came home tonight and saw my dog not moving. called her name didnt move. ran up to her and didnt move. i had to physically pick her up to get her to stand but she only stayed up because she was leanong on wall. im so sad. someone gave her rat poison. vet said 75% chance of death of we dont take to hospital and pay 1,100 for a 25% chance of her to die. im so sad. i cried for an hour strait. the only reason i stopped was because i didnt want tp keep her from sleeping. i know she is going to die and so will all my love and happiness left inside me. fuck people and fuck life. Goodnight my love, ill see you one day again..

i love you sasha... ;-;

But a bullet in her you asshole. Don't let her die from poisoning.
>>
>>2227300
why don't you brin her to the vet clinic them? because of the 1,100$?

stupid fuck, if you get a pet you agree to care for it it's whole life, which also includes vet bills.
If she dies after trying to save her, you at least did everything you could. Also, a ruptured cruciate ligament costs more than that. Would you also not take her to the vet because of that?
Many dogs rupture this ligament, so it's a pretty common thing.
Bitch

/herp/ reptile classifieds for finding breeders of various scaled and sundry creatures

>kingsnake.com
>faunaclassifieds.com
>reptilescanada.com (Canadian breeders)
>Also check to see if there are any annual reptile shows/expos in your area as these are good places to find good animals from good breeders at partial discount

/herp/ officially official all purpose care sheet of wonder and magic

>sand a shit
>use a thermostat
>read all the caresheets
>set up your tank before you get your herp
>regulate temps & humidity levels prior to herp arrival
>do not fuck with (handle) your herp for at least 7 days after bringing it home and ideally wait until herp has eaten at least one meal (for snakes), two meals for lizards, frogs, etc.
>PVC tanks are way better for most applications and worth the extra money
>it is best to avoid chain pet stores when looking to purchase live animals as mass breeder suppliers are not especially careful about health and sound genetics... it often saves you money long term to spend a little extra up front to get a healthy animal

regarding a couple questions from end of last thread

>I have a beardie who wants to do nothing but sleep under his hide this past week, is it brumation or should I be calling my vet?

It's kind of early for brumation behaviour. Double check your temperatures. Is beardy still eating?

>how to trap a house gecko

I'm not sure. I guess best bet would be a tupperware container with a small entrance hole cut in it, some soil and plants inside, left in a warm dark area of the house. It won't "trap" the gecko but if you're lucky it may decide to sleep inside. Check during daytime hours and see? Honestly though, geckos are bro-tier house lizard. Cause no trouble, eat your bugs. Your family needs to relax.

What plants do you have?

My list will include

Java fern
Java moss
Jungle Val
Anubias Nana
Lugwidia
Bacopa

Will my plants like it? I'm working on CO2, I have flourish tabs and I've got flourish liquid ferts on the way. How should I get setup as well? Put plants in, then ferts & CO2, or CO2+Ferts, then plants. My tank has been running for years, and has a mighty level of stability.

Excluding our ape and monkey cousins , chimps are already getting there in this regard, what animal species is the next and most likely candidate for the sapient/big brain lottery?
105 posts and 16 images submitted.
>>
Corvids, possibly. Perhaps dogs. African Grey Parrots? Whales and Dolphins, rats.
>>
>>2217878
Id love this sort of concept to be explored more in fiction really, taking their general behaviour and trying to imagine how a society of those creatures would develop.
>>
>>2217878
>Corvids
Maybe. Will have a hard time manipulating anything that's not a stick. That goes for any bird.

>dogs
Nope.

>Whales and Dolphins
Can't manipulate tools, can't start fire under water which arguably was what got our civilization going.

>rats
Very short generation time, might be too short to pass complex ideas. They can't have elders around that are no longer actively involved in survival that develop and spread ideas in all their free time.

Chimps are also not a very good candidate either because they figured out lying before they figured out language. Language depends on honest signals to develop. Chimps deceive each other by making false alarm sounds for example. They use too many of the false signals for a complex language to form, they can't communicate complex ideas. This is why chimps in captivity can be trained to express complex ideas but never do so in the wild. The potential is there but their social structure ruins it.

Intelligence like ours seems to have been a very unlikely and pretty lucky chain of events.

Is all the cat advice written by cunts (women)?

I don't want to hear shit about cunts owning cats.

Any men own cats? How do you handle them?
Cat has scratching posts, scratched furnishings anyway.

When he hisses at me he gets thrown out of the house at the least. If he fights more he gets beaten.

And if any cunt want's to come have a problem with that, with your fucking cunt laws... just like any male in your cunt society: don't got nothing to lose.

Everything men want to do is outlawed anyway: from guns to girls.

Cat is 3 months old now (got it when it was 4 weeks, was on property, is neutered)

Advice (other than execution: yes I know I could donate him to the 'coons, don't need to remind me)

Cats aren't particularly intelligent AND you keep rewarding your cat for being an ass. Advice is either to give it to someone more competent or just kill it and make a nice stew.

So, powerful dogs like Tibetan Mastiff, Kangals, Argentinos, Rottweilers and American Pitbull Terriers have strong bite forces and muscles.

Can these big dogs kill big cats like lions and tigers? Hyenas apparently have stronger bite force than lions and can actually beat them despite being scavengers. And in actual battles, American Pitbull Terriers always dominate and overpower everything. Apparently they even kill large boars and bears.

So would lions and tigers lose to the strongest big dogs?

If you know where to look, there are videos of game dogs pitted against hyenas, wolves, bears, lions, tigers, leopards, etc. You won't find it on youtube or live leak though.
>>
I don't think any similarly sized animal can beat a tiger. Cats also have claws over dogs.
>>
>>2223851
>So would lions and tigers lose to the strongest big dogs?

Lose to a dog? No.

Lose to the pack? Absolutely.

Kipling summed it up best: "For the strength of the pack is the wolf, and the strength of the wolf is the pack."

Anyone have thoughts on having a pet wolf with other dogs? Are they likely to get along, or is that a bad idea?
59 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
Do you understand what a wild animal is? Just get a dog.
>>
>>2225432
It's a bad idea to have one at all, but they'd probably be okay with dogs. Try a wolf-dog hybrid breed instead.
>>
>>2225432
Having pet wolves is always nice, assuming you get the right kind.

What you're looking for is Canis lupus familiaris. It's a subspecies of grey wolf, and has recently been subject to a pretty intense domestication programme.

Hey all, I really want to say something. Every now and then, I'd post my mudskipper tank in his beautiful 20 gallon. But for most of his life I neglected him. I put him in a 10 gallon tank with about a gallon and a half of water with a screen top and a bubbler for a filter.

I was so embarrassed of that tank, I never really took any pictures of him. But going through my hard drive I found pic related. I honestly want to say to all beginner aquarium hobbyists that if you want your fish happy, give them a nice home. Because my mudskipper went from barely noticeable as a fish to this(this video was made minutes after I introduced him to his new tank)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Qh0_thlu7Y

In a very short time. All fish have an intriguing personality, give them what they deserve.
