Anybody here own mice, or have any experience with them? I'm bringing one home within the next week, it's a cute little female that was born at the pet shop where I work (we breed pinky mice as feeders in the back). She was the only light colored one of the bunch and I've been holding her for a while every day since she's opened her eyes. She's quite calm once you have ahold of her, never tries to jump off of you, and will even sit in my hands and groom herself sometimes. She's a tiny thing still but is weaned off her mother and is good to go once I have everything set up.
My biggest concern is what I should feed her. We have bulk food at the store, but I've heard it's horrible for them and it contains corn, soybeans and fruit pieces. I know corn can cause cancer in them, I'm pretty sure soybeans aren't any good, either, and the fruity shit is bound to be chock full of calories and sugar. There's also a ton of other Fatty shit in there, too, hardly any of it is the actual pellets. All of the prepackaged rodent feed we have is for either rats or guinea pigs, and I've heard that feeding them rat food can kill them after a while.
I do live around a bunch of farm supply stores with bulk seed bins, one of my managers said she used to get a bunch of stuff from those for her rats because she too thought the bulk food was shit.
Also, I'm having a hard time finding a suitable cage. All of the ones we have are plastic, and I've heard that chewing on plastic can make them sick. Ideally I'd like a metal mouse cage but I don't know where I'd get one. I don't currently have a card to buy shit online with so buying from Amazon or something is out of the question. What kind of irl places could I look for a good mouse cage?
And don't worry, I plan on getting her a mouse buddy in the near future, I know that females need companionship. I'm just going to wait until she grows a liiittle more and I find another pretty mouse to fit how pretty and sweet she is.
Pic similar to her

seeds are really high in fat, which isn't great. maizuri or oxbow lab blocks are considered the best food. you can look up suebee's rat mix, it's mostly a grain mix. as far as cages... I've seen metal hamster cages, if the bars are too wide you can get chicken wire to cover the cage in so they can't fit through the bars.
to my understanding mice are more territorial and less social than rats so it might be best to bring home a littermate. not sure on that though.
>>2219325
I've heard that only males are territorial. Unfortunately she's the only one of her litter left, right now she's in there with her mother and what I guess would be her aunt lol. There is another litter of mice that was born in a different cage that was born around the same time, maybe I could get one of those guys.
It's weird, for as long as mice have been domesticated you'd think we'd have a better idea of what to feed them. So far the only consistent thing I've heard is that a good mix can consist of
>whole oats
>millet mix
>rice
>and optionally some sort of dog food maybe?
But I've heard that brands like Oxbow and Kaytee aren't very good, especially Kaytee. If what some people on those dad forums say is right, then Kaytee is run by some hardcore Jew shillmasters.
Which is also just awesome on the subject of cages, too, because the only brand we carry are Kaytee ones.
Also I'd fuckin kill for a mouse like pic related. Colourpoint is my absolute favorite coat pattern on almost any animal
Here is the only pic I've been able to get of her. She super timid about movement outside of the cage so she usually hides when I walk up.
It's also worth noting that, aside from family dogs, this will be the first warm-blooded pet I've ever personally owned. I currently have 12 reptiles and amphibians, and a shit ton of fish, so I'm nowhere near new to the pet scene
Yet it's weird but cool knowing I'll have a pet that I can actually feed cool little plant-based treats and things like that as opposed to insects and pellets. It'll be like a whole new pet owning experience
Any bonsaifags around?
Post your creations, inspo, tips, tricks, questions and answers here.
Bump. Come on, I know we used to have bonsai threads.
Fuckin' love looking at bonsai, but I doubt there are many growers here. Rarely do NEETs and retired Japs enter the same social circles online.
Here's a lewd ficus religiosa

Please red pill me on prong collars.
it's called a choke collar. you're not sposta do that anon.
>>2219128
It's literally a choke collar that goes one step beyond and also pokes their necks in addition to choking them. Literally the most inhumane shit ever and fucking retards still shill them as "hurr durr dominating dogs, being alpha" and all that cal.
What's the fucking point of these things anyways?
Hello /an/! A cute spider is camping out on my wall, I am wondering what kind it is!
Here is another picture of the lil guy.
>>2224859
The pictures are pretty bad but I'm guessing some Steatoda species.
>>2224890
Sorry, it's hard to get a good focus, and my lighting is terrible! Thank you though!

