I got my first date today, going to happen on Tuesday. She's cute and we're both extremely quiet/shy so we definitely match up personality wise. We've chatted quite a bit so we know a decent amount about ourselves personally.

The "problem" is that she's a STEM major and I'm an Art major, and I don't know how to bring up "so what are your hobbies" without it sounding contrived or something.

I mean maybe that just means we won't work out (I hope not!) but what do you guys think? Does it even matter?

You never know, she might be looking for an artsy person. Just gotta bring it up and see how she reacts.
>>
>>18525516
I'm an Arts fag that dated exclusively STEM faggettes.
The two go together like chocolate and peanut butter.

You just gotta know how to play. She wants that artistic emotional creative shit. Consider that she's constantly surrounded by men. 90% of STEM are men. She's that 10%.
She has LOTS of men to choose from.
But she chose you, at least for the time being.

Smile, laugh, be charming. She wants a fucking charming ass clever fucker.
Because she don't got many of those in STEM

If your conversation stalls, ask about her studies and say you don't know anything about it. But keep the attitude that you're better than her while you ask ti. She WANTS to explain everything. But not to a subordinate.
Take the position that she's doing it as a favour to you.

STEM bitches like confident artsy fucks. All you gotta do is smile and seem smug in just the right places

>You just gotta know how to play. She wants that artistic emotional creative shit. Consider that she's constantly surrounded by men. 90% of STEM are men. She's that 10%. She has LOTS of men to choose from.
yeah that's actually why I assumed I even was in contention lol

That's extremely helpful! I'll take this as a guideline, since I know she's shy and she may not be wanting a total extrovert (I don't even know her past dating experience).

thank you!

1. How old are you
2. where are you from
3. What's your reason for wanting to move here
4. what education and skills do you have?
>>
>>18525500
1 - If i move i will in a year or so with 20/21 years of age.
2 - Portugal
3 - Various reasons, including: creating a family there, share positive feelings to people through art (work there), and i just like the country and the people
4 - I have plenty of skills and knowledge (not trying to be cocky, i'm just being realistic), though i don't have documents that prove it.

Well, you could either get married to an American girl and get a green card that way. Or, you could apply for a student visa so you could study here. Before or after graduating you could apply for a career that would sponser your work visa/green card

19 male here, norwood 2.
Balding since 16.5 years old.
Taking dutasteride, hair thickened, but hairline keeps receding and I'm not sure it will stop.

Used to be able to look at the mirror and not hate the way I looked. Girls would talk to me at parties and invite me to hookup. People messaged me and I was popular in highschool without even trying.
Then the catastrophe started. Lost a bunch of hair really quickly, people noticed because apparently the human eye is extremely accurate and my happiness fell down extremely quick. All that was while in highschool.

Now in college studying an engineering, not even a girl has started a conversation with me yet. None. I am a confident, athletic guy who dresses well (I run a lot) and also get great marks. But somehow, no matter what I do, no women want to even get close to me. I am not tall. I don't have a beard. I am balding. All these things are out of my control and I can't do anything about them. Despite trying really hard to live a happy life, it seems like things don't work out.

I feel like the world was not made for me. We live in a superficial world, you can't deny that. Men get turned on by slim women with huge bobs and fat asses and women get turned on by tall, handsome men with full heads of hair. I get it. This just makes me wonder if I will be ever be able to date a girl I like and live a pleasing life. So far out of the 10 girls I've talked to, all of them have turned me down instantly.

I am lost and confused on what I should do in life.

How did balding affect you and how did you overcome it, if you did?

Bald heads don't suit everyone, mine included. In addition, I am not at a level where shaving my head would help. I still have lots of hair, the hairline is just receding and it's noticeable, and it looks really weird for a 19 years old. A bald head (specially my bald head, I recall)
on a 19 years old would look even weirder.
I appreciate your help though.
>>
Start working out. Become buff and remove all of your hair. This is the only correct answer. A lot of people will come here and tell you how women don't care about whether a guy is bald or not but those kind of women are in the minority.

