I'm looking for gnome wizards. Specifically ones that are trying to pull off the whole evil overlord look and failing because they're only gnomes. In the mean time, I'll be posting random stuff until there's a request.

If you don't feel like talking about animals, here are some other questions.

>What are some common remedies to illnesses and injuries? Do they actually work?
Women will sometimes rub pig guts on their vag to increase their husband's libido for them. Usually has the opposite effect, as you might imagine, but it gets perpetuated anyway.
Most non-Mayyadian medicine is based on superstition and faulty cause-and-effect, so they're all pretty much the equivalent of crazy home remedies.
>What's an old wive's tale from your setting? A common superstition (related to health or otherwise)?
Blind people are agents of evil and discord (somewhat understandable, as blinding is a main form of punishment for disgraced nobility).
>What's the life expectancy of an average person in your setting? Why?
>States under the Third Eye (part of the Splintered League), Saravati, Ioniyus League, Greater and Lesser Sona
~65 if they don't get the Red Tip (somewhat equivalent to the Black Plague, only applies to the States and Greater/Lesser Sona).
This is mostly because of better hygiene and diet in general. In addition, the Red Tip didn't hit the states that it affected as hard because of somewhat draconian practices to get rid of it (in the States: body collection and cremation is a well-oiled machine, private cremation is illegal without the permission of the High Barrister and will result in immediate execution, people who are dirty or smell for significant amounts of time can be fined, etc).
>Elsewhere
~35 - 45, not only because of plague and ineffectual ways of fighting it, but because of wars, banditry, general instability as well as other diseases and maladies resulting from poor hygiene.
Thread Questions:
>What's a creature you think is particularly interesting?
The Western Forest Velociraptor. It is capable of extreme speed even in the densely treed temperate rainforests, and uses said speed to quickly scramble up trees in order to get an edge over their prey.
>What wildlife flourishes in cities or other settlements?
In the streets of Oalenne, colourful coalmoss flowers along impurities in the stone. Some locals swear it can sing under a full moon.
>Tell us about an apex predator in your setting.
Tyrannosaurus. Unfortunately (well, I suppose fortunately for most), they are nearly extinct due to hunting and changes in the ecosystem
MTG Spoilers thread. No Bolas Planeswalker this set? What gives? I feel even if they release one next set it's kind of lame.

Cadia rules leak when?
What's up /tg/? I need some help here.
I'm my groups DM and really like to make believable characters for a rather realistic fantasy Setting. This works quite well for the male NPC's, since I depict them as close to normal male behaviour as possible. They're grounded, have strong values, are often more agressive or daring and don't always show clear emotions in conversation. It works great and my players like the way I play them out.
It's just my female NPC's that are not up to the quality standard. I always tend to make them as direct and efficient and rational as the male NPC's. The players notice and tell me my womans are behaving too much like men. Don't act realistic or are all apathic and emotional blunt. As a guy I just can't get behind the irrational behaviour of woman and adapt it to my NPC's. So I got a few questions for you:
>How do you design a believable female Character or NPC?
>How do they talk?
>How do they handle emotions? How do they show emotions?
>What's their body language?
>What are the differences to men?

