Why is it that 16-bit games age badly in comparison to 8-bit games?
as a general rule, they don't. your example is what we call an exception.
Correction: Why is that some people are such faggots in comparison to non-faggot people?
Answer: Because they are faggots.

They don't, 64 bit games do
>D is released on Steam
>no one is talking about it or even realizing it
Should I get it? i never played
completely FMV with a goofy story about what D actually stands for. Maybe about an hour long if you know what you're doing. I had it for Saturn, had to look up a guide halfway through for a few parts.
>>3588872
>no one is talking about it
>release date: 1995
If you were wondering
>>3588878
Saturn for this as well it was good for a single playthrough i loved it
What will you play during Halloween?
Animal Crossing. I haven't experienced Halloween in AC in nearly ten years.
>>3587969
Monster Party, followed by Splatterhouse Wanpaku Graffiti and Jaki Crush. It's been my ritual for the last few years.
>>3587969
I don't play games by seasons, so probably still trying to finish Dragon Warrior
Breath of Fire IV had a pretty nice visual style, don't you think?
I understand not having different sprites for every weapon, but they could at least implement different animations for each one.
And different half-dragon forms, that was a must. What happened? Did they run out of time?
>>3581620
Aside from maybe PoPoLoCrois I think it's the best looking RPG on the system period. But it wins out for not being a boring piece of shit.
>>3581862
Zelda: Breath of the Wild's art style so reminded me of it; BoF IV and a Ghibli vibe.
Just scored these bad boys for 450$ on craigs list. Post your recent pickups/scores

You didn't score, OP. The seller did.

Can anyone identify the game that's on the screen in this old picture I found of myself?
I really have no clue.
The picture was taken in around 1996 I believe.
Megaman V
>>3593776
looks like super game boy, probably one of the GB Mega Mans given the megaman border.
MegaMan 5 on Game Boy. It's clearly being played via a Super Game Boy on a SNES.
Do you still have the game? It goes for quite a lot.
Anyone else tend to find that PAL has much classier designs to their box art?
pic related,
>>3593318
People actually care about box art?
Having the Playstation label on the bottom is an absolute eye sore.
>>3593318
PAL box art is notoriously shitty
Thinking of selling my old sega Saturn games collection. I have 52 games, PAL region and most are excellent condition. Some are your average type of games while I have some rare games.
Would $1300 Australian forcalk of them be a fair price to sell them?
I hardly play my Saturn and have a lot of shit in my house I want to get rid of.
>>3592576
I say save them at least 10 more years, the prices are will only go up and you can turn serious money.
>>3592585
I am worried that emulation will improve in 10 years time and retro games will be worthless
>>3592585
Disc rot.
Can someone test this game for me?
I'm playing the NTSC J version on my 60hz modified PAL console (with pro UFO) and I'm noticing slight slowdown/jitter on some parts of the first level.
It's most noticeable falling from a top part of the level down to the ground quickly. I never noticed it before and want to know if it's normal SNES
Why are you playing the inferior Aladdin version?

Nintendo is so shit.
Is Greendog a nice game? What are some other exciting games about surfer dudes?
>>3592242
this is a really good game, legit
Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama has a dude who hangs on the beach but I'm not really sure if he surfs.
>>3592242
Its alright actually, worth trying at least. More than one boss would have been nice.
It's pretty shitty. Game is super bland and generic.
The gameplay is boring and the setting is boring too.
I wouldn't recommend it.
Sten sucks. I hate him. He's weak, he has no skills, and his special ability is pointless. Luckily I knew going in that there would be a part where I was forced to use him so I kept him leveled up. But what would have happened if I didn't? What if I got to Highfort with him being level 9 and not being able to kill a single monster when I only have him in my party? Would it have just been instant game over, start over from the beginning? It's really stupid they let you save inside the fort since once you're in you can't even leave, and as far as I could see, can't even exit the dungeon to heal at the inn or buy supplies because that idiot other monkey blew the bridge up.
Katt is a slut.
Once you unlock the fusion system you can combine him into someone more useful.
>BoF II thread
I'm already sad.
What are some good joystick games?
>>3590902
Anything before the advent of the analog stick, really. So any system up to and including the Saturn, Play Station, but not the N64.
T. custom arcade stick builder
>>3590902
Doom
What does /vr/ think of MUDs?
>>3590562
Threads asking that question pop up every now and then and I never see them get more than a couple replies. I don't think MUDs were ever very popular, if they were nobody cares to talk about them.
What was the name of that one that's kind of an real-time action tournament?
Noting like a regular MUD. A match would start and all players would run through the rooms opening passages and grabbing weapons and such and try to finish each other off. If the match goes on too long, Death gets impatient and releases "dogs of war" and then "large dogs of war." When someone wins everything resets for the next match.
>>3590575
Well, I have a lot of knowledge about MUDs but after reading your stupid post I don't want to talk about them here.
Should I play Final Fantasy Adventure or Sword of Mana?
Or are they different enough to warrant separate playthroughs?
Play FFA. Sword of Mana trashed the game up with modern gimmicks.
Play the Vita/iOS/Android remake.
>>3589674
>Sword of Mana
Not retro.
Are there any jRPGs before the PS2 SMT era that have strategies beyond hitting enemies with strong attacks and healing when you are low on health?
I want to try out some classics, but most of them seem to only offer gimmicks, like combo systems for even stronger attacks, rather than actual strategizing. I get the feeling that the ATB system was in a way an admission that most jRPGs have super simplistic combat, by forcing the player to make quick decisions to make up for the lack of real options.
>>3589021
Gameplay is way too dated and abstract in these games. Avoid most of them.
Try Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre and Front Mission 3.
>>3589023
>abstract
What do you mean
>tactics games
That is not what I'm looking for. It's not even really the same genre. (And I already played FFT and I started Tactics Ogre)
>job/character/stance designed to inflict status in a game
>status attacks are useless
Great job.
Also,
>abilities with special secondary effects, like stealing
>has less than 5% proc chance
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest gets a bad rep, but at least it dropped the pretense that you had to do anything more than clobber enemies with your strongest attack to win.
