Because the last time we tried that we ended up with killer bees.

So I live in Mendocino county California, and I just seen a small (and what I think to be) wildcat. It was longer than a normal house cat , but around the height of a larger one. It's ears were round, not pointy, and it was gray with dark stripes above all four of its feet with a long tail. I thought it had smooth fur, but my boyfriend-who's seen it twice before this, thinks it's fluffy.

It wasn't a bobcat or lynx, and if it wasn't for the colors, I would have normally called it an ocelot, as it had that same shape. Any idea what kind of cat it is? Google isn't helping with pictures of northern cats right now.

Hello /an/
A few days ago, almost a week now some human trash left a blind dog in my street. The dog is skinny, with several skin injuries through his body.
It feels like his previous owner blinded at least one eye since it's swollen. I took the doc to a vet nearby but they are know here for being "butchers" so for now I'm taking care of the dog.

My neighbors are also helping by giving food and medication for the injuries. The dog is super friendly with everyone on the street.

Anyone here with experience with a blind dog could give me some advice?

Also I've filmed this after my aunt told me there was a blind dog in the street. I washed him shortly after the video with a soap for scabies and fungi.

hi /an/, i wish i could talk to a pro about this, but i've already seen 2 vets, and the problem doesn't get solved, and i've already spent a lot of money on this

3 weeks ago I got a new puppy, it looked normal and healthy
14 days ago: mild diarrhea started
12 days ago: the diarrhea turned watery, the puppy refused to eat, so it was taken to an emergency vet, and stayed hospitalized 4 days (fed through blood stream), time during which the diarrhea didn't subside. it received injections to boost its immune system.
7 days ago: the puppy returned home. the vet prescribed the following meds: metronidazole (antibiotic), ranitidine (something that decreases stomach acid production), trimetoprim and sulfametoxazol (broad spectre antibiotic). the food it has been eating these days is hills digestive care
6 days ago: the puppy ate just fine. diarrhea continued, but now with small drops of blood. the vet said it was because the puppy's intestine is delicate, and gave us some probiotics, and vitamins
yesterday and today: diarrhea like in the pic attached started. the puppy is still cheerful, and eats just fine.

additional facts:
-blood tests were made, the first one had a very low white blood cell count (half of what it should've been), 3 days after the leukocyte level was back to normal. the initial low count is what made the vet think it's a viral problem
-it was given worming medications
-the vet's diagnosis is: viral gastroenteritis
-the puppy's siblings are doing fine, nothing's wrong with them
-no other symptoms

i'm starting to get desperate because the puppy has been having diarrhea for 2 weeks, and i'm really skeptical about the medications the vet prescribed. i think if i had a bloody diarrhea, no doctor would tell me to drink some yakult, and that's it. also, why would the vet give it antibiotics, considering the problem is viral?

i'm not asking for a diagnosis on the internet, i'm just asking for opinions so i can decide what to do next. please, help.

My rabbit that I've had for nearly 8 years died today. I woke up an hour earlier than usual and still saw him moving his head. After I fell asleep again and woke up an hour later he was already dead.

I got him in my first half of my senior year of high school, and had him until now, the first half of my fourth year of Ph.D. I didn't think he would die before my graduation after being so used to coming home for 8 years and seeing him waiting. Instead, he died just short of two weeks before my birthday. Today is the first time in 8 years that I came home to see the corner in which his cage and food/toys were empty. He was the only friend and companion I had and today he lays underground in my background.

I don't see myself getting any other pet anytime soon, and even then I doubt it will be anything other than fish. I'm not one for documenting my life in pictures, and unfortunately this is the newest picture I have of him. I'll post the few other pics I have of him when he was still less than a year old. I did have a couple of pictures of him the day that I got him, but after looking everywhere that I have digital media stored I was unable to find them.

>Start to wonder why chipmunks aren't domesticated to be pets like other rodents like hampsters, gerbils, rats and much etc.
>Wonder the same about chickadees which are about the same size of finches, might even be the same species.

How long of a process would it be to try and breed chipmunks and chickadees as pet?
Would there be a market for it?

Also wondered the same thing about Sunfish. They have very cichlid like markings and there might even me a market for them if they were breed down a bit.

>how long of a process
Insanely long, they need to be kept in captivity and have an insane amount of human socializing over a long period of time. They'll also need to have a curious and friendly disposition from the start.

>would there be a market
Yeah of course.

>sunfish
>can get insanely large and wide
>breeding down a fish that averages 550-2000lbs in weight

I guess you could but it's not likely.

I've seen chipmunks for sale on pet stores. The problem with them and squirrels is that they're nuts. They be kept in tiny cages. They zip around very fast and near impossible to catch if they don't come back to you. At least with southern and northern flying squirrels they sleep a shit ton.

Chipmunks at my job at tame enough that they will jump onto me. But these are busy animals. They just want food. They naturally forage and run around everywhere even if they are well fed, and can be very, very destructive. Even gerbils are fast as fuck and have better things to do. You can handle them but they rather run around and explore. Theyre very hyper and active, like squirrels. I could only have 1 on 1 time with gerbils in a closed off bathroom otherwise I'd lose them. Even my sugar gliders glide around like nuts but at least if you hold out your hand they'll come back.

As for chickadees why even bother? Finches and Canaries known to be friendly, perching birds. Not every animal needs to be in the pet trade. There is plenty better options to chose from.

So my husky has been acting up (Biting, howling, barking), and i usually just hit him with a shoe on the head and he stops, but now he's just biting the shoe and me. I know huskies are a very tolerant, proud and easy dog, but he's doing too much. If i put him in a smaller cage will he learn to act a little better?

People who get their dogs based on looks are fucking faggots and are the reason entire breeds are fucked up. The German Shepherd is a prime example.

The right dog for someone is never the wrong size or color.
