i'm looking to build a glass and steel panel wall/divider. indoors, no door. pic related it's roughly the look i'm aiming for. i'm having a hard time finding tutorial or any other information online. only contractors that quote me anything between 2000 and 5000 urodollars for a couple of m2. do you have any experience with comparable projects? a headsup on what shape of extruded metal i should use, etc?
chers

a bunch of glass cut to size, some metal frame with screws to hold a frame holding the glass panels in place, it is like a bunch of picture frames just a big one and all connected
>>1165753
ya i got that far. so do you use T-profiles? what frame do you use for the glass, a smaller L?
you're not of much help if you're just guessing, i have a pretty vivid imagination myself. i'd rather see some proven working solutions
Not OP, but was thinking about something like this. What would be the downside of using an acrylic sheet as opposed to glass? I figure if I can get a large enough sheet I could just use tools I have at home to cut it myself
How would I go about removing star plugs with minimal damage to the masonry?
>>1165332
small wood threaded eyebolt, a steel cable with cable clamps, and a heavy weight. And eye protection for when the fucker sproings outta there.
I'd use a cheap automotive slide hammer puller with appropriate screws over the cable trick.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-LB-Dent-Puller-Slide-Hammer-Kit-Auto-Body-Repair-Tool-Sliding-Work-DIY-Repair-/332114019083
Also good for pulling seals etc.
Other option is drill them then flick out the crumbs with some old coat hanger.
>Implying you can harm the Masons.
Hello, I'm looking to make my own car bumper stickers.
I want to make them like the ones in the image.
How do I go about that? Someone had suggested getting a plotter and someone said a vinyl cutter, I looked into them, but those seem to only cut a vinyl in the shape of a vector, so it would work for images that are only one color, but I don't think/know if they'll work for bumper stickers like the one in the image.
I use CorelDRAW for most of my vector art, and then just export as a PNG and print on sticker paper from my home printer but I'm looking to make 25-50 of each design to sell at a con in a month or so and would kill my printer.
You are an autistic weeaboo gay faggot.
Grow up manchild. When I was a kid I thought this anime shit was fucking gay. I also never was a fan of pokemon, because it's fucking gay.
So don't make a fool out of yourself and forgot about those fag cartoon bumper stickers.

There is a guy in /biz if u can filter the shitcoin spam. He has a thread about packaging his stickers. Get hild of him

Which harbour freight/lidl/canadian tire/etc. Chinese rebranded abominations do you own? I bought pic related on sale. I used it once or twice to reslot a screw.
I've got 3 HF angle grinders.
The locking pin for the spindle keeps fucking breaking, so the flap disc that's on them is on for the life of the tool.
I need to break down and buy a makita.

one mc cordless drill rigid 12v impact driver
When I was an aluminum welder we had this mastercraft angle grinder at work.
I'm glad we didn't have to use it often, it was so rickety and sketchy I was actually a bit scared to use it.
I have a shitty rental house. Buddy deal renting it because it is such shit it isn't even worth renting. Buddy living in camper. Hapily moves in and pays most of the mortgage. Bro gets a better job and our goal of making his house a rental cabin gets a little help. Figure he will hang out a year or 2 and buy a house. In the meantime we will fix up his place while he has cheap af rents to care for it and work with our improvements. To my knowledge we are on the same page. Is an ex roomate and lifelong bro so there is a lot of trust and transparency.
Which leads me to this shit. The kitchen floor is bare plywood and sucks. And the other 2 small rooms of carpet are shit. Gave him the option of new lenolium and carpet for higher rent or leave it be. He said he didnt care. Cheap rent is cool but so is new carpet ina shithole. Wife wants to fix it.
My delema is the fridge. To get it in the house i had to take off the doors, door brackets, doors on the house, and the door frame itself...
The guys putting in vynil require nothing be on the floor.
Done lol at the wife. Got 6 feet. I can frame a corner and throw the fridge on it. Then tear it down after instal. She says i am dumb and she is taking doors off the fridge...
Oh, btw the fridge is full.
My question is who is right here?
Should me and a bro build a shelf and throw the giant fridge up on it or should i bow down and spend 2 days disassemble my fridge and house and store his shit?
Vynil is already there and they comming tomorrow. If they charge 2k to move a fridge i may lose it...
Wtf do i do anon?
>Wtf do i do anon?
Spend the money on ESL courses.
>>1164734
>there are people in the world who willfully install carpeting
Put the fridge on a dolly, take it apart, move it to another room. Use coolers and ice for your food. This isn't hard and it isn't rocket science.
>>1164734
>The guys putting in vynil require nothing be on the floor.
Just tell them to skip the space below the fridge. You get to define what the floor is.
PS. should have just put down laminate flooring yourself.
So I'm making a six layer sphere out of gores like in pic. Each layer has to be a bit larger than the last because of the thickness of each layer(2mm). How can I figure out how much larger each layer needs to be? I'm sure it's an easy thing figure out, but I'm mathtarded. If I'm not explaining the question clearly, ask me what I'm trying to say.
Simply, If I make a 1000mm circumference sphere, how much larger would I need to make a layer to cover it in 2mm material? 1002mm? 1004mm? I don't know.
Thanks.
Is Pi involved? I bet Pi is needed, because things on a plane are stretching on one side, and compressing on the other. Come on, guys, help me out.
(1000+2pi) mm

