Any gameboy or gameboy advance games like Zelda and or that weird Laura game?
Depending on your definition of "like Zelda", you might try Final Fantasy Adventure (aka Seiken Densetsu), Bomberman Quest, or Kaeru no Tame Kane ha Naru (the engine of which was used for Link's Awakening).

>that weird Laura game?
Tell me more
I've always wanted to try survival kids
CYBERPUNK GAMES
What are your favourite cyberpunk games?
Westwood's Blade Runner is pretty great.
Hell
>>3514937
Is it a cyberpunk thriller?
I pick Ristar.

Dynamite Headdy
That one with the kid in the shades and letter jacket.
There seems to be a short sample of music in this video (0:21) that sounds like it comes from Megaman X, but I wasn't able to confirm this in my own investigation.

I know for a fact I've heard this song somewhere despite not knowing about this game until now and it's driving me insane.
>never liked Mario
>just bought a NES which came bundled with four Mario games
>even playing them on the real system isn't that fun or engaging to me
Is something wrong with me? I'm buying more games, but this particular bundled system was the best value.
Nope, you've simply discovered that Mario is overrated, has aged poorly and is mostly fueled by nostalgia.
>>3514564
Mario 3 is one of the NES' top game, if you don't enjoy it then you either just don't enjoy platformers, are a hipster, or will enjoy like 8 games on the system tops.
>Beating the game allowed you to unlock cheats to make beating the game again easier.
Why did games do this?
I think it's neat to be able to mess around with a game to make it easier to beat.
I thought that anyway. Then I beat a certain rpg with modified troop stats and didn't find myself having any fun at all.
Theres gotta be a limit to what you can do. Because those rules are what makes the game fun.
>>3514358
For FUN. You remember what that is?
Going back through RE with the unlimited Rocket Launcher is very cathartic.
I like it when there are extra modes that enhance the difficulty, forcing you to use more of the techniques and tactics you learned, or that require the equipment or abilities you carry over to finish.
What are the best third-party genesis exclusives?
Ranger-X
Third party dev or publisher?
If dev, Alien Soldier. If publisher, Hard Corps.
>>3514735
are you implying hard corps is first party?
the fuck?
You're in the club and this guy slaps Truxton in your Sega Genesis.
What do you do?
Show him how to 1cc a shmup like a real man.
Slap Eliminate Down in his Sega Genesis.

20 years later and I just now found out that Coupe was a girl.

a girl you say?
I remember the soundtrack for this game being fuckjng rad.
I also remember the motorcycle that was a bitch to unlock- and that stupid fucking semi truck mini game.
>>3514609
It was also one of the best uses of the FX chip for the SNES that wasn't assisted by Mode7.
So the rules in the sticky on this board say Dreamcast discussion is allowed. But I heard on another thread that any threads made about the DC get shitposted in and deleted. What's up with that /vr/? Why are you guys so against a legit retro console?
>>3514061
Where were you around 9-9-16?
>>3514061
I don't know where you're getting your information from, but DC threads are usually very civil and laid back. This is now a DC thread, so post your favorite game.
>>3514061
The post you read said to start a Gamecube thread. Not a DC thread.
Post some Crazy Taxi webms
I bought a couple of these to make my Super Famicom controller feel like new again. When I press the rubber in, it will stay in kinda like bubble wrap. When in game the d-pad will stick, probably because of the constant conductive pad contact to the board. Any ideas on how I can fix my issue without buying more, /vr/?
>>3513993
Your best bet is most likely just to get a new controller.
I've been making decent money actually turning standard SNES (and NES, PS1, Xbox, etc) controllers that are "broken" or in shit cosmetic shape into fight sticks using Sanwa parts.
The boards are almost always good, theres just some fucked up shit with teh contracts or cosmetic damage.
>>3514005
I just bought the Famicom controller with bad rubber contacts, and bought the replacements to fix it.
>>3514024
i also have a Super Famicom and just replaced the rubber pads some months ago, it worked perfectly after wards, have you checked that the Dpad rubber pad isnt bacwards? clean the actual Dpad with alcohol and also the inside of the controller.
Why was hell such a prevalent theme in the mid 90s?
Cause it was the height of Christian moral panic.
Hell used to be scary, now being an atheist is trendy
Video games need bad guys.
Hell is full of the baddest guys of all.
How the FUCK do you beat this guy?
I beat King Hippo only with help from reading tips online, but I can't even get a single punch on this asshole. Then he does his teleportation trick and it's over for me. The jewel on his turban lights up before he punches so I can dodge some, but I can't land a single hit.
>>3513725
You have to block in time with his teleport attack. They give you audible and visual cues.
Other than that, just git gud.
>>3513725
Regular, same-side punches every time he's about to uppercut you.
>>3513725
You have to find the hidden Toilet Disguise. It's a hidden item (yes, there are hidden items that mostly give bonuses -- they're very well hidden, though, and a lot of people don't even know that they exist). Once you find it, Little Mac's head and torso are covered up with a toilet.
If you fight Great Tiger while wearing the Toilet Suit, he becomes frantically terrified at the sight of the toilet and thinks Little Mac is a toilet witch. He becomes unable to fight, screaming and shaking in place, for 3 full seconds before beginning a pattern of frantic, terrified lunges, telegraphed by him stopping, closing his eyes, backing up for a charge, and then screaming. He doesn't use his teleport move, as he is too frightened.
So, a few days ago, we discussed some possibilities of allowing 6th gen into the board.
However, many people didn't want it, and those who accepted it to any degree would only accept the GBA. So we came up with a compromise idea: /v2k/, a board to discuss games made during the 6th generation that are too new for /vr/, but too old for /v/ teens to be interested in. I think this is a pretty good idea.
What year range should /v2k/ cover if it's created?
http://www.strawpoll.me/11249233/
The people that 'don't want it' are idiots is my response.
/vr/ is already slow as fuck and barely able to warrant its existence.
Just add in the sixth gen already. There's a ton of hidden gems and games worth discussing. The PS2 alone is probably older than most of the posters on /v/.
>>3513556
>The PS2 alone is probably older than most of the posters on /v/
I'd wager it's also older than the brats who want to discuss it on /vr/.
>>3513556d dreamcast is already allowed and it had online pvp games, nothing happened.
No need to split an already slow board, this is as good of an idea as releasing the cd and 32x for the same console then releasing games that required both.
So whats the best Ultima game for a new player to start with?
I started with 7 and loved it.
Tons of freedom.
Can pick up basically anything in the game.
>>3513527
Then Ultima 8. It has insane, unbalanced freedom
4, 5, 6, or 7 are safe ones to start with.
1, 2, and 3 are decent to get if you want a bigger challenge.
8 and Underworld are for sadists.
9 is if you have no standards for anything and want a reason to kill yourself.