Become Vin Diesel. This is the best advice you'll ever get. Trust me on this.

I have a crush on my dog walker. Should I ask her out to the movies? She's very shy and withdrawn. Her voice is very low and she barely talks, I don't believe English is her first language; I find it all cute and I like it. So should I just be like "heyyy, have you watched spider-man yet? Wanna go watch it this weekend with me?" All via text of course, I barely see her.

She absolutely loves my dog tho.

>all via text

do not recommend. i dont relaly recommend this in general cuz you know, shes your dog walker. if you havent had her drop any hints that shes into it, its generally a bad move

but if you're gonna do it i wouldnt do it via text.
>>
>>18525427
Movies? Do you not have a dog park. Or any park in general? She likes doggos. Be with doggos. Ask to join her one day and walk your own dogs with her.

Movies are fucking shit for first dates because you've got to be all quiet. They're for $4 matinees where you're going to finger a bitch in the back row in a nearly empty showing of Zoolander 2.
>>
>>18525429
Yea that's true. Texting is for fags. I had the chance to see if she wanted to do something over 4th of July weekend but my autism was strong that day. Next time I guess.

She's highly introverted imo, barely talks, and takes some time to respond, due to personality and language barrier I guess. So far all I've learned about her is that she likes to go to the beach lol.

How to not being a naive in dating and being realistic about it?
Whenever I go on dates with guys I feel like I was a teenager girl, blushing and all. I'm also a bit reserved if the guy came on to me too strong or dominant me.
What to do please?
Is this to do with the fact that I'm a virgin? I'm religious so.

How do I deal with my countless insecurities?

I have a bottom-heavy body as a man (long legs with poweful quads, short torso, making my shoulders appear narrowish even though I'm pretty sure they're normal and I always liked them until recently, I have a really narrow face and weird legs that look crooked in all pants even though they're technically straight.
I usually swing between feeling good looking (got lots of positive feedback, mostly on my face) and feeling unconfident and insecure about all those little things about me.

My legs do that and I've seen that on alot of other guys it's not that unusual just like do what I do workout your upper body hard and do some leg workouts I've evened out but I also lost 50 pounds so it may be different with you
>>
>>18525384
I'm similar OP, I've realized over time that people just don't care that much. Quite the opposite in fact, I get compliments on my legs fairly often. You probably look fine. If you're that insecure, start doing some upper body training.

Hey /adv/, what happens if you receive a parcel from Amazon then claim that it was lost in transit?

Is it illegal?
Can Amazon see if you've done it too many times?
Does it work every time (Apart from when signed for)?

Thanks
7 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>18525357
Course it is illegal, it is called fraud. Amazon tracks shit and no where it has been. Hell the shit I ordered online from WalMart had many UPC scans from the S&R (shipping and receiving) warehouses. Chain of evidence.
>>
>>18525357
>Is it illegal?

Yes you dumb nigger.

>Can Amazon see if you've done it too many times?

Of course they can your account history and all transactions are recorded since the moment you signed up. If you can pull it up so can they. Have you even used Amazon before, bro?

>Does it work every time (Apart from when signed for)?

Amazon A-Z works every time as long as it hasn't been abused. It falls back on UPS or whoever dropped the package off at your door, and might require you to report a lost package with the police if the value is high enough. Packages get "stolen" off people's steps all the time. They'll eat the cost a few times, but if you make a habit of it they'll catch on quick.

It's one of those frauds you do rarely, and when you do it you make sure it counts.
>>
>>18525357

>illegal

yes

>can amazon see

literally yes, there'd be a pattern if oyu are constantly saying 'i didn't receive my item'

>does it work every time

no, ive done it once because i accidentally threw away the box, but they will investigate this happening more than once and you can go to jail for fraud.

also anything of significantly high value will be investigated for sure. id wasger if it goes above 100 you'd get caught fast

can skidmarks on dark boxers be white? My boyfriend clearly came in his sleep and his boxers had a white stain on them that looked similar to when he's gotten excited in his boxers and left marks and he got angry and claimed they're skidmarks because it was near the back of them, and white, but it looks exactly like cum and he clearly was defensive.

