I'm hunting around for inspiration since I'm going to be buying new frames and thought some picspam / discussion might be nice.

Try not to fuck this one, too.

Cosplayer trouble with convention thread?
Traveling as an invited cosplayers has been a thing for a handful of cosplayers for a few years now, so trouble has been cropping up with conventions generally treating cosplayers poorly, not providing interpreters, sexual harrasment, or even trying to scam them for money. So general thread where we talk about these incidents?
Things I can remember from the top of my head:
>Reika dumped at the wrong terminal without help at an American airport so she had to use twitter and friends in order to not miss her flight.
>Once again Reika, invited to an event in the Philippines, turns out they cheaped out on hotel, she was forced to sleep and shower in the organizers house, which resulted in her napping in her changing room and basically not sleeping during the trip.
>Most recent, Yuegene Fay has a disastrous run in with American border control, is unable to make it to an event in Ecuador. Is told tickets are non-refundable and ordered to pay. After some researching Yuegene realizes they are re-fundable and organizers are basically scamming her for money.
Picture related. There is a link on the Yuegene fb page to a google doc with all the chat logs.
For general discussion:
>Any other similar incidents?
>Like it or not, cosplayers have become a main staple as guests at events, especially in smaller countries. How do we make sure that young impressionable cosplayers are not scammed or abused when traveling? (Especially when experienced cosplayers are still having trouble.)
>How do we hold events responsible? CAN we hold them responsible? Are there certain areas or events that should be avoided for travel? What will this spell for the future?
>>8764193
did that ecuadorian guy ever do anything with "justice on his side?"
>How do we make sure that young impressionable cosplayers are not scammed or abused when traveling? (Especially when experienced cosplayers are still having trouble.)
have multiple people read the contracts. lawyers if available.. make sure they have backup plans (people they can count on in the vicinity of the convention and airport) in case things do happen. that's more something the cosplayer has to do though. if they're not experienced they should have a handler come with them who hopefully is experienced with international travel. friend, family member, etc.
>How do we hold events responsible? CAN we hold them responsible? Are there certain areas or events that should be avoided for travel? What will this spell for the future?
besides not attending them, not really.
>>8764220
>did that ecuadorian guy ever do anything with "justice on his side?"
Nah. EGIC just posted a doctored account of what happened on their page, leaving out less savory parts of the chat logs and patted themselves on the back for being so righteous. It's ridiculous. No legal action as to what I could find, probably because they don't have a case.
>>8764375
Doubt they could do anything to her anyway. Who the fuck would launch a lawsuit overseas for what, a thousand bucks? Probably cost more in legal fees
Describe the person in your comm that ruins every meet up he or she shows it's face to.
>Do other people cancel when they see that they are going to show up?
>How do they ruin the meet?
>Who invited them?
>Did they eventually go away? And so yes, how?

wish the girls in the foreground were better dressed, that would make this funnier. girl on the right needs a blouse, girl on the left needs a hair accessory, bangs, and possibly better makeup
>>8756899
This image is old as hell. They look fine for the time this was taken, which was like 2007 or so I believe.
>>8756902
I'm aware of that, that's no excuse for skipping a blouse
Didn't see one in the catalog. Here's my Jessica from Dragon Quest VIII that I plan to revamp soon.
Is this a vendetta thread? I just feel like a seagull wouldn't produce that sort of cosplay
>>8744686
you look great!!
i'm hoping to fix this up a little by katsu and even do an actual photoshoot of it, but here's my monomi/usami from sdr2, i worked really hard on it and i think it came out pretty good!! (and i do actually have shoes for it, they're gold, i'm just not wearing them in this pic because i was at a meetup at a friend's house and had already taken them off)

next time show cleavage
Why is there no hot guys in cosplay thread?
A third

Looks like he's swimming in that top
Recently I've been looking for more conventions to go to, but I'd rather not spend time on my cosplay/spend money travelling to go somewhere a bit far for a convention in a high school gym or something like that. Any suggestions for good conventions (besides obvious ones like Comic Con or Anime Expo)?
Where do you live?
Just go to Animecons website and look at the cons near you. google the con names and see what the attendance was last year.
>>8769729
New York, I'm willing to go to nearby states for conventions as well.
Instead of having an ugly sweater contest let's have an ita Christmas coord contest! Be as tacky and Christmasy as you can be!

i win

We'll see! New goal is to look worse than you ;)

Let's try not to shit up this new thread.
ITT: best and worse conventions, upcoming events (cosplay and lolita related), general discussion about local and state wide stuff
>>8747197
Still wondering about this. Like I know the answer is probably going to be "it's shitty, don't bother" but I'd still like to actually know.
>>8754358
I've heard a variety of things about A-Kon cosplay contest, either that its rigged or judges were spot on with their winners. It also depends on who your hearing it from. The best is to try it out for yourself.
>>8754362
I consistently hear that its rigged but I don't know where that comes from of if it's true. Would be interested to hear more if anyone knows?
Lolita, cosplay, jfashion, so long its related and makes you weep just a little bit for humanity.
>>8754006
There are ita-pants and there are ugly-pants. This is definitely the second.
>>8754016
I feel like my sister will end up with pants like this at some point. She even did a fucking presentation for her class about wanting to be a 'mangaka'. ....For fucks sake.
>>8754006
I totally did this shit in 6th grade. Thank god posting pictures online was really hard back then.
First time on this board. Is this the right place for Stalker cosplayers?
Bitch couldn't you just have bumped your old thread? >>8756870
We're a slow board
>>8757103
That's not my thread.
>>8757107
Well please check the catalog next time before making the post to avoid clutter.
Like the other anon said, we are a VERY slow board. Threads last weeks here. Longest I ever saw was like 2 months.
Hey /Cgl/ Im going to a local convention this spring I plan to cosplay as a S.t.a.l.k.e.r. (Pic related) however I plan to wear a gas mask but I fear that wearing the mask will be considered a threat of chemical warfare due to that one gassing of a furry convention. I don't plan to bring any prop weapons. So is it safe to wear the mask?
I have seen plenty of stalker bros with gasmasks so I imagine you will be fine
>That one gassing of a furry convention
Oh god details.
>>8756870
Just be careful with the filters. many older ones (I think pretty 1980) used asbestos. You don't want that in your lungs unless cancer is 1st on your wishlist.
Plus breathing through the filter+ mask will be really difficult.
