Let's bring back the Caribbean Monk Seal!

It's too late plont, they've already been infected. Circumglobal distribution of Toxoplasmosis when?
>>2221223
>they've already been infected
then they'd be extinct, sea otters die from it.
What are some somewhat easy to keep houseplants that are good for having in a smokers house? We keep the windows and doors open too, but would like a little extra fresh air for those of us who don't smoke.
plants aren't going to make your house smell less like shit, sorry.
>>2221165
Not looking to cover the smell just help filter the air a bit.
>>2221167
unless you've smoked recently the air is already filtered, that stench is coming from your house itself.
So, who is gonna claim the 2222222?
this board is so slow that's weeks away.
>>2221131
it'll be months if you do us all a favor and stop posting
>>2221135
General identification thread, possibly it's gonna turn out for insects.
Can anyone identify this huge fat caterpillar? South Eastern Europe area
A couple of pics extra
Last one before I threw him out. He was pretty lively, thrashing strongly about
I'm in a bad situation and I don't know what to do, I need second opinions.
I've had this baby painted turtle for over a year now, and she's been doing good until recently.
And before we start, yes I know about the 4 inches shell legal thing, I got the turtle from my stupid cousins who went down south (Amerifag) on vacation and "surprised" me with an illegal baby turt.
Anyway, I have her in a 39 gallon tank, 1 filter meant for 75 gallons in there and another 20 gal sponge filter for supplement. I have the UVB, the heat, and the basking dock, I condition the water and I try to clean at least 2x a month. She's always had a good mixed diet of Reptomins, insects, worms and vegetables. She's a very good eater, even now
Anyway, so despite all of my care efforts, she seemed to have fucked up shell and never shed her scutes. We have really hard water here, so when I saw signs of shell rot on the sides of her shell, I figured that the liquid rock water I have caused her to retain scutes.
I then made the awful mistake of manually peeling what I'd assumed were the retained scutes off, leading to what you see in pic related. It's been like this for app. 2 months now, and I don't know what to do. Her entire top shell is soft and spongy, with hardly any differentiation between scutes; it just looks like one big, flat, scabby surface now. It keeps scabbing and falling off, and the rear of the top is now down to her ass because the rim of scales has degraded down.
I've been changing the water weekly, cleaning, adding antibacterial water applicant, and I even placed a large piece of driftwood in there to soften the water. And yet the shell is still soft and flaky.
No clinic around me within reason will see reptiles because shitty location, and regardless, due to paying fir college and living costs, I'd prefer not to have to spend 100s of dollars on treatment unless there is LITERALLY nothing I can do.
Will she heal from this? Or should I look into some sort of euthanasia?
>>2221011
Turtles are surprisingly durable.
I've seen ones that had been run over and their shells wired together while they healed.
But they're also slow growing.
Box turtles take 20 years to reach adult size.
I doubts its suffering, just has shell issues.
It will heal.
How much of the tank is water?
It should be like 50/50 land / water.
They're pond turtles but spend most of the day basking on logs or on the banks, high and dry.
>>2221036
>It will heal.
>when the shell keeps rotting away for months and is already soft
if OP doesn't go to a vet he might as well put it down, this isn't a case of "it will just magically start healing". it probably has progressed below the shell as well
>>2221036
I've thought the same thing. But I've also thought like >>2221041, too. It has showed only signs of degradation since I fucked up, and at this point I'm honestly wondering if there is anything that even a vet could do. There are spots around the edge of the shell with porous, soft bone exposed, I'm worried an infection could actually start inside her. I genuinely care about the turtle, I know I fucked up and I just want to do what will cause the least amount of suffering.
And to answer the question, the tank is only about 6 inches shy of full, with a large basking dock and a few half-submerged fake plants for her to rest on in the water
Is RodentPro a good site to buy Mice from? I am tired of paying $3 per mouse, it's becoming expensive!
I am looking for medium sized mice, not sure which one that is on the site.
Anyways, thanks a lot! I would appreciate the advice.
>>2221006
Yes. Big Cheese is great too. Big Cheese' site lists them in order of size with weight range listed as well. A medium is either a hopper or a small adult.
>>2221094
Ah they don't have small adults or similar in RodentPro. How are the prices? Like I really need medium ones that is what my Snake needs.
>>2221249
The prices are on the website, anon. Geez.

