Tobal 2 is the best 3D fighter to date for me, and it's adventure mode is weird af and I love it but Eghhrghrheiz has a better quest mode even if the fighting game part of it is kind of not so great.

Pretty much anything is spazzy and fun with four players. Rakugaki is okay, but Poy Poy is easier to pick up and play -- no moves to learn, easy to understand concept. I used to rent it and a 4-tap back when I lived in college dorms (1997), good drunken times.

I used to hate Tobal until it clicked. Now I find amazing how it is perhaps the most realistic 3D fightan even if the characters are weird.

The dungeon explorer mode is clunky and could be way better. And Tobal 2 OST suck. Tobal 2 seems somewhat barebones.

Funny how Tobal was by the guy who created Virtua Figher and Tekken and was essentially his next step in trying to evolve fighting games.

Spent so much time trying to get good at this game. Would slay my friends when they came over. Then youtube came along years later, and saw the speed demons who play this, they are the true puzzle masters. Watching people who are actually good at this is amazing.

that's what I liked about it. No extra bullshit. It had as many characters as it needed without bogging it down, great unique movesets, fluid animation and intelligently designed hitboxes. Honestly didn't like Tobal 2 at all. The HADUKEN addition for every character was unnecessary and took away from the martial arts fun.

I'm honestly surprised that Square hasn't made more Tobal games and made them available for purchase in NTSC and PAL. They're legitimatly better than the Street Fighter games and Drkstalkers and the like (not that they're bad. They're great, but Tobal was ahead of them in it's game mechanics by a long mile).

I believe the main reason is that Toriyama wouldn't be interested in returning to Tobal. He didn't even made any new illustration for Tobal 2, a game that had very few new characters that seem more like rejected characters from the first game. The common enemies, that clearly weren't designed by him don't even try to look like his style and clash so much with the main characters.

Toriyama is tired and has been for years. The only reason he still does Dragon Quest is because he is under some decades long contract.

Also, Dream Factory name is tainted by all the crappy games they made after Ehrgeiz. Xbox and all that shitty exclusives no one bought.
They even shat a fucking UFC game.