This is a stupid lie right? Poo from earlier in a day, human poo at least, can't be white right?

Hi /adv/, there's a girl in my summer college class who is really, really pretty and very shy. I spoke to her once about something class-related, and I'd like to try to strike up a conversation that's a bit more meaningful at some point.

How do I start? Do I tell some sort of funny one-liner? Compliment her on something? I really have no idea what to say.
12 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>18525271
Depends entitely on her, who she is, her world view, how she takes compliments, what her interests are, what type of flirting works with her, and what would bring her out of her shell and get her talking, and what she already thinks of you.

I dont know about other anons on here, but Im not psychic. Thats the only way i can imagine I or anyone here can help you.

And honestly, dude... That should be painfully obvious as a fact of life. People are different.

Git outta here.
>>
>>18525326
>You have to be psychic to start a conversation with somebody

What the fuck, anon, that's no help at all. I just asked how I can start a convo with a person in general, like examples of ice-breakers and whatnot. I don't know what you think I'm trying to say.
>>
>>18525334
Its not helpful because no one can help you.

She might like to be left alone, she might like to approach you.

She might be shut down as fuck and any attempt to contavt her will make her a retard and fear you. Maybe she can only meet people online.

Maybe she already doesnt like you.

Maybe if you just walk over and say "hello" youre good!

Maybe a terribly awkward small talk conversation will break the ice, because shes shy and Shell identify with you because shes shy too and shell feel connected to you.

Maybe an awkward small talk conversation will make you a freak.

I know exactly what you said, i dont think you know what im saying.

Whats helpful here isnt how to approach her.

Its the fact you have to go try something. Anything. Say hello. Sit next to her and talk about class stuff. Straight up ask her out.

Try something, anything. No matter what I or any anon tells you, she might love it or hate it. You might be soulmates, you might already have zero chance.

Thats the world you live in.

Sometimes not knowing wtf to do is exactly what works because some girls like shyness.

So if you come here with literally no information at all.. We.. Cant.. Help.. You..

So try something, anything. You have as much a chance being a smooth romeo as you do being a total spaz. If it fails, she doesnt like you. Move on.

I've been really struggling with depression this last year. It has hit really hard 4 times, and it's crippling. I know it's a meme to say you're depressed, but I am really suffering.

I am 26 and live with my parents. I make tons of money during the summer and around that job I am working on my start up company doing what I love. My parents completely support me, are happy to have me, believe in me, and are very supportive of getting me through depression. I'm really fortunate.

Maybe it's because I've browsed /pol/ too much but I'm full on conservative. I feel like a manchild at 26 because I don't have a wife and 7 kids and a house and money and whatever. I had a really great relationship last year but it didn't turn out and it made me realize I do want to get married and have a family someday. But shouldn't I be waiting until my 30's to feel that extreme pressure on myself? I don't know if this is related to my depression, but I feel like I want to go back to my teens when I was happy just playing vidya in my free time, havin a waifu, not caring about girls, and working on what would eventually become my start up.

I eat very healthily, I go to the gym 5 days a week, the only negative aspect I can say of my habits are that I'm not social. I live in a small town with few people who are into the same things as me.

I dunno, just wondering if you guys have advice. I'd really appreciate it. I need and want to get through this. Thanks.

Humans are social animals. I don't believe this shit when people say they don't need friends, maybe it's true for a very small percent of the population.

Go out and meet people. I guarentee you if you keep this up and make a few good friends your depression will disappear.

