How do gall wasps cause galls to form. It seems really strange that a wasp can influence the growth of an acorn so much.
>>2221934
usually with the help of cytokinin, which influenzed the growth of the plant on a cellular level
With these phytohormones, they basically force the cells to grow/stop growing or regenerate so they have a secure space to live in
good enough? or should i go into detail?
go into detail please

Jesus fuck, just pick up a plant physiology book you tard, since you obviously lack the basics.

My girlfriend and I live together, and there are a lot of bunnies and shit around our house. Like a lot of them.
We've been living here for a year so far, and the bunnies have always been good companions.
However, about 5 weeks ago they've started dying. We would find them dead, and they're always on our deck. Every morning there's at least 2 dead rabbits on our back deck.
It isn't a coyote or something, because they're ripped open with a pattern of 5 claw marks. The first 4 are dense and the fingers seem to be close together, and there's one strangler finger.
They're always mutiliated, what animal is doing this?
Outside cats. They are a pest and deserve to be eradicated.
>inb4 crazy cat lady and all their bullshit
>>2221817
It can't be a cat, I'm postivive it isn't. The claw marks are too spread out to be a cat.
>>2221817
Remember that cats also destroy a large amount of the bird population.
Cat genocide now.

Looks like they aren't extinct after all.
>>2221733
Not enough evidence, but it's better than nothing.
>there are hundreds of australian animals close to extinction right now, and op cares about a ghost
Looks like a mangey dingo/coyote to me.
If a video is blurry and ambiguous, it's not good evidence.
https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2016/sep/16/norway-wolf-cull-government-wwf-friends-earth-environment-protest?cmp=oth_b-aplnews_d-2 and I thought Norway was super green
>>2221666
That's really weird that there is only 68 wolves in Norway. Are they causing a problem? What is the reasoning here.
>>2221666
Norway kills whales
>>2221686
Angry farmers and hunters. Wolves are not a problem. Sure they kill some sheep, but nothing compared to the sheep that simply die on their own. The sheep here are bred to give as much meat and wool as possible, and the way to keep sheep here is to release them into the forest and mountains during summer without supervision. A lot of them fall and break their legs, get lost, drown or die from diseases. Some get killed by predators. If the farmer can document that they were killed by predators they get a compensation from the state. Wolves are not a problem. To make it worse, Norway produce more sheep meat than we eat, and still Norway even imports sheep meat. It's madness. Traditions is strong here, and the farmers have some ridicoulus rights.
As for hunters. The way to hund moose here is to let your dog loose, find a moose and bark at it/chase it towards the hunter until the hunter can come and shoot it. If the hunting dogs run into wolves, the wolves will most likely kill them. So the hunters hate wolves.
The thing is, the majority of Norway wants to keep the wolves, but there's minority of angry and very local farmers and hunters in rural Norway who has now found a loophole to actually get this done. I'm furious. I live in the 'wolf zone' but since I don't hunt or keep sheep, my opinion means nothing.
Would anyone happen to know a good place for a gofundme to get some traction?
My sister's dog got cancer so they're trying to raise money for treatments
>>2221625
how come people owning a house, a tv and a car need to beg for money for a vet?
>>2221688
Treating cancer in dogs is very expensive. Even more than routine care that most people can easily afford.
Help me to collect most of sad doggo/puppies images /an/ons.
If you own a dog, this'll happen to it sooner than you think.

Protect the wildlife yo.
>>2221589
Start voting anti-immigration and anti-globalism then, so we can stop the ravaging of our wildlife for the benefit of foreign construction companies, immigrants who don't give a fuck about nature, and Chinese energy firms. Maybe we can collectively make them stop killing our green and pleasant land before it's too late.
Sup /an/ I need your help,
I was recently feeding a stray cat near my apartment and I think I got fleas from it. First strange bites started appearing near my ankles and since I sleep with my feet uncovered and there is a lot of mosquitoes here I thought it was them, but I found a god damn flea yesterday.
I've had four showers since then but I can't help feeling like these fuckers are crawling all over my skin and hair, there probably isn't many and I'm just tripping the fuck out but I still need help with this.
Have you ever gotten fleas from your pets or any animal? Is it dangerous? How do I RID MYSELF and my apartment if it contains any?
Help.
It's your fault for feeding such a horrible and pathetic creature.
burn everything
Vacuum , spray fleepoison (read the instructions on where to spray it, mostly in the plinths and tight spaces), repeat
Act fast before it gets too bad. I once had a MASSIVE infestation in my house for months when I was a student, it was so fucking awful.
Last thread, I posted my hypothesis of Longisquama being the common ancestor of birds and pterosaurs to the exclusion of dinosaurs. I presented evidence for my hypothesis, including the similarities of the skull of Longisquama to pterosaurs and birds, and the primitive, hard feathers on its back. If David Peters is correct, Longisquama is an even better ancestor for birds and pterosaurs because of its half-wing, half-patagia wings. Nevertheless, I was criticized by armchair paleontologists clinging on to the appealing but unconvincing theory of birds being theropod dinosaurs descended from species like T. rex. Here, I present a phylogenetic tree of the archosauria and present evidence for my hypothesis in this post.
- The skulls of the earliest dinosaurs like Herrerasaurus and Eoraptor are most similar to archosaurs like Postosuchus and Euparkeria, not to maniraptors or birds. Longisquama and pterosaur skulls are similar to birds, indicating a more recent common ancestry.
- Scansoriopterygids have similar traits to pterosaurs and maniraptors, such as a patagia and elongated fingers as well as feathers. They also predate birds and share a pygostyle.
- Megaraptorans share features of both tyrannosaurs and allosaurs, having allosaur-like hands but tyrannosaur-like skulls. They also only appear where tyrannosaurs and allosaurs co-existed, consistent with a hybrid origin. Hybrid vigor would contribute to their success.
I will post more evidence after this post as I may be reaching the post length limit.