Thanks, yo.
So 3.141 x "thickness?"
Short story short, fell a rainwater barrel on my big toe when I was emptying before the winter. Hit it hard, was all black and stuff, but not hard enough to lose it right away.
Pic related just happent (did my best to clean the gross stuff) it feels super awkward and hurts a bit so I want to superglue it back, the nails have some overlap, about 2mm, so I think it could work. Fits back perfectly. My question is:
Is superglue safe for the skin long term or will it burn/melt the shit out of my nailbed?
OP I respeck you and I'm sorry about your nail but don't do this or anything like it. Stay organic friend.
It'll grow back just fine, there could be ingrown toenail but that's easily fixable.
Don't do that. It'll burn/melt the shit out of your nailbed. Best thing to do is just keep it lightly wrapped and clean. You'll get used to the nail being gone pretty quck.
anyone got any good sources of info on pattern cutting for activewear? I wanna make clothes that allow for the greatest comfort, ease of movement, and durability but can't seem to find any pattern books on it. pls hlp
literrally cut some cloth you buy and make patrons for each size,
do you know about louis garneau clothing ?
>>1164362
Good luck finding men's patterns.
If op can find something that is similar off rack he can copy it. Biggest issue with clothing is that the fit isn't right. You can tailor the pattern though to fit you properly.
>>1164362
No, what's the deal w louis gameau??
>>1164554
I'm after mens and womens but all i can find is pretty but impractical shit. rlly grinds my gears desu. And am a young fashion student so copying peoples garments is a no go.
WHY DO THERE SEEM TO BE 0 BOOKS ON PATTERN CUTTING FOR ACTIVEWEAR FMUUUUU

How to do this?
How much will I spend approximately?
This is my great material dream

Hi /diy/
I'm an engineer and want to do handy man work on the side part time for some extra cash, how should I go about this? I don't have any handyman experience. I could do some work for free/ volunteer to get experience, but I feel like that would make me a total cuck. So I'd rather not do it that way. Problem is, why should anyone pay me to fix something around there house if I don't have prior handyman experience?
>>1162302
Volunteer to build an orphanage in Tijuana? Offer your services to a homeless shelter/church etc? Y
>>1162303
So I should put aside my pride and temporarily work for free?
>>1162304
Well, wouldn't doing it for a good cause be a source of pride?
Anyone on here built a low scale nuclear reactor before? Tips on safety and stories would be appreciated.

My 28oz estwing is destroying the joints in my arm.
looking to pick up something lighter, eyeing off a 16oz stiletto Ti or a Vaughan 23oz CF. Any other suggestions? what do you swing and what do you think of it?
I live in ausfalia so availability is an issue for a lot of brands/models
>>1166561
literally any fiberglass handle will be good, it is a hammer
>>1166561
Just get a 20oz estwing claw from bunnings for $50 I use it all day everyday with no worries.
The titanium hammers are probably great but they're so expensive and I haven't found anywhere that sells them what do you do for work?
>>1166572
I have one, prefer something with a longer handle
I'm a framer
>i want to test a power supply that i found on the street
>i try to plug it to the wall
>it wont start
>i invite a friend to come in and help me to get it working
>he grabs some wires and suddenly i see a light coming from the PSU
>he starts electrocuting
>i start laughing
>he screams in pain
>i get his hands off the PSU
>i start electrocuting
>as i scream in pain with my friend my father walks in and kicks the psu
>the PSU starts burning
>my fucking house almost gets set on fire
>we both survive
Never pick up a PSU found in the street and try to test it, NEVER
>>1166533
Why would he be touching the wires whilst it was plugged in? It's a shame your father didn't let natural selection take its course.
>>1166622
Why are you responding to an illogical shitpost?
>>1166646
Why are you?
I've got a bag of "ready mix mortar" that says all you have to do is add water to use.
It says use by December 2009. Is there any chance that it is still usable in 2017?
It's been kept dry and has the consistency of fine sand
Yes. The physical and chemical properties of sand and cementitious material will not change.
>>1166265
If it is still dry and there is no bulbs of dried out stuff in it, yeah, it will be fine.
>>1166265
If it's for important structural shit, it's not worth it. If it's more for decorative shit you can always test out a small sample by mixing it with water in the correct ratio and waiting to see if the cement will still give you an exothermic reaction, then set and cure properly. You really never know with the old bags. A tiny bit of humidity can get in there and ruin it very slowly over many years and it looks perfectly normal dry, but since the silicates are chemically spent you get a shit ass reaction and it won't bond together well. So yeah, maybe. Test it out first. Don't just use it for a projerct. It might still be good, it might not be. Safe bet is always a newer bag.
DIY virgin | Auto window roller blind help. Hey all, needing help trying to modify my chain roller blind to an automatic remote controlled one using arduinos and a motor. In the planning process, but don't really know how much torque (don't know shit all) I'll be needing to get the blind back up from its weight. This is my first DIY project and trynna get this done on my own but dont want to buy a motor and have it not be strong enough.
OP/ Don't know much of anything related to what I'm doing, learning as I go
>>1166076
Shit at least give us a number, how heavy is the blind? No info, no advice, we are not your google assistant
>>1166079
Using a luggage weight from top center of blind extended , read about 2kg but with consideration of anything above the weight I'd say about 2.3kg needs to be lifted.