Good post
Enjoy your toxoplasmosis friend!
cate and friends
About 6 months ago, somebody moved out of my neighborhood and abandoned a cat who had been an indoor cat it's whole life. It quickly turned into a really skinny cat, and then we started seeing dead animals around.
He was meowing a lot and my daughter got concerned, so we got him a couple cans of food and started feeding him. Then we let him into the house and named him Buddy. He's really nice and playful and kinda sweet, but we quickly learned that Buddy had a serious issue.
He's a tremendously successful killer, mostly of rodents, which is nice for the homes around here.
I started taking pics of all his kills. Is this an appropriate board to post those pics? Or will I get banned? Should I take this crap to /b/?
He's mostly a really sweet little man, but is also just an effecient killing machine
>>2220952
Fuck off with your invasive pest.
>>2220974
He's not a pest. He's the predator in his environment. Isn't that natural?
Do you own any meme dogs such as doge or shoobies?
I have a shoob
What's a shoob?
>>2220918
That's not a Samoyed, it's an American Eskimo or a Japanese Spitz.
Shoobs are samoyeds/eskimos/japanese spitzs
Guys, I need help.
My cat's eye is turning grey/losing its color for some reason, and this happened out of nowhere.
I can't take her to the vet today because it's sunday, but I'll do it tomorrow. I just want to know what is this and what I can do for now.
Pic related, it's the right eye. I can't get a better picture because she won't look at the camera.
>>2220843
Pop the eye out and you won't have to look at it anymore
>>2220843
looks like she might be getting...
cataracts...
>>2220875
She isn't even a year old, and it's not the pupil that's getting grey, but the whole eye.
Can someone tell me what kind of trees there are in this image?
anyone?
>>2220828
Looks like some kind of oak to me. Do you know where that was taken, by chance?

Does anybody know anything about training a cat out of being a little shithead?
>tl;dr Cat suddenly has behavioural issues with pissing on my bed. Been to the vet, isn't medical.
Over the past couple of weeks my cat has suddenly taken a disliking to my partner (who she has known since I've had her) and started getting jealous.
Every time I go away for too long (usually to partner's house, come back smelling of him?) I come home to find piss on my bed or the floor. Every time my partner comes over, she pisses on the bed where he was sitting after he leaves. If I don't pay immediate attention to her while at my computer, she pisses on the bed or the floor next to me.
>Go to his house from Friday night - Sun morning.
>Housemate makes sure to leave my bedroom door open, giving her access to both litters in room and bathroom.
>I come home to find three separate puddles of piss on bed, two giant shits in my clean laundry and another puddle next to computer.
>Clean everything thoroughly with bleach.
>A few hours later, she jumps onto my lap while I'm playing games. Gently put her on bed next to me instead.
>Turn around not five minutes later, piss all over freshly cleaned bed.
I have no fucking idea what to do about this. I put her in the litter after she does it, but I never catch her in the act to do it soon enough.
kill it
or enjoy smelling like piss and shit forever
Adding:
She's about to turn 2 in October, my boyfriend hasn't changed anything about his scent, and nobody has ever smacked her or anything weird like that.
I've never even had to use a spray bottle because she's otherwise really well trained - Comes when called, doesn't beg, doesn't jump on shit she shouldn't or scratch, etc.
>>2220810
ngl It's an option.
>someone on fagbook is soliciting gofundme donations for their dead cat
i hate these people so much
>>2220805
Did it rack up medical bills before it died? Or are they just looking for pity money?
pay them in toxoplasmosis.
Does it ever feel like people who post on /an/ seem to be lacking in higher functional thought?
Hey /an/, just had my dog out and when I picked up her poo this was on the bottom side of it that touched the grass. I checked other spots of the poo and didn't see any more of these worms.
I looked up pictures of intestinal worms and they didn't seem to match with what I found.
She's a recent adoption from a foster so I figured they would have had her on a dewormer, which is why I'm a bit confused at the moment.
I'll likely take her in tomorrow with a stool sample just in case.
Looks like tapes. They won't be killed by a regular dewormer; you'll have to get a different medicine from the vet. If I remember correctly it's one large pill/treat thing once, and then another two weeks later to kill any eggs they left behind that have hatched.
Check her for fleas too as it's likely that's where she got the tapes.
>>2220826
Forgot to mention that, since you're taking a stool sample to the vet, let them KNOW you saw them. It won't always test positive for tapes even though they're clearly there. Happened to my dog even though I literally bagged up a turd with worms all over it--dont know where they went, but the vet couldnt find them by the time I got there
Are echidnas considered to be classified as marsupial too?
I mean, I know they lay eggs (they are part of the Monotreme order), but they also keep their babies in pocket once they hatch, a marsupial trait.
I know platypuses aren't marsupials (they don't have pocket at all, but are closely related to echidnas.
Are echidnas a sort of bridge between monotremes and marsupials?
>>2220737
okay

Here's a good documentary on it and why.