OP, don't tell me you didn't know what you're doing. Come on, you even wrote "females" in the title instead of "women".
>>51128488
Sorry if it sounds like this. I mixed the two words up later in the text because my native language isn't english and I got confused.
I really just want some insight and help.
What sort of information is good to give to your players during a session zero as a GM?
System is D&D 5E if it matters.
>>51128158
Houserules go first.
Then comes the bans and the allowences.
If the world is your own creation, a brief history is to be presented, folled by kingdoms, races, gods, etc.
Then follow with what playstyle you're comfortable with, pitch a few ideas for a campaign genre so you are on the same page.
Finally, let them ask questions. A lot of questions. Encourage everyone to assault you with questions.
I can't think of anything else.
Thanks, that's really helpful.
>>51128239
You're welcome.Rotating seal is on the house
I'm fairly new to DMing and am trying to figure out the best way to reward my players, aside from the obvious loot.
Do players really prefer seeing the little xp number on their character sheet rise every time they overcome a challenge?
Or is Milestone levelling the way to prevent a Murderhobo tendancy?
Anyone have strong opinions for or against a side, and willing to debate it out?
I honestly only played PnP games with some kind of milestone leveling, xp for every killed enemy seems so video gamey to me. How do you keep track of all the little shitty goblins you killed?
XP leveling is good if you want to reward role-playing/personal character achievements by giving out exp on personal basis. If you give everybody the same exp, it's the same as milestone-based.
Both are fine as long as you don't give XP based on kills (encounters). Because that's how you get murderhobos.
>>51127811
Quest based XP. Player set (and GM approved) quest goals earn 1 XP each. To level up, you must spend (and lose) as many XP as the level you wish to reach.
Each player tells you what they want to accomplish in the next session or two, and you can prep around that specifically rather than around everything else that might happen.
I want to start getting into painting miniatures. Would this be ok to start with? Any tips or reccomendations appreciated
>>51127402
Sure. But hand brushwork is generally more important. Although an airbrush will be handy for basecoating and some neat effects you're going to need to learn how to handle a traditional brush too.
>>51125731
Bump. I want to get into warhammer eventually but right now I already have a bunch of infinity minis. Id rather start off airbrushing if I can
>>51127464
Cool thanks for the tips. I actually already started buying some supplies for traditional painting, but after reading a thread about painting infinity minis yesterday it sounded like it was easier to spray them.
Hey everybody, longtime lurker here and first time poster. I love tabletop gaming and I love the Avatar universe and have always wanted to see this world adapted for tabletop roleplaying.
Over the years I have seen a variety of adaptations, mostly D&D or other D20 variants, some GURPS or FATE systems as well.
But lately I've been working on adapting the Fantasy Flights rules for Star Wars: Edge of the Empire (et al) for the Avatar universe.
I really like the dice pool system as well as the Success/Fail outcomes as opposed to D&D's numbers-based gaming. I also really think that the system will work well due to the fact that it was specifically designed by FF to adapt a fast-paced, cinematic universe to a tabletop setting. For the Avatar atmosphere, with its scenic and cinematic battles and hi-jinks, I think this is a good jumping-off point.
I've never really done this before though, so if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it.
>>51127356
Have you ever looked at Legend of the Elements, it's another RPG based on Avatar? I've been running a campaign of it and it works pretty well
>>51127424

Which loyalist legion is the most autistic? I want to make the Hugbox Marines.
the word bearers
They're pretty much all on the spectrum, but I'd say the ultrasmurfs with their whole obsession with memorizing the Codex and throwing tantrums every time someone doesn't follow their patterns and rules.
Imperial Fists
Obsessed with building fortresses, just like Minecraft autists. Primarch was a blunt, socially awkward guy, narrow minded and couldn't read social cues for shit.
Anons, am I retarded or I actually see fucking end of 40ktimes coming?
First:
>The whole Abaddon attacks Cadia blah blah blah thing starts
>Inquisitor along WITH FUCKING BLACK TEMPLAR, WHY REEEEEEE WHYYYYY
apparently make some kind of deal with incubi of the dark eldar and they go through webway to Cadia? (I mean what the fuck, it has fucking pylons on it.)
>Tranzyn the newcron becomes a grandpa and for no apparent reason helps the fucking imperium and they accept it like child accepts pedo candy
>The pompous shit goes on Cadia, Abaddon deploys, they arrive from webway, they fight, THEN
>Tranzyn uses the pylons and daemons go away, possessed heads go pop, even fucking Abaddon loses his gifts.. AND APPARENTLY our theory about living saints being emperor's "good" daemons is true, because she loses her powers aswell.
>Abaddon is still strong, knocks the bitch out, then proceeds to strangle Creed as she stabs him in the back and he flees like a pussy he is?
>Then the Cadia overloads and goes boom?
>>51126194
Why do you guys care? BL is not canon only codexes are canon.
go away, frogposter
>>51126235
Make me.
Is there a funnier podcast than the adventure zone? Drunks and dragons is pretty good but their wacky hijinks just aren't as wacky or hijinks.
>>51125996
Not that I'm aware of. Then again, the Adventure Zone is the only competently-done roleplaying podcast I'm aware of.
>>51126142
There are a few ones that have some humor, but they all mostly take themselves too seriously or get otherwise bogged down my the game itself. The story arcs are pretty great in TAZ too, but I've listened to far more of TAZ than I have any other DnD podcasts so I'm pretty biased.
Critical Role
>Elves are immortal!
>Vampires are immortal!
>Undead are immortal!
>Angels and demons are immortal!
>etc.
Have you ever considered that they just have really long "lifetimes" that from the point of view of the ones that, well, write monster manuals they might as well be immortal? Yes, even the undead.
If you want a more apt comparison, imagine that your average Monster Manual is a Pokedex, except where Pokedex is written by impressionable children, Monster Manual is written by impressionable manchildren. In-universe, of course.
Devas are not immortal in mythology, they just live for a very long time (billions of years and more for some).
>>51125143
>Have you ever considered that they just have really long "lifetimes" that from the point of view of the ones that, well, write monster manuals they might as well be immortal? Yes, even the undead.
You mean, that's not how it is already? Huh, guess I've been 'playing wrong'.
>>51125143
If they were trully inmortal, their lifespan would be minus one month.
