Hello I have a res and something frighting just happend.
I went to my room to see her sleeping I turned on the light and this usually wakes her but it didn't so I turned on her tank light. still asleep. Getting kinda worried now I pick her up. She wakes so I put her back in the watch but she doesn't swim just sits. So I start to nudge her back to get her to move cuz I was still very scared for her. She didn't start swimming but rather just walked on the bottom of her tank eating scraps I hadn't cleaned yet and when she went to get more air she nearly flipped!
This turtle is causing me so much stress. Shes a few months old and I still only have a 10gallon and no uvb light. I think she is going to have eggs and this stresses me due to the fear of egg binding and death. I'm trying to get a bigger tank and uvb but I can't afford it T-T
Got pic off google but it looks almost just like how she sleeps
if only full spectrum light was commonly available and totally free

Tank glass removes the vitamin D from sunlight that they need
>>2233014
You should just get rid of the turtle, you don't sound qualified at all to keep one.
You can't even afford a basic setup for one. What would you do if it needed a vet? Let it die?
What do you feed it? Shitty pellets from the pet store?
RES take years to reach sexual maturity and even then most probably need to hibernate before they even start producing eggs. My yellow slider is 10 years old and has never laid any.
what is this it was in my back yard

some sorta dragon fruit?
>>2232993
i was thinking a fruit too but i dont know about that. its fuzzy sort of like a peach and theres no crazy trees or anything around here

How do we endanger mosquitos?
engineer mosquito AIDS
>>2232980
We don't. They have been around long, long before us, and they will be around long after we are gone.
In some places they are doing it by genetically engineering sterile male mosquitos (which do not bite unlike females), feeding them a lot so they get big and sexually attractive, then releasing them in mosquito heavy areas. The female breed with them, nothing happens, and the mosquitoes die out.
Do you give your animals a voice and then speak what you think they must be thinking in said voice? Is this normal or is my whole family psychotic?
>>2232942
I do this.
but I'm psychotic.
I do this with every single animal I encounter. Mostly in my head, but my pets and friends' pets are out loud.
I also play a game where I pick up my cats and walk wherever they turn their heads. After a while, they get used to using me as a mecha suit and mostly use their new human height to look out various windows and reach tall things. They usually only get stuck in a corner once or twice before they figure it out.
Oh absolutely I do. It's fun to talk to them and make up their responses. Usually in a way that makes fun of them, not that they are insulted by it.
Dear god, help me /an/!!
It's started, in my own garage!!
RIP OP

No anon! I need you to grab a shotgun, run to the nearest mall, stand on a podium, and started yelling loudly into the mic-'CA CAW CA CAW, TOOKI TOOKI!!'

Those look like solider fly larvae. They're excellent live food for just about anything, you should be happy.
Any idea of what kind of tissue might be?
looks kind of like an organism with an open digestive track...do you have more information on the origin of this?
I dont have much information. The only thing i know is that has been stained with Hematoxylin Eosin
Here is a closer look
Look what I found on my backyard
>>2232799
Woah, those are some big brown recluse larvae!
They're kind of cute
I want to keep them
They're 4, I'm going to name them like the Beatles
Bees would never be at risk, they said. No way bees could become endangered, they said

>this meme again
I think every neighborhood ought to have a government subsidized bee keeper or some shit
I know that bees in general are facing problems, but as someone from Hawaii I have to say.
>Native Land Species
>Not endangered, crit, or extinct
I have a mole on my property, how can I catch and relocate it without harming it? Chasing it away is not an option, I need a way to trap it. Thanks /an/.
Humane rat trap. Put it in one of the tunnels.
>>2232754
>he thinks he only has one mole in his entire yard
>>2233398
shhh. don't spoil it.
Sadly, i got no more info than this pic. Any ideas?
Norfolk Pine comes in mind but I know it isnt. Not quite sure.
Thought it might be an olive tree, but still no.
any more ideas?

I need a close up here
/an/'s opinion on corgis?
cute! CUTE!
>>2232557
Have a family member who has owned Pembroke Corgis and they've all been great.
I'm currently living with them and as they're busy working, I basically raise theirs myself. The one they have now is one of the sweetest dogs ever. If it could wake up, snuggle on your lap all day and then go to sleep when the day is over it would be content. They're also generally really energetic, but theirs is pretty calm for a Corgi.
Either way, 11/10 dogs overall and maximum/10 on the cuteness scale.

Cuties
I accidentally cut off a fairly large north eastern toads back foot by dragging it with a cart not knowing his foot was stuck. I feel really bad and am not sure what to do with it. I moved him to a dark grassy area where it will be safe for now but im wondering if it would be best to just put it down? I dont know if this is a really retarded thing to post since this is the first time ive came here but any advice on what would be best for it would be great.
>>2232479
As a board regular, I can tell you that the most humane thing you can do is to eat it
Put it in a freezer, it's how they advise to kill cane toads which are a problem in some of AUS. Or just stomp the cunt.
>>2232480
kek, I aint eatin that slimy bitch

You have more stuff since the last time.
The black and orange spider it's a phidippus johnsoni, the spider that went to space.
Jumping spiders tend to jump at things you put in front of them, to get higher ground.
>>2232470
the fuck is that thing
>>2232489
Awesome. I had no idea. Thats pretty cool
I'm about to get a 3 month old kitten, /an/
The problem is, I live in a tiny, studio apartment.
Ive been reading and talking to people, and all of them agree that a kitten needs some safe space to acclimate into a new environment. Typically this is done with an extra bedroom or something, but I don't have that.
My greatest fear right now is that my kitten, scared of his new place, will hide himself under my refrigerator, or destroy the cables powering my computer while I'm gone.
I'm thinking of buying one of these. It's closed off, and also large enough for me to fit the kittens food and water, litter box, scratching post, and still have space for his bed. I'll only be putting the kitty in this thing when I'm at school (no more than 4 hours at a time)
Is this a good idea? Should I forgo the playpen all together and just hope the kitten does well in my apartment alone?
>>2232422
Forgo the kitten. They aren't worth the effort. Your apartment will be covered in hair & smell like piss. Your friends will all abandon you & you'll likely never get laid again.
>>2232427
don't worry, they have no friends, are virgins, live in a piss-smelling apartment and are very hairy already
they'll be fine
The kitten will likely be able to climb out making it useless. Forgo the pin. Just leave the kitten be until it comes to you for the first couple days
So i have a problem: i'm out of cat food and my leg is broken so I can't go get any more. Someone is delivering food tomorrow; what should I feed my kitty today? I was thinking whey protein powder?
Call a friend and ask if they can pick up cat food for you and them buy them pizza + pay for cat food to say thanks
>>2232417
I did this but they can't do it till tomorrow, i need to feed my puss something from the house. Should i ask /b/ instead?
>>2232413
Feed it antifreeze. It is very nutritional for cats.
