CRTs have horrible contrast among other faults.

Regarding your pic at least, CRTs are absolutely better for Parappa. Fucking thing's unplayable on anything else, even the recent PS4 release has messed up timing compared to the playing the original disc on a CRT. All retro-era rhythm games are the same in this regard.

for certain things like retro 2d pixel games they are essential.

certain effects like sonic the hedgehog's waterfalls made use of CRTs to produce dithering and more colors than would normally be possible. on a flat LCD, this effect is lost.

Any cheap android tablet will be a better emulation device than either of these, paired with a Chinese fake brand joypad of your choice. Unless you actually plan to play with this on public transport, in which case you are a dork beyond help.

Get a cheapo bluetooth controller. I got one for 15 bucks on amazon and it works great. I was playing mario 64 for a while with it. Honestly though, you're better off with a hacked PSP, emulating on my phone kills the battery incredibly fast

Could be a good time to get into Roguelikes. They're turn based so awkward controls don't matter, but they're still good and challenging with lots of fun decisions to make.

Shiren is a good place to start. Great game but accessible to newcomers of the genre.

Enjoy OP, this is my favorite SW game (well, this or TIE Fighter). The level design is seriously great.

Considering it's release date and price it packed quite a punch and was kept alive by its huge success.
