Why do people do it? It's so stupid, makes no sense, and is uncreative as fuck. Just "har har what if Captain America became slave Leia durrrr"
Just cosplay characters in their normal clothes you homos.
What is otome-kei?
>Japanese for 'maiden'
>Focuses on a feminine and quirky look
>No set rules
>Outfits often use colour popping, interesting print combinations, and contrasting materials
>Generally has a kitsch or twee vibe
>Sometimes overlaps with casual lolita but is still a separate style
Main otome brands:
>Emily Temple Cute/Shirley Temple Cute
Other Suitable Brands*:
>Lolita brands (accessories, legwear, bags, mini skirts, cardigans/boleros)
Suitable Non-Japanese Brands*:
>Hello Bones Jones (Indie)
>Mulberry Chronicles (Indie)
>Peppermint Fox (Indie)
>Sock Dreams, Teja Jamilla
>Melissa Shoes, Bait Footwear, Dkode Shoes, Neosen, Fleuvog
*NB: these brands are not all specifically otome, but sometimes produce suitable items
**NB: Many of these blogs dabble in both lolita and otome or exist in the grey area between the two. There's also varying experience levels.
To start it off, Peppermint Fox just announced new items shortly after releasing their Tea Emblem collection. These will be available on Saturday.
Has anybody in the US ordered only brooches from them that would be able to give me a shipping estimate? Those bread brooches would be perfect for a dress I have on the way.
Specifically how Lolitas outside of the "ideal" seen in magazines achieve excellent coordinates that follow Lolita guidelines, be they tall, very short, extremely dark or pale, ugly, sharp features, masculine, whatever. I'm looking for photo inspiration and feel free to talk about your experiences. I'm struggling with an eating disorder myself so I wanted to see how others are making their differences work in great coords.
hey all, i am trying to make a airsoft loadout of the guy one the counter strike source cover, can some of you help me find what his uniform consists of?
>holy shit, something on /cgl/ I can give input on
let's assume you have the rifle (if not, buy literally any M4 with a carry handle iron sight) and full seal goggles (bonus points if the frame is black, then just rest them in your helmet between rounds to complete the look)
>helmet - Avengers Bump helmet in black
>chest rig - Avengers Assaulter chest rig (the closest I could find in appearance
>BDU - anything in navy blue
>gloves - see above
>balaclava - personal preference
>holster - Blade-Tec Revolution paddle holster
>knee pads - again, your choice. I'd recommend Condor Quick Release tactical knee pads
really wish I could just drop links to all of these, but the spam filter gets triggered
don't listen to people telling you to post in /k/, they'll just laugh at you and bump the thread off the board
Let's get back to basics, /cgl/. Share your favorite simple lolita coords.
Also, simple does not mean casual! Just basic.

Nozomi, why did they do this to you?
Monsters are fine, but I'd especially like good renditions of human characters from horror games. Any game qualifies.
I recently finished my Ashley cosplay from Until Dawn! (No makeup because it was just a test fitting)

What the hell? Where did you all go?
Anyways is anyone planning on getting swankiss's lucky pack? I might ...
anyone know which boards, sites, etc.. to request high quality cosplay commissions? If possible I'd like to specify regions because getting a fitting in person would always be ideal..
Pic kinda related, it's what I want to do but don't have the talent/time to make myself!
How do I go about making a Mudokon cosplay? What would I use for the skin? What would I make the head out of? Help me out here, /cgl/
Can we do a crossdress/trap idea thread? Also cosplayers/resources in general, since there's none in the catalog.
Starting off with Kuranosuke from Kuragehime.
Am I the only one bothered by compliments along the "you're the best X ever!", "you're the perfect X!", etc? Don't get me wrong, there's obviously different tiers as far as quality of cosplay goes, but stating that someone is the absolute best just rubs me the wrong way, and recieving it doesn't feel any better. Better to say "my favourite" or "my headcanon" in that case.
Compliments that just doesn't sit right with you? Backhanded, ill thought through, or downright malicious compliments you've recieved on your cosplays.
personally, i really like when people say stuff like that? it makes me happy especially if i'm not feeling super confident about my cosplay. i don't see how saying someone is "the best" is any different than saying someone is your headcanon, because it's still a matter of opinion and usually people are overexaggerating to make the point that they think you look really good? if that makes sense
anyways, compliments that always rub me the wrong way a little is when people say things like "i don't like the character you're cosplaying but" i don't care if you like the character or not?? that has nothing to do with my cosplay, unless you're trying to start a discussion about the series and/or character itself
I feel the same, it makes any other cosplayer of X character feel like shit. It would be better if people said something like:
>You look just like X
>You make a really good X
Also OT, but in regards to the OP image, i love seeing other artists draw X character in their own style. My fav.
Old thread is dead.
I know cgl is against people undercharging for art in aa but what about extremely overcharging?
I met a semi popular artist I follow on tumblr at a con the other day and I was set on buying a print...until I looked at her prices. $25 for a big print (11x17) $15 for a small (copy paper sized) Then I asked about her buttons,$3 for a 1.25 inch, I understand $2 but $3? For such a tiny button?
Everyone else at the con, myself included was charging $15 a big print and $8-10 for a small and I would say that some of the art quality was on par if not outright better than hers, it kind of offended me as an artist. Here we all are charging reasonable rates for our hard work and effort and yet this girl thinks her artwork is with almost twice as much as the rest of ours.
It kind of left a bitter taste in my mouth.
If she can sell it at that price, good for her and that also means you can raise your own prices? If she can't, then she'll learn the hard way. Either way, as long as you're laughing your way to the bank, it's fine imo.

Christmas is coming up! Buy any lolita presents for someone else? For yourself?
How does it usually work when new dresses are announced? This is the first time I've cared about a dress from a beginning.
