Your entire army is based around assaulting shit and drowning your enemy in hundreds of attacks, now there are plenty of ways to do that but thats just what you do and if you dont like it then WE arent for you.

What if I play a hawkguard warder instead?
So I want to make a Warlord, what's the strongest archetype for Warlord?
Any new shit in the paizo books any good?
I've been trying to put together a bit of a game centered on a WWII unit. Most of the game is centered on being a unit, working together, and bonding to get over stresses and shit that happens. However, I need a good way of representing combat and shooting.
What are the best ways you've seen guns and shooting represented in tabletop? I'd love to steal those mechanics.
the simplest, most basic mechanic in a wargame is giving you trouble... hmmmmmm
I'll give you my method anyways. This was intended for a rainbow six sim and is CQB focused with penetration rules. The combat is geared around point blank firing but adapts to ranged combat acceptably
2d6 + firing skill - range penalty - suppression - cover - firer wounds
1-2 = miss
3-4 = 25% hit rate
5-8 = 50% hit rate
9-12 = 75% hit rate
take the weapon ROF per 3s and calculate the hits. pistol rounds are approx 1 dmg, rifles and shotguns 2, mg's and heavy rounds 3. Shotguns give an estimation based on the pellets. If you're using a slow firing weapon such as a rifle treat the it as a hit or miss proposition
men have three wound states. injured, critical, and dead. It takes a point of damage to incur each state. IE 3 pistol rounds to kill, two rifle rounds, 1 mg round. At injured, the firer has -1 aim. At critical the target has -2 aim and -1 move
Some modifiers for attacks. if the firer has not expended a move to aim it's a -2 to hit. Per increment of range it's a -1 penalty to hit (AKA 3 zones away is -3 to hit). Optics on the gun if aimed give a +x accuracy bonus at their designated range. Targets who have been fired on take a -1 stackable suppression penalty. Partial cover is -2 to hit, full cover is -4. If the firing unit chooses to control their fire to half rpm give a +2, if to 1 rpm ("sniping") give a +3
cover. Units can choose to cower instead of return fire. however if the unit returns fire when their area is being actively sprayed they are treated as if fired on in the usual manner
grenades take a move to ready another to throw
psychological states, you can deal with that. I'd say give them a morale value and when suppression/wounds hit a state combined they suffer X state.
If you want locational damage treat the different percentages as pertaining to hit locations. 25% extremities, 50% chest, 75% vulnerable organs.
cheers I just designed your game mate

Call of the Void has some lovely shooting, we were just chatting about WWI last thread but the game represents WWII firearms far better I feel.

Not working on a war game, so I don't see how that part is applicable. It's a tabletop game meant to help model things like camaraderie and losses within the group through mechanics. I've just not worked a lot with the combat part, because it's ancillary to the emotional and mental components of the character's experiences. I wanted to see other people's ways of doing combat before I got too deep into designing one myself.
Looks pretty simple and quick. I do like the way it deals with machine guns and other multiple fire weapons. It keeps the player from having to throw an entire fortune's worth of dice every time you spray some bullets out of your bullet hose. Could even deal with semi-auto weapons by letting them use either the auto and take penalties or single fire and get bonuses to aiming.

I'll have to look over Call of the Void again. I've been slowly making my way through the core Song of Swords PDF, but I don't have enough of a grasp of it to get more than "Huh they have space whales" out of the Call of the Void book. I'll see about popping over and chatting about what you guys do with your guns.
Let's have a nice cute monster thread, goblins and the like welcome also
>The cleric of the god of luck uses a die as their holy symbol/spellcasting focus

I just bought the Tempest scions box, with a box of troops and an additional Taurox as my first 40k army.
I will be playing my first game this Saturday against a guy who will be playing Dark Eldar. He also got me into the hobby.
I picked this army because I was told there a fast army so I plan on outmaneuvering his DE, by using orders that give me fleet, and crusader to stay 1 step ahead of my opponent, then taking advantage of crusader to gain an advantage for sweeping advance rolls.
Anyone have any pointers for a person getting ready to play his first 40K game with this army?
thanks
>>50161207
Just enjoy yourself. You'll pick it up as you go along.
>>50161247
Any advice on what I'm for?
Like what do the DE bring to the table? What are their strengths and weaknesses compared to mine?
Also did I pick the wrong army to start 40k with?
>>50161207
You're not going to be outmaneuvering Dark Elda. Off the top of my head you can hug terrain and use Move through cover, but Scions are meant to Infiltrate and move reliably in cover, rather than move fast. You won't be anything as good as an army of fleet and fast skimmers, so don't try to play as something you're not.
Keep to cover, fire first with the units that have only a single viable target in range.
Remember that the sweet spot for Hot shots rapid firing is 9".
Remember that you have krak grenades.
And most importantly, remember tohave fun.
Which xeno race has the best fighters?
Which IG regiment has the best guardsmen aside from Cadians?
what do you mean by fighter? as in their strongest possible person they can field, or their average trooper?
for best guard, do you mean the actual guardsmen only, or taken as a whole including armor and scions
Orkz.
Also Orkz
Necrons have the best weapons