- The aquatic nature of ankylosaurs and ceratopsians is supported by fossils found in China and Korea. Koreaceratops and Psitaccosaurus both show evidence of tail fins supported by spines used for swimming, and the new ankylosaur Liaoningosaurus shows evidence of an aquatic piscivorous lifestyle. Interestingly, the co-existence of Psitaccosaurus, Liaoningosaurus and the aquatic theropod Sinosauropteryx may indicate the Yixian as a large, shallow swamp or delta.
- The relation of true tyrannosaurs to allosaurs and Razanandrongobe is supported by tooth morphology, large size and evident capability of hybridization producing megaraptora.
- Perhaps my most radical idea is the relation of oviraptorosaurs and Sylviornis. This is supported by the similarities of Sylviornis to the oviraptorosaurs Protarcharopteryx and Caudipteryx. Indeed, Sylviornis shows more caudal vertebrae than extant true birds and a "dinosaur-like" rib cage and pelvis. This indicates Sylviornis was a late surviving oviraptorosaur.
- Entantiornithes are an excellent transitional form between scansoriopterygidae and neornithes due to their precense of bird-like wings, wing claws and teeth.
>>2221528
- The descent of sauropods from, protorosaurus is supported by their shared long neck and shared omnivorous diet and lightly-built nature of early sauropods and protorosaurs.
- An ornithopod-Cosesaurus grouping is supported by Cosesaurus' bird-like pubis and light-built nature. Spines and frills like those found on Cosesaurus are also found on Kulindapteryx.
I know this is asked a lot but it is a very serious question. Are any other these bed bugs?
A squished one
My camera is garbage and this is the best I can do
Tried to get a better picture of the small ones
/an/ you lied to me. Just got a rabbit, and they are like quiet little dogs. They don't lack personality at all.
>>2221399
>only getting a single rabbit
congrats, you already failed as its keeper
>>2221399
Majority of the people on this board are cat or dog owners who's experience with rabbits has been limited to having a class pet at school or having one as a kid that quickly died from neglect.
Rabbits are fun pets, my current bunny curls up on my back if I lay on the floor.
>>2221401
I spend a shitload of time with him now, are they that much better off with a friend? I'm not opposed to it, at least once he's neutered.
Wasn't really planning on getting one since he was a spur of the moment rescue. (yes, I got all the supplies and whatnot already)
What are some animals that make weird/fucked up sounds
>>2221380
All of them, if you squeeze them hard enough.
>>2221380
An out-of-water catfish.
>>2221380
Fennec Foxes, they have this shrill screech when they are excited, it's both adorable and unnerving at the same time.
Cats like me but dogs don't, why?
>>2221365
What's an example of a dog not liking you? Do they attack you? All sizes of dogs? What kind of person is not liked by most dogs? Do you live in a shitty place with shitty people who raise shitty dogs? Because in my experience dogs like pretty much everyone who isn't a harassing toddler or an intruder.
Somewhat unrelated but does anyone else feel weird around cats? I grew up with dogs and currently have dogs in my life so I'm familiar with their body language and behavioral cues.
I don't know anything about cats so I'm always unsure how to interact with them
Body language.
If you get a razorback as a piglet is there any reason you can't acclimate them to other animals and train them like other pigs?
I know they will eat young goats and sheep in the wild but if they were raised with them (and had a steady food source so they don't start looking at the young livestock) will they bother them? I have read that domestic pigs will leave livestock alone and even adopt a herd, would a razorback do the same?
Also is there any problem training them like you can with domestic hogs? The reason i am asking is that i had the idea that they might make a decent anti coyote animal if they adopt a herd of goats, once they reach adulthood the coyote is more likely to become food than the hog.
If it helps i am in an area with no wild hogs and that can't really sustain them even if they were introduced.

Where i am a guard dog is coyote food or worse, it's new GF/BF.
>>2221369
Also Dog<Black Bear.
I know a adult razorback can't (usually) stand up to a adult black bear but the bear will go for a easier meal 99% of the time.
