Hello guys,
I am a /fa/shion fan and from time to time I also enjoy a cigarette. Now here in Germany (in fact most of Europe) cigarette packs have huge gore pictures all around them. I know smoking is dangerous but I really don't care and I would much rather have a nice looking case. However I don't want to use an enclosure for my cigarettes that is not a cigarette pack.
I have the chance to buy this (full) cigarette pack from a french designer I like for only 10€, I don't want to smoke them since they are many years old but I want to use it as a case for my cigarettes because I really like the aesthetic. Essentially I just want to put my cigarettes inside of it. The problem is that it's cardboard and probably wouldn't last long.
What can I do to make this pack waterproof, avoid creasing etc.?
Would it even be possible to make it a bit wider so I could just slide a normal cigarette pack with the flap removed inside of it? After all, these are the extra long cigarettes while I only smoke the regular short ones.
Any help is appreciated.

Hello /diy/
How could I make an armchair like this (except with a higher back part) or a regular chair look like a throne?
Now I don't want it to look like a proper throne, just something that makes it recognisable as a throne without simply writing "throne" on it.
It's for a game I'll be playing with my mates where someone will be a king.

mount a dildo in the middle as a symbol of power
Start by reclaiming some wooden pallets.
draw out designs you like
make frame of chair
upholster
enjoy
Have you ever tried to make the perfect wine but wished you had the knowledge of others? Come on and tell us what your biggest mistakes in wine making were
>>1161927
I tried making wine once but than I realized I'm not a rich 80 year old Italian man and that wine is fucking boring.
Don't add sugar, and be easy on water.
The deeper the cellar the better.
Use wooden barrels.
I'm interested in building a mask/ helmet like that of a tempestus scion but don't know how to go about buying and getting the materials.
Any advice would be appreciated thanks.

is there any video game that has a 3D model of these guys? if you can get a digital model, its pretty easy to do via pepakura or maybe even a 3D printer.
just takes a bit of finish work with all the sanding/filler.
>>1161837
>if you can get a digital model
I'd be surprised if there's one available, but honestly learning blender isn't that difficult.
OP I made several Chaos Space Marine helmets by actually building them in blender, and importing them into pepakura designer. The results were great. You have a paper structure of your 3D model (use good thick paper for this), which you then strengthen using fibreglass and bondo (car body filler). It's really not difficult at all, just takes a little time.
In fact, this is one of my designs that some guy finished and put on etsy.
>>1161846
That's really cool stuff. I don't know if I can pick up blender skills just like that. But I guess I could research papercraft more thoroughly. I've seen plenty of Space Marine helmets but nothing for the Scions as of yet, I guess being a newer faction limits the range in the fandom.
Does anybody know of a good guide to make PVC train horns?
sorry but the only type of horn i know is the horny type. good luck tho :|

Treehouse thread
>pic related is my current project
Decided to make it more challenging by choosing trees with zero horizontal branches
Planning on having a fire pit up there once it's done
Give me suggestions of things to do to it
Is that one tree? If so, horrible idea. Low trunk split trees are made to fail. Wait until a windy day, an ice storm, or even plain old snow, and trunk(s) are coming down.
Do you happen to know the species or at least genus? What part of the world are you in?
Use bolts for anchoring to the tree (nails and screws won't hold for shit long run).
>>1161580
It is one tree
There's 4 vertical Y logs holding the majority of the weight. I will probably add a few more when the treehouse gets heavier.
>Do you happen to know the species or at least genus? What part of the world are you in?
No idea what the tree is. I live in the south east of England
>Use bolts
I'm too poor for bolts, the trees only have nails in for the ladder. The rest is held there with friction.
It survived last winter, so it's structurally secure

Can anyone tell me what these two things are?
My brother passed away in September and we are just starting to clean out his house.
This box was on his kitchen table and I have no idea what it is. One is kinda heavy

Smash the one on the right on some concrete and snort the powder that falls out. It will give you super powers, no joke.
I'm trying to find some M7 Allen head bolts, but I'm having a hard time finding exactly what I need because I'm not too familiar with the terminology of fasteners. I'm looking for an Allen head bolt where the head tapers in towards the threads, but all I'm finding are bolts like pic related where the head tapers away from the threads. I want something with the same amount of taper and the same sized head, like if you took these bolts and flipped the heads upside down.
Would anyone know the name of a bolt like that or where I could find them?
go to a fastenal store with the bolt you broke.
They probably won't be able to match the exact bolt head shape but they can get you close. If you're using it in a low clearance space you may need to drill it out a bit.

Hey people,
I am thinking of building a truck camper to live in. I've been scoping a few different trucks on craigslist, there is a nice '79 4x4 toyota truck, as well as '84 1 ton dually with a flat bed. I personally am thinking something with a cabover camper, so I can sleep up there (with some type of slide out drawer[I'm 6'1"]). And ideally something lightweight/inexpensive, though if I had a 1 ton weight is less of an issue. But I would think a 4x4 could still handle a bit of weight.
Does anyone have any experience with building up things like this? I was personally thinking of using wood to build a skeleton around and then frame around it with something insulating, waterproof and lightweight.
Would I be best off using foam insulation?
I have also seen people use chloroplast(basically plastic cardboard) to build micro bike campers.
Would this be too flimsy for highspeeds? I would also wonder about the ease of breaking in by cutting through the plastic. It seems like it could be a good material to use to fashion a bend over it for aerodynamics.
It seems to me that aluminum is costly/heavy/ I cant do it. Fibreglass seems like a possibility but I don't have much experience working with it.
Any input/inspiration all of you can offer is much appreciated.
Thanks!