will Hydrochloric Acid kill the fleas?
Probably pretty bad for your pet too
>>2224665
The goddamn things apparently give no shit about the "softer" stuff that people already tell me I shouldn't be letting my pet near anyway.
After I tried the poison I've been vaccuming the place every fucking day for the last week, and I don't even let my dog in anymore. But they keep popping up.
Seriously I don't even know anymore.
>>2224663
Just dip it in a bucket full of liquid nitrogen.
My cat hates it's head being touched, why?
I got Rusty 3 years ago from a shelter (they didn't know his age but i'm guessing he's 7-10) at first he was a little skittish and i thought he could have been abused and that's why he didn't like his head touched but now that it's been 3 years he still doesn't like it even though he 100% likes and trusts me now.
>>2224366
because it's a shit pet. just put it down and get a dog or bunny or something
>>2224366
Maybe he just doesnt like it. Wouldnt worry too much about it. cats can be weird
neighboring apartment's cat stink is wafting into mine
what can i do to get rid of it?
i've sealed the front door and use the fire escape instead but i can still smell it
incense works temporarily but i'm looking for something more permanent
complain to your neighbors? if that doesn't work, complain to management. I guarantee they're disgusting slobs if you can smell the litter box from the next apartment.
>>2224129
No. Cats just fucking reek. You can easily smell a litter box from another apartment even if it is cleaned every day.
>>2224130
oh my god please stop with this meme
Apologies if this is unrelated, but I don't have health insurance to get checked out.
I would really appreciate any help.
I woke up and found I had a mark on my neck (spider bite I assume) and right now I feel my eyes burning, somewhat feverish, dizzy, nauseous, weak, and the bite area feels irritated and painful and has swollen my neck.
Would you guys be able to somewhat tell what spider might've caused the bite so I can prepare?
It has currently been about 7 hours since seeing the bite mark.
Pic related, is the bite.
>>2224071
In all seriousness it symptoms of a brown recluse bite
>>2224073
Fuck, that isn't good. Especially since I live in Missouri. That really isn't good if that's the case since I really don't have health insurance.
>>2224071
You're telling me you don't have Obama care? Uh oh goym, now you're gonna get it

Average cat owner
hey /an/
I have a bully type doggie, and as it appears i have to take him to at least 5 shows, as it was stated in the contract when i bought him.
However, as i've taught him, the basic stuff he does is sitting. And that means for treats, for petting, for whatever. I've also taught him that he shouldn't go for food unless i allow him.
However this means that the usual stuff to teach him how to stand (for show and stuff) is kinda useless, as when i try to lure him with a treat he just sits and tries to give paws for the treat.
Anyone has been in the same situation?
How can i teach him to stand and stay standing for like 5 minutes for a show?
Any ideas are welcome
>>2223946
your kind aren't wanted here.
1. If you were a breeder or handler you'd know this already
2. Bullies aren't a breed in the AKC or any similar international registry.
>>2223946
Please explain this contract OP, some breeders just want thier dogs to remain associated with local clubs that do shows.
I have experience with obedience training for 4H. The reason your dog only sits when you give him commands is because that is the only one he has learned. Now you need to work on all the other basic commands like heel, stay, and down.
If you want advice or help nothing beats hands on. Every one of these shows you are talking about is put on by some kind of club or group, start there.
Update on the backdoor frogs!
I now have 4! They are sleeping in another spot today for some reason, but seem content enough. Sadly a few weeks ago one of them got caught in the sliding door and lost a leg. I didn't want to put it down because it had a pretty good life... no predators where they were and all the food they could eat. Thought maybe it would be able to live with one leg.
I haven't seen it since, however looking in this picture it LOOKS like the second from the top (not the one we can see it's head) is missing it's back left leg. I can make out an eye and a right leg but where the left leg would be seems to just be all body.
I don't want to disturb them just to see if this is him, but I believe it is and that makes me happy that it's survived. And now there are four!
>>2223944
Why not make something else for them to hide in?

aren't those toads?
I love it when positive only faggots whine about things being mean to dogs and >muh pet's feelings, and all that shit, but if you look at dogs such as military working dogs, or protection dogs they'll all have been trained using dominance and correction based training and they're some of the most obedient and highly trained dogs on the planet.
These dogs are fiercely loyal, trained to the highest level and are extremely obedient. And they don't do it out of fear. They do it because they want to, they enjoy it and because they're pleasing their owners.
Positive faggots think any sort of correction or display of dominance will cause a dog to shut down and get scared and not listen or be trainable.
Why do people seem to selectively forget working dogs when people talk about the best ways to train a dog? I would listen to a working dog trainer's advice over some positive only guy any day.
Discuss.
>>2223942
This seems to be something that should be done by a professional. I don't know if Joe Blow should be training with this method due to inexperience.
>>2223943
Yes, that's true. But the point is you don't see MWDs being coddled and being given treats when they do something bad and being told "that's okay, do this next time". They're corrected, they're shown that the human is in charge no matter what, and shown what needs to be done.
Every thing positive trainers say not to do is done with extreme success. That's what I'm saying.
>>2223948
did you somehow miss the fact that positive training literally means rewarding good behaviour and punishing the bad ditto?
somehow, I get the feeling that you confused the term "positive" in positive training with the self help definition of the term
Anyone knows what kind of spider is this? I have never seen it before.
Found in northern Mexico, Monterrey to be precise
>>2223700
I got dubs btw
it's a lynx spider
>>2223702
Is it venomous?
Any special details?