I'm not talking out of my ass, I've been in your situation before. You can make more money or get more fit but you won't get any happier. You need people in your life.

enjoy your life. realize what is healthy and not healthy.

take it at your own pace.there is no golden way of life, because we are all hard wired different, but there is a way of life that will work well objectively for you.

I'm in my late 20''s and still watch anime/play video games. I allso have a career, live on my own, am completely independent and date random women (that don't like anime or video games) whenever I feel like. there is no golden rule, just find what is comfortable and keep discovering yourself and what you're willing to live with/like.

Contrary to popular belief, you have choices your entire life, including now. Just because your a few years older doesn't mean you need to "act a few years older". Don't do stuff differently because you think other people expect you to. Honestly, they don't, and if they do and have a problem with it, that's there problem, don't make it yours.

How is it possible for any responsible, able-bodied human being with a good work ethic in a country like Canada to be poor?

So you failed high school? Work shitty jobs like garbage man and cashier for a while until you can save up for trade school (costs like 33k or something) and become a tradesman. Make smart investments in assets like stocks for extra cash.

Dropped out of high school? Either go back or pass a high school equivalency test (its called a GED here). Then work up to tradesman.

We have a shortage of tradesmen here so you won't be troubled with competition. The pay is decent enough for you to make a living.

If you waste your earnings on drugs, alcohol and gambling then your poverty is your fault. If you have to provide for a kid from a teenage pregnancy then you're pretty much fucked, but the majority of poor people are not single mothers. We also have homeless shelters so you can get your life back on track.

I've been talking with immigrants who came here with absolutely nothing and who couldn't use their degrees from their old country so they either got a new one or didn't bother with uni at all and have managed to raise their families and become upper-middle class.

Unless you have some exceptional case then how can you be poor?
17 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
First of all, you assume there is a good work ethic. That's simply not true in a LOT of cases; for a lot of people, it's easier to sit and rake in benefit money than to go out and work.

Secondly, you haven't considered people who are disabled and can't work. Those are a sizeable portion of 'poor people'.

And there's also financial illiteracy. People are shit with money, and things like credit cards and personal loans work to keep poor people poor.

And lastly, there's a sense of entitlement and "I want it now" that people have these days. Working towards something is less of a lifestyle and more of an optional extra.
>>
>>18525027

>How is it possible for any responsible, able-bodied human being with a good work ethic in a country like Canada to be poor?

Because life is not as simple as you're trying to paint it to be. Some people are disabled. Some people have elderly parents or small children to take care of. Some people have made mistakes in the past and have criminal records. Some people are sick and have medical issues. Some people have untreated addiction issues. Some people live in areas where the job market is not plentiful and cannot afford to move. My point is life is complex and full of pitfalls and setbacks and casually suggesting people in poverty just save of 33k and work through way through school without taking into account any factors that may hinder them from doing so is just an over-simplistic view of life. Its juvenile.

To suggest that everybody who is in poverty is there because its their own fault is a vastly oversimplified, narrow minded view of the world and how the economy and class systems work.

For the record, drug and alcohol abuse is sometimes a genetically inherited predisposition and medically classified as a disease. If you're never experienced problems with addiction yourself its very childish and uninformed of you to brush it off and assume that "willpower" is all that is needed for people to overcome the often insurmountable burden that comes from either struggling with addiction or trying to support someone who does.

I'm not saying work ethic and personal responsibility aren't factors in overcoming poverty I'm saying that if you actually take a thoughtful, informed look at poverty you would see that sometimes willpower and work ethic aren't enough. Many aspects of the capitalist framework were built specifically to make it harder for the lower class to rise. Do some research.
>>
>>18525054
This doesn't contradict my point and I mentioned acknowledged the disabled in the first sentence ("able-bodied").

If you're financially illiterate and have the "I want it now" attitude then in poverty is where you will end up and if you aren't poor then you will be worse off than you could be.

The fact that you can just leech off welfare proves that it's even easier to save money than working minimum wage and that it's not "the system's" fault that you're poor, it's your own.
