>What's the point of scores? I don't care about my score.
It is pretty pointless in a lot of games
>>3544709
What about time
>>3544709
Wouldn't trying to beat it make replaying even more fun?
Just got a MAME setup with a complete romset. I've played all the obvious ones and I wanna check out some new ones, name your favorites.
puzzle bobble, gradius 3, every capcom fighter, ghouls and ghosts to name a few

Gun Frontier is a new favorite of mine
I recall years ago when some games worked better on 1.6 than 1.7 and viceversa, now we have version 2.3,this version is truly the best or im better installing older versions?
PD: sorry for my english.
Depends on the game, I think 1964 is better than PJ64 nowadays though.
use the latest one. i think audio is worse in current versions because the devs dont care about it much and dont test it but the rest is improved. alternatively mupen is on the same level of quality so try that too.
>>3543882
I have been playing Super Mario 64 and TLoZ: Ocarina of time on the 2.3 version with a program called 3D Analyzer and works perfectly.
Psx games with a fucking good OST ?
>>3543821
What game is this?

is the SNES version of SimCity the best version?
>>3542754
Play the Amiga version or something, Timmy.
>>3542754
There were other versions?
>>3542767
Typical nintenyearold.
How come a lot of Japanese retro games are fully in English?
memory limitations
The real question is, why is Ristar so angry on the western version?
>>3542646
he got the kirby treatment
Post the worst ports of classic games you know of.
Here's two examples
Ghosts n Goblins on NES

And
Castlevania on Amiga

>Ghosts n Goblins on NES
explain yourself
Anything on Amiga or ZX, take your pick of whatever faggy Euro shit computer you like.
>>3542372
What do you mean?
How good are you at Tetris?
>>3542253
I got Statue of Liberty to launch after losing at lvl. 18 in Tetris DX. I think I had 192 lines cleared and 140,000 points.
131 lines in GB tetris
867 lines in Tengen NES version
I can rarely beat a single level
ITT: Old Lego games
pic related is my favorite and also one of my first games
I really like Lego Stunt Rally
It sucks there never was a true LEGO Jump'n'Run game, all we got these days are pay-to-play MMORPGs and mediocre LSW games for several licenses.
>>3542258
Only had the GBC version which I liked a lot because of the track builder.
But the console versions seem to be inferior to Lego Racers, even though both are kind of different games (one being a party racer, the other more about... stunts??).
LR had more variety, though, and was lots of fun. Could you even build your own car or racer in LSR?
Alpha-Team was an interesting game, but it really did not interest me as a child because it was just a fucking puzzle game.
I also had the Legoland Park Builder, I wonder if it still holds up nowadays.
I know that the LEGO Creator series is basically awful, especially nowadays as you can't really do much with it, so you might as well play Minecraft.
What was up with that Train game, how did one even play it?
I don't think lego island 2 is retro. It's also bad.
The first lego island on the other hand...

Which method do you usually use when you're in the mood for some Gameboy?
Don't really care for GB, but I play GBA games on Wii (VBA GX).
Original model for nostalgia.
>>3541874
>sitting inside
>play super gameboy
>get up to go outside and smoke
>put cart in SP and bring with me
>return indoors and continue on super gameboy
I am about to start playing through the pic related series, before I start I wanted to ask what the best version of Ghosts and Goblins is?
>>3541732
The arcade game, by far
>>3541736
Any idea how hard the arcade version would be to emulate?
Here's my example.
In oracle of Ages, the block puzzles where you step on squares to change the colors can still be completed if you fuck up and have a square left. You can place the Cane of Samoria block on the last square and for whatever reason it will still count. Never seen this on any guide nor heard anyone speak of it, but it's definitely a thing.
>>3541715
That's pretty cool. Makes sense if you think about it too. The tiles are activated by weight, and the blocks created by the Cane of Somoria are definitely heavy.
Oh come on guys, I want to be amazed. Here is another example. On Boomer Kuwanger's stage in Mega Man X1, you can actually wall climb on these spikes with no repercussions even though every other set of spikes in the room kills you. Weird stuff.
>>3541715
If I remember well, there's one puzzle in particular where you must use the Cane of Somaria in order to pass it. I believe it's in that extra dungeon you get access after you beat both games.
What's your favorite CRPG, /vr/? I'm tempted to say mine is Fallout 1, but I'd have to think on that for a while.
More like Fallout No-Fun am I right fellas?
>>3541695
FO2 has a worse story and setting but it's better as an RPG because it has more roleplaying options.
Fallout is a top tier game. I knew I had to play from the second I saw preview screenshots. Even as a dumb kid I could tell that was going to be next level shit. And it was.
But Baldur's Gate is my favorite, because of the variety and replayability. There are just so many ways to play the game; there's really nothing like it. I still play it and have yet to get bored after hundreds of hours.
Just picked this up for 65$. Did I do good? What games should I get?
EarthBound, E.V.O, Hagane are all good games
Not bad. Not a "steal" by any means but not bad.
>>3541350
Ignore this faggot. He's just posting high cost carts. They are good games but aim for some of the better ones like Mega Man X, Yoshi's Island,Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, Super Metroid, and Gradius III. There are plenty of others, but those are all fantastic games that won't set you back by much.
