It seems there is a new PC-98 emulator.
http://www.satotomi.com/sl9821/sl9821_dl.html
But, the catch is that it needs ROM/BIOS files dumped from a real PC-98 to work. There is a download for a program you run on a real PC-98 and it dumps them for you. Has anyone heard about this emulator or have these files?
The files shouldn't be different than those for other emulators.

No, they are different, here's a list

>SL9821 emulates "THE FIRST PC-9821".
>It requires bios files from "THE FIRST PC-9821" only.
>Many people tried Xa, Xe10, Ce2, V20, etc...but they did not work.
>This emulator uses rhythm file(RHYTHM.DAT) created by RECRTM.EXE.
(not wave files)
>MKROMIMG.EXE creates:
>BIOS.ROM 96KByte
>ITF.ROM 32KByte
>BANK.ROM 128KByte
>SNDBIOS.ROM 16KByte
>IDEBIOS.ROM 8KByte
>SCSIBIOS.ROM 8KByte
>FONT.DAT 282KByte
>and shows vender ID and product ID of SCSI-CDROM drive.
>You will need all *.ROM, *.DAT, and vender/product ID of SCSI-CDROM drive of "THE FIRST PC-9821".
>"THE FIRST PC-9821" may be 98MULTi(not CanBe, but PC-9821 S1 or S2).
Why would he do that?
>just coded an emulator for my favourite retro computer, better make it depend on files nobody has so nobody can use it and my beloved pc98 fades back into obscurity
Lmao
What would you guys think of a draw thread for /vr/? Not like the ones on /v/, /a/, and /co/ where people request stuff most of the time but more like /jp/'s oc thread where people just post retro related content they made? Might as well call it an oc thread I suppose. Well, what would you guys think of that?
Tried before. Died out faster than the Jaguar.

Dag, yo.

Fuck off. and take your shitty "retro" e-celebs treads with you fucking faggot.
GameFaqs Highest Rated Games:
01 SNES Chrono Trigger
02 VITA Persona 4 Golden
03 WII Metroid Prime Trilogy
04 PS3 Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection
05 PC The Orange Box
06 PS2 Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
07 SCD Lunar: Eternal Blue
08 SNES Final Fantasy III
09 N64 The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
10 PS2 Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection
That's weird, man.
Could you remove the non-retro titles?
>>3517429
I simply dumped the top overall ratings. Ocarina of Time kept winning tournies, followed by things like FFVII and Symphony of the Night. I wonder how Eternal Blue got better ratings than Silver Star...
I was close to 1cc. Thanks, Sega.Could've made it as Blaze by abusing their AI but fuck this shit game.
Walk in diagonals to try and grab them. Also works when they get back from a jump.
Once grabbed, couple of knee kicks then let go of them and grab them again.
This works against every boss btw, but yeah the Blaze clones are the hardest to use this.
>>3517037
You're talking about those really mean chicks that come in a pair right? I do something a little different.
They usually have this little pattern they do and Istay away from them for majority of it. Then I jumpkick them in the head repeatedly at just the right moment (usually as soon as they hit the ground)
>>3517047
>>3517037
I just show them my back and use a backward kick when they try to walk/jump on me, Blaze has a great reach so it works like a charm, doesn't work well with Axel since his elbow has a really low reach. I cooled off a little and will still do 1cc, but with Blaze(apparently she has 4 very evil twins), becouse I can use this cheap method against this cheap boss. Not gonna use your advices becouse this game isn't that good to waste more time on it desu senpai.
if you play FDS games that used the expansion audio on a famicom using an Everdrive N8, will you get the expansion audio? Or do you need a disk system hooked up as well?
>>3516976
Pretty sure you have to mod your NES for the expansion sound. Dont quote me on that but hey theres always google.
>>3517168
>>3517258
I'm aware of that, and that an NES needs a modification to output expansion audio. That's why I'm asking about the Famicom.
If a Famicom is playing an FDS expansion audio game using a flash cart, will it have the expansion sound, or does it need an FDS attached?
In other words, is the 'expansion sound' of the FDS games built into the Famicom, or is it extra sound hardware built into the FDS itself?
The last movie you watched received a retro video game adaption by your favorite dev

I'm totally ok with this.
did this have a bunch of items to collect? Was it platformer or RPGish? I can't remember.
You ran around a city throwing bubbles to catch pirate cats.
The pirate leader was a hot catgirl I think, I only played the demo.
>>3516897
You know, I've never played this, but I will say I'm all honesty I picked up Solatorobo for DS and I think it's one of the best titles on the system. Sure, it's easy as fuck, but the atmosphere, music, and art design are fantastic.
Not /vr/, but whatever.
I see this compared to megaman legends sometimes.
Kinda' wanna check it out because of the hot catgirl too. I've been putting it off because of the furry aspect but man I don't care anymore I just want something fun.
Mcfatties had the right idea.

This reminds me, I should check the Mcd's where I used to live. I think they still had these the last time I was there. Seem to remember some GC ones too.

I know a McDonald's near me (Plano, TX) had some kiosks, maybe they still do. I think they were GameCube, though.

Best retro adventure games?

I have a feeling you already know the answer to that. Just in case, lets start with THIS ONE.

Oh man, I remember I loved these games. This one was the Legend of Kyrandia series. Also Monkey Island games! So much great stuff. I say you really can't lose with Lucasarts and Sierra.
Are kart racers the only 4 way splitscreen games on Playstation?
>>3516353
Devil Dice, Bomberman (which iirc supported a ridiculous number of players - more than 4 or maybe that was on a different platform?), Crash Bash. All I can remember.
>>3516353
Quake 2 had a 4 player splitscreen mode. It was awesome. I remember playing it a lot with friends.
>>3516445
No man, split screen.
what are some retro games with gender switching
>crossdressing
ABSOLUTELY HARAM
FF7, Ranma
You guys should've told me about this sooner. I love Shinobi 3 but this feels so much better in every way. Different level design, more difficult but rewarding bosses. Overall, it just feels like the better game.
Revenge is GOAT.
Also Sega didn't develop III, which is why it's inferior.
http://www.mobygames.com/company/megasoft_
There are many great games in the Shinobi series, and they're all different from one another
All the arcade, MD/Genesis, and GG games are good
I like III but it's basically unanimously agreed Revenge is the better game.
What are you playing/replaying at the moment my dudes?
How'd you rate it?

Post some stories of your experiences playing old school horror games when they came out.
>I remember when Phantasmagoria came out and my older brother was playing it in his room late at night. I was watching him play when my mom opened the door really quickly and asked us something and we started screaming lol.

Help me out, /vr/. How do I get into original Mega Man series? (Mega Man 1-10) There are shitton of ports, re-releases and remakes.
Step 1) Pick a game
Step 2) Play the fucking game
Getting so sick of these threads. It's not like you're learning something that takes actual skill, knowledge, or talent.
The PSP remake of the first game (Powered Up) is a great starting point. From there just play in release order. The first through fourth GB games can arguably be skipped but the fifth is a must play and is often considered one of the best games in the series.
2 -> 3 -> 6 -> 1 -> 4 -> 4minusinfinity -> 5 -> 9 ->10 -> 8 -> 7 (only if you hate yourself)
I never particularly liked the OG Megaman series, X was so much better.
