Shining Force 3/Sega saturn thread
>talk about the sega saturn games you absolutely love or despise
I really like this game
What does /vr/ feel about it?
This and 2 are my two of my favorite games of all time.
>>4044068
stop shilling this shitty game
Cotton Boomerang and Astra Superstars are my favorite Saturn games.
Also, I liked Holy Ark more than SFIII, sorry OP.
How often do you go back to a game after completion to try and beat your own highest score?
That's me with Metal Slug 3. I thought "Yeah, now I don't have to touch this game ever again" but it's too good and topping my high score is my next priority.
>>4043879
I do it often with Tetris Attack, trying to get to 99999 points on endless as fast as possible.
>>4043889
too bad metal slug games have shit scoring
I just bought this and a japanese pc engine. Do you know any good hacks/translations/modified games out there
romhacking.net
I just looked in /vr/ hacks thread but there is no pc engine/turbografx section
translations: shada, valkyrie, sunheart, gaia no monshou, porn dungeon crawler.... some others i cant remember
Let us talk about this awesome game.
>that bossfight with the werewolf
The fight itself isn't that special, but the boss grabbing chunks of the environment to throw at you was pretty damn cool.
>>4043332
yes.
>>4043326
If you're playing on an emulator (you probably are)
you should configure your MIDI player to sound like the Roland SC-55. It really is worth it.

it sounds similar to this but even better.
Are there any good rom hacks for Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins?
This is a great game, but I only wish it were a little more challenging.
>>4043230
Someone's making a full color hack for this game that looks pretty good. No where near complete, though.
If you want to up the difficulty yourself, you can try finding the hex value that corresponds to Mario's current power state and have it set to always be small Mario. Along with possibly reducing the number of lives you can have, you can quickly (and cheaply) make the base game more challenging.
There's that Vivian hack, it's alright but that's about it.
Hacking scene is stagnant because there aren't good tools or a decent overworld editor at all. A full disassembly exists though.
Also, get raped you filthy tripfag :D
just avoid powerups, retard
Anyone play this game? It was pretty unique, but fuck did the voice acting hurt.
I got stuck at pic related, underleveled for lava cave.
>This board is for the discussion of classic, or "retro" games. Retro gaming means consoles, computer games, arcade games (including pinball) and any other forms of video games on platforms launched in 1999 and earlier. With the release of the 8th generation of consoles, the Sega Dreamcast will now be considered "retro", though the remainder of the sixth generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube) will not.

Fuck... thought gamecube got pushed

ITT: we get mad just thinking about Push-Over.
>>4041270
It's a shitty puzzle game, what more can be said?
>people absolutely hate a generic puzzle game
Are we gonna rage about Dr. Mario next?
>>4041339
1. The low speed of the game, and the way you see you carefully elaborated plans fail, are infuriating.
2. There were no websites to give you the solution back then. You could spend days and days on the same level.
I have an NES controller that has a torn silicone pad. The tear is near the up button. It causes the control pad to stick and not respond correctly when up is pressed. I bought a set of replacement pads off eBay, which works, but it feels loose and doesn't "click" like the original did. It feels like playing a Chinese knockoff controller.
Is there a way I can repair the original silicone pad rather than replacing it? If not, where can I get silicone pads that feel like the original?
There's probably no way to repair it that would last.
repairing the old will probably not be a good idea. But if you have an old ps1 or ps2 controller you can use a scissor to make those pads fit in the nes controller.
>>4040954
There are ways of repairing torn silicone but they'd cost more than many NES controllers. Not cost effective if you're only repairing one controller. You could also make your own parts but again not cost effective for one controller.
What is the best retro X-COM?
The original, Terror from the deep or Apocalypse?
My fave is Apocalpse, loved the retro art-deco style, the city and its various organizations, the tactical maps and base building rocked my socks off, and the alien world was all kinds of weird and hard for me.

Original.

Found some Japanese super famicom games the other day. Did some quick searching, bit didn't find anything conclusive of the worth. Anyone know anything about them? I'm not sure if they work, they were mainly really dirty.
Thanks.
2nd pic
super nobunaga ambition, kirby dream course, secret of mana and Mahjong Sengoku Monogatari
The nobunaga game is apparently named Lord of Darkness in Murrica.
I'm looking for the most creative/funny ways of killing and torturing guests in Roller Coaster Tycoon.
>>4039627
I just dig a giant hole and watch people
Mill about for eternity
There's a general you could ask in.
>>4039648
>be kid me
>playing Roller Coaster Tycoon
>make an island and put one guest on it
>make a hole in the ground and put another.
>I played on this map for probably irl for a year and a half
>centuries have gone by while these two men have sat in total isolation.
>save get stale so I decide to delete it
>decide to release both of them
>they both walk straight out of the park into a world that has since left them behind.
>there families dead
>there homes gone
>the world they knew is nothing what it was.
I'll never forget pondering how a human could do this.
