/an/, what algae is this covering these mysteries at a local Walmart? So sad
I mean it's walmart so I'm sure everything is taken care of horifically, but algae on a snail's shell isn't harmful at all.

If I got one would it spread algae to my other snails? I feel sorry for them
Must belong to the Metazoa kingdom
Deep sea creatures and certain multilegged bugs

Here have both

what is that?
Ants, what is their endgame?
They are multiplying rapidly and have taken over most of the world. Empires popping out queens making more empires. They kind of remind me of the zerg from starcraft.
What are they planning?
>>2226672
>Ants, what is their endgame?
Surviving and maintaing their species what else.
They make good pets too.
>ants, what's their endgame?
What the fuck kind of retarded question is this?
Do you have brain damage? Downs? Just not very bright?
They're building underground bunkers so they can survive the inevitable nuclear holocaust. When humanity is wiped out, they will devour our corpses and use the radioactive fallout to gain superpowers.

There might be something more about this channel. Saw it being shared on a dog sharing forum and it did point something out. At first, it seems pretty harmless, but if you really look into it, you will find some strange things. The channels description talks helping people ascend, and if you read some of the video descriptions, it seems as if the guy is worshipping his dog like a god.
The channel is called FULL 3D OTIS and is worth a look or two.

Cute dog.
>>2224757
I've seen these kinds of videos before. The owner likely has schizophrenia and possibly also OCD. Their actions may be strange, but these dog videos aren't exceptional.

This is unusual? Sounds like a typical dogfag.
We always complain about cat, dog, fish, or snake owners. What about bird owners? Does anyone else experience this? Is it a latino thing? Or are most bird owners crap?
It seems like most budgie owners think all a budgie needs is a swing, some toys, their cage cleaned once a week, and food/water changes every few days. Every budgie owner I've met acts like I'm some hippy extremist for even suggesting you need to let your bird out of the cage. And giving them vegetables and fruits? Out of the question. All they need is bird food, nothing else. No mineral block, no vegetables, just pellets. Taking birds to a vet is also absurd to people. "They're just birds" after all. It costs too much. It's no wonder most of these birds die within 3 years of being bought. I feel so bad for them. They don't know what it's like to be pet and are bored out of their minds.
I know macaw owners tend to be awful. They want a cute bird but don't realize they last literally decades.
>>2217821
Birds are very often abused. I volunteer at a bird sanctuary, those of us who know how to take care of a bird and who realize what a HUGE responsibility they are tend to do well. You're right though, people get them thinking they only need food and a cage, without realizing their needs or how long they live. This is why we have so many damaged birds at the sanctuary.
>>2217821
>previous housemate used to brag about how his budgies wouldn't leave their cage and were super low maintenance
>berated me for letting my birds out, getting them an admittedly huge cage, playing with them daily and so on

If i was able i would let my cockatiel get out of the cage when i go to school but i'm afraid that my dumbass sister's pitbull will get in the room and kill him.
do you support trophy hunting for conservation efforts? why or why not
>>2231541
I'm happy that we finally live in a time where it has become acceptable for women to engage in traditionally "masculine" activities. Of course, conservatives will evoke pseudo-arguments like "killng is worng" or "muh feels" to put the woman in place.
You go gurl. Don't take any shit from the haters.
>>2231541
Yes.
>why
Because it helps conservation.
>why not
Indeed, why not?

Neat
Is this what you speak of?
I bought a pass, for the good of the clan
I doubt /an/ would be a candidate for removal. It's low traffic and low bandwidth. More likely boards that soak up a lot of bandwidth relative to their regular user base. So stuff like hd wallpapers board, /s4s/, some of the porn boards.

And /pol/. We can all hope for /pol/'s closure.
How come there are big cats but no big dogs? All they have are wolves.

Because cats are superior predators.

Discuss anything aquarium related here, including inhabitants, decor and issues.
Google is your friend.
Feel free to ask questions but know that there are a lot of resources out there that could answer your question a lot faster and accurately than /an/.
Make sure to include these things in your post before asking because we can't help you if we don't have the full picture:
-tank size
-parameters
-any and all inhabitants + how long you've had them
Links:
>How to cycle your tank: http://pastebin.com/x4WnB0Ah
>General aquarium care sheets - http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/
>Livestock and plants for sale - http://www.petsolutions.com/ http://www.aquabid.com
>Useful & Extensive database for aquatic plants and their parameters - http://www.flowgrow.de/db/aquaticplants
Removed the dead link and the rude Google part. Google is already mentioned in the beginning of the post so putting it twice is redundant and slightly shitpostful.

What's a good plant I could grow on this that would make a good treat for guppies?
Hope long do ghost shrimps usually live? Mine just dropped dead for no apparent reason.

I'm kind of sad now.
Massive chrysocolla w/ azurite. Arizona. Mailed to him as part of the mineral of the month club.
Why are cats allowed outside? No, this isn't an anti-outside cat thread. Don't debate that crap here. I mean literally why. Why did the trend start? People don't let their dogs, ferrets, horses, goats, birds, efc run wild. They're always enclosed or at most only allowed on their property. Cats however are allowed to roam unsupervised anywhere they want. They seem like the one exception. How come?
>>2234139
Because cats were used to kill vermin on barns and shit, which just carried over to pet cats that have no business going hunting.
>>2234150
Aren't barn cats different from outside cats? They're just ferals that live on your property. Most farmers don't even pet them or tame them.
Cats, like dogs, developed as outdoor animals. After a while, people started letting their animals inside, fencing them in, tying them out etc. However this didn't really flow over to cats. So it's not so much as a trend starting, but a trend not changing with the times.
I thinks there's an easy way to explain why; People started to keep animals more closely as possession as they become more valuable. You don't let your dinner for a month walk onto someone else's property, or your hunting tool get snatched up by someone else. A cat was not detrimental, and they were, and still are, a dime a dozen. Now, while cows and horses and goats and dogs and parrots and reptiles are still worth something, cats still aren't. They are still a dime a dozen, they are more useless now than ever before, and their owners don't put as big of an emphasis on them while they are living.
Tl;dr- cats are worthless.
PetSmart/PetCo/general pet shop thread
So a few months ago one of these threads was up. I asked about Guinea pig shipments and mentioned a vendor being under investigation. Lo and behold, in August, they were charged with animal cruelty.
Anyway, can we get another thread started? Stories, experiences, questions.
>walk into petco
>fancy hamsters mislabeled as mice
>dwarf hamsters mislabeled as gerbils
>all signs say getting just one is fine, no need for companionship
>anoles packed into tank smaller than my travel-size

Hamsters tend to do better alone.. Or were you talking about gerbils and mice?
>>2229100
Syrian hams are solitary animals but the other hamsters do better in groups.

We need cats. The benefits of cats outweigh the disadvantages.