>To live in
Just end your life now before it gets worse
I was just looking into making a van like that.
>>1163113
I haven't, but I looked into doing one. If I did do one, I would probably borrow some modern amateur boat-building techniques, and do it with an extremely lightweight wood frame, using either foam or very thin plywood for the shell, and epoxy/fiberglass to bind it all together.
See for example stitch&glue boats or foam core boats.
Just a thought.
I need to log my property lines, I'd like to use gps so that I can upload the info to google earth. I also fly fish a lot and would like something to map my trail lines etc.
More concerned with my propery lines. Would a $100 handheld gps be okay for this?
>>1162952
IIRC all civilian GPS is +-10 meters. If you are okay with it being off by that much, then yeah, it should be fine.
>>1162952
As above, but a Garmin or similar standalone GPS unit should be 1000 times more accurate than a phone or whatever, they start using 'assisted GPS' (celltower triangulation, etc.) - may as well chuck a dart at an atlas. If you want more acurate, you need to get into RTK and survey grade error correction systems - but bascially, a Garmin and good weather (minimal/no overcast, etc) should produce as near to accurate as you'll get for $100 budget.
I'm looking for an inexpensive benchtop drill press for relatively light duty, mostly hobby projects. What's the cheapest one worth owning?
>>1162583
any one is better than nothing, use the 20% off coupon from harbor freight and get one for ~$50
i'd knock off the chuck and lap the taper a little bit
get a drill press clamp for thin sheets and a small press vise for larger things
>>1162583
>relatively light duty, mostly hobby projects
Care to elaborate? Low end drill presses are wobbly, flexible, and low-torque, so precision, drilling metal, and drilling large holes in wood would be difficult. You might look for an old used drill press at estate sales or Craigslist. Alternately, a nicer drill press would be nicer to use, and so might make your hobby more enjoyable. Consider the value of this to you as you compare cost and performance.
>>1162583
It's shit. I own it. Changing speed is a bitch, it's weighted horribly, all holes end up slightly larger than the bit you use because of wobble, the light is a nuisance. But, you can get it cheap. Bolt to work bench, get a better chuck, make a better table for it and it's workable. Also, reviews say the switches like to break(the one on display had a broken switch too) but that would be an easy fix.
My neighbor has this thingy majig in their backyard. It's basically a tin foil bowl tied to a wooden stick with a string. It was about 10 feet closer to the camera for a while before they moved it to where it is now today.
Pic related I'll zoom it in if requested.

Now, I have a compressor from an old fridge, I want it to use as a vacuum pump (for shits and giggles). I've been reading conflicting information, some people say you need to change oil, cause it reacts with water from atmosphere, some allegedly have it used for several years without any oil change. So, what's the deal with the oil?
Anyways, I'd appreciate some tips on making it betterer.
Do you have an actual pic of the Compressor?
>>1162180
nope, I'll take a closer look at it in a few days, but it's from a small fridge, whose whole power rating, if I remember correctly was 100w.
also, as I handled it, upon quicker movement it made cloncking sound, whole inner assembly hitting a wall. As far as I found out, the inner assembly is hanging on springs, but are they loose enough for it to hit the walls? Or is it just broken?
Guys/galls,
I need some help sourcing this material for a little kinky project. Any ideas, what those parts are called in english, please? I'm from Germany and here they are called "Ringkloben". Strange word in german already, no idea how to find them, I need a supplier who offers different forms than the one I'm showing you, which is pretty ugly and too small for my purpose. Thanks a bunch!
I'm interested too

Hey /diy/, me and my buddy are planning on building a garage for work on cars/building shit. It's going to be out of an old barn we are doing some spring cleaning soon and stockpiling it with tools. What I want to know is the best way to prepare the inside and outside of the barn. (pics will be added later since I am not at the barn now will be later in the week) Also what are some tools and equipment that's necessary for any shop, and also specifically working with cars/metal/wood. pic is not actual barn but related, looks around this old if not older the house was built 100+ years ago and the barn is built with poles.
>outside
Make sure the entryway is flush with no potholes or dips incase you want to bring a slammed car inside. Come to terms with the fact that some part of the outside yard will need to be trashed. You need a spot in the yard where you can spray brake part cleaner and it kills the grass and that's ok. Or you pour gas out to clean off a tool and it gets on the grass and kills it and that's ok because that's the spot you designated for that to happen. Lots of lights so you can see what you're doing.
>inside
Clean concrete floors. Nothing worse than driopping a bolt then you can't find it because there's a bunch of other crap on the floor and it blends in. Concrete, pressure washed, preferably stained or sealed. Lots of lights so you can see what you're doing. Basically, keep. it. clean. A dirty shop is fucking gross
>>1162089
Yeah good ideas its on a huge lot like 50+ acres so spots for certain "unsafe" things are easy to find and we won't have neighbours bugging us or anything and the shed is pretty stealthy with huge lines of brush surrounding it and the house.
Also our budget is "meh" we just ordered a tool chest we have a nice jack we have some power tools, a compressor some, air tools, socket sets, wrenches ratchets, drill bits ( ordering new ones) and more stuff we have alot of lights too .
We are thinking of buying a drill press right now. Looking at government auction sites too.
Anything else to add? I will be updating frequently btw.
Also we will be making a YouTube channel dedicated to all this crap.
