How are crows so intelligent?

they're adorable

That particular crow already had previous experience with all the individual steps of the puzzle. Hence why it tried to use short stick to get the food first.
It's still a good sign of tool use and learning, but it's not like some random crow from the wild could just figure out this 3 step puzzle on their first run at it.

Just like us, man.
To learn anything, you are first introduced to the basics and then you can combine the basics to perform more complex tasks. Walking, talking, reading, counting, programming, etc. How many really basic things do engineers, scientists, mathematicians, physicists, and everyone else have to do dominate in order to perform any task? These animals are amazing.

Hey /an/
I recently picked up this guy on the side of the road. Idk what species this turtle is. Idk what it eats either.
Does anyone know what kind of turtle it and what kind of diet he has?
>>2230377

How do you people always find turtles, never seen one in the wild.
>>2230377

Hey /an/, let's have a pet toy recommendation thread. Post anything that could you'd consider suitable for animals ranging from dogs and cats to herps and birds.
To start off, I'm looking for some good toys to purchase for a smaller dog (<25lbs/11kg). Any good suggestions?

lovely tripquads
My doggo is a very heavy chewer and demolishes most toys he gets -- he's also a busybody and had separation anxiety
Two toys I can't recommend enough are:
www.amazon.com/dp/B000KV7ZGQ
and
www.amazon.com/dp/B00520EJXW
He doesn't get fed from a bowl any more; we put his kibbles in either of these and he has to spend an hour or so working to get his meal. They're extremely tough toys.
Shit like this is why I was planing on spending the rest of my life alone.
Women really do ruin everything.
I think something's wrong with my dog.

I don't know if you've noticed but that's a Rottweiler :) and all dogs are lovely unless they're mistreated, just like people, a kid who's been loved and treated well growing up will be kind to others however a kid who's been beaten, abused and hurt all his life will end up lashing out. Try not to be so ignorant, for your own sake
>man saves Skunk's life by taking soda can off it's head

It's at its peak and is slowly dying. No one is putting up with them anymore.

I own a male dog and correct people when they say "Good girl"
If they keep doing it anyway then I get annoyed.
Barely related, though.
Any black cat lovers here?
My sweet boy. Black cats are best cats
My black cat died recently. He was a good dude and I miss him. Everyone please give their black cat some salmon in his memory.

It was going so well until all pangolins got irradiated
How the fuck is primitive medicine still a thing in one of the richest counties in the world?

Well when their entire language sounds like a series of doorbells failing it's hard to imagine how they got anywhere at all.
>cold morning outside my work place
>see weak sparrow hobbling
>cannot fly
>lean in for a closer look to see if i can do something about it
>frightened, the bird falls into a storm / gutter drain
>AW SHIT
>retrieve bird from cold water seconds later
>is dead
I felt awful and still do. Me trying to help killed him in the end. I shouldn't have intervened.
Was fucked to begin with, OP.
>find bat on a train bridge
>try to stealthily sneak up on it despite fully aware of high rabies/disease risk
>jumps below into water and cannot find it
More often than you think, you can help IF you immediately get something the attention it needs. Intervening is not wrong. If you were to just take it home and 'keep it warm' then it would have died anyway, just in an a scary unfamiliar environment. Don't help unless you know you can. If you cant, and know it won't make it, the least you can do is kill it as painlessly as possible.
>>2228632
Still sucks
I feel you on that OP
>Last week of summer
>Walking down pier around midnight
>See seagull laying down, obviously hurt
>Some asshole fisherman left his baited lure laying on the rocks
>Stuck in bird's wing
>Try to sneak up on it to cut off the barb
>Bird gets spooked, tries to fly off, nosedives into the harbor