Climb up onto another party member's shoulders to stick a torch into what turned out to be a flame-thrower trap.
Our party was sent to find a specific gemstone. We found it in a chest among 'coloured baubles and exquisite marbles' which we promptly left behind because we thought it was literally just glass balls in the chest rather then the DM just being flowery in describing countless gemstones.
Granted we should have asked for clarification but I hate it when the DM inadequately explains things or uses purple prose. Leads to everyone doing stupid shit.
Lore/Crunch-wise how do Pulse Rifles compare to the likes of Bolters, Hotshot-lasguns and other base infantry weapons?
>>50150587
It fires more slowly, but much more powerfully than both of your standard bolter or a lasrifle. I imagine they're closer to a semi-automatic rifle in terms of RPM.
>>50150587
it's weaker and "safe" Plasma Gun
>>50150615
So basically to win against tau in the lore you have to get close.
And my IG always get btfo on tabletop.
I need pictures of vampires. Ugly, beautiful, badass, creepy... all of them are fine, just post 'em.
Don't have much, a lot of it is Warhammer.
Can someone tell me the difference between wisdom and intelligence? I still don't quite get it. How can you be wise but non-intelligent or vice-versa?
Any examples?

What's the best foci you've seen/used? I'm tired of bullshit like boring magic rings that are just used because they're easy to say you always have them on. There's never any flavour to them, no reason why the foci is that shape or how the design helps with the magic being used.
Pic related- my current hermetic mage, who understands magic through musical theory. His earrings (made of a wide variety of bone, wood, and metal) are Spell Shaping Foci, as he uses the sound of them vibrating and rubbing together to help him get more precise with his magic. He also has a native tom-tom as a Sustaining Foci; he drums out a beat that keeps on going, the rhythm keeping his spell going subconsciously.
>>50138993
>What's the best foci you've seen/used?
I had a flask sealed with lead. Not sure what was inside, and it was a force 3 power focus so I wasn't exactly in the mood to take it apart to check.

Never tried some sort of future spectrography to see through it?
Living Foci Best Foci
Since it looks like the devs might have abandoned it at this point, what is left to add to the rules for this thing to be completely playable?
I'm not talking balance issues here; I'm more thinking along the lines of what game systems aren't complete or should be added to finish the game to a playable state.
XP guidelines? Enemy creation tools? More races? create your own transformations?
>>50136530
If anything there's far too much detail. DBZ shouldn't be a dice-rolling game, sorry. There's no reason to have a system that measures power level or energy beams or even movement.
It has to remain as general as possible. The whole project was doomed from the start.
>>50136530
There was going to be equipment which gave bonus dice but put a cap on your successes, and a villain creation system that worked completely different from player character mechanics but each trait gave bonus xp and had some fundamental exploitable weakness.
Also there was talk of separating combat skill budget and noncombat in creation entirely, but that was not the dev's idea.
>>50136530
You'd need to add uses to a bunch of skills, given that many of them are currently pointless. Adding uses to some skills, such as drive, would necessitate creating equipment and vehicles.
Personally, I'd overhaul several large sections of the game before bringing it to my players.

The Duke and Dead of Winter: The Long Night
>What's your favorite game mechanic?
Can't really pinpoint that
>What's your favorite theme?
Somwhat realistic sci-fi but I like many themes
>What's something that disqualifies a game for you because you dislike it so much? Like a certain mechanic or theme.
If it's Star Wars or Warhammer I don't even look at it. Same with legacy games. Ugly presentation or artwork or components also kills it for me even if the gameplay is great.
Can I get some feedback on pic related? Anyone here played it? I'm very interested but not quite sure what to make of it.
>>50132999
>What did you play recently?
Imhotep, Broom Service, Nations: The Dice Game, Coal Baron: The Great Card Game, 4 Gods, Takenoko, Lost Legacy, Mystic Vale
>What's your favorite game mechanic?
Dunno. Game mechanics on their own don't have any value for me.
>What's your favorite theme?
Anime and manga, I guess?
>What's something that disqualifies a game for you because you dislike it so much?
Negotiation, worker placement, zombies.
