> Playing offline

Why are you still clinging to the meme? Take a look at all the positives, all the possibilities of, say, roll20.
> No need to gather in a certain place! You can play with people all across the world.
> Can't smell the foul stench That Guy, and he can't eat the pizza he didn't pay for either
> No need for dice and miniatures! Maps can be imported from a simple image in a minute. Side bonus - can't fudge your dice.
> All character sheets easy to create and edit, are stored forever. Especially useful for the DM and storing 151 kinds of monsters he wants his players to fight! No need for a cluttered DM's screen.
> Initiative tracker is a thing of beauty, you will never forget whose turn it is, and where is goblin 21 with initiative 5 standing right now.
> Can play music for atmosphere without looking like a total faggot.

Advantages of offline sessions:
> Can see other players... Oh wait, web cameras are a thing.

I can get all the benefits of online play while also being in person by using electronics. There is nothing that online gives me that I can not do in person. In person has the benefit of actually hanging out.

It's the same reason people congregate together rather than just post on some chinese girl cartoon image boa--

I see your point.
>>
Physical advantages:
>That sweet, sweet tangible feel when you move the miniatures
>The pleasure of rolling dice for attacks without having to stream your dice rolling for fairness or using a generator.
>Not having to pay for a camera and mic to really communicate with the other players.

Meanwhile at GW headquarters, Mohawk guy desperately tries to make some based rules and stories, while some idiots shouts his idea about bdsm and edge.

It's the only explanation to GW bad rules and writing, small departments do their things without interacting with others. Then they splat all thier ideas into a book and sell it.

"Vigorous writing is concise.
A sentence should contain no unnecessary words,
a paragraph no unnecessary sentences,
for the same reason that a drawing should have no unnecessary lines
and a machine no unnecessary parts.
This requires not that the writer make all his sentences short,
or that he avoid all detail and treat his subjects only in outline,
but that every word tells."

Paying ransom money to a group of kobolds holding his child hostage in in an old tower filled with deathtraps. The kobolds were tasked by their draconic overlord to venture forth and bring back as much treasure as they could, and they figured that extortion was easier and less deadly than adventuring. Of course they don't realize that the duke's taxes come more in the form of wool and turnips than gold and jewels.

What is the general consensus on how the Limit Break system works in 3e?

>>

By that I mean, how well does it work in actual play?
>>
>>51049061

I can't speak for general consensus, but my opinion is that it's a strong improvement both coming and going, but not quite to my ideal taste, so I sprinkled in effects for having Limit that aren't just "fine" or "Breaking," and also gave Solars a way of venting 1 Limit by acting a little like an excessive douche all the time rather than letting it build into one big freakout, Act of Villainy style.

So like, 8/10 by default, and 10/10 for ease of jiggering it to where I wanted it to be.

This may not be the correct board so I'm sorry if this post is out of place

I haven't played Duel Monsters (Yu Gi Oh) in about 15 years and I found my childhood deck while on holiday at my parents' house. And I know it's still relatively popular today

But what I'd like to know is aside from the card in the updated Banned/limited list, am I able to use my decades old cards in tournament or regulation play at my local D&D/magic hangouts?

Basically what I'm asking is are 1st edition or series 1 cards eligible for modern play?

Freeform RP thread, share stories, fun times, and other shit done in freeform RP

Freeform RP is a style of game without the constraints of rules systems, instead relying on trust between people to weave a collective narrative

While there are of course the stories of 'teleports behind u and stabs u w/ katana pssh nothin personal kid', a group of people who actually trust eacohther can create something great.

Any stories?

When I look back on gaming stories I like to be able to say "_____ happened". Getting rid of dice and tables takes away any sense of an impartial reality outside of everyone's heads. Things don't "happen" in your game anymore, you just make shit up. What you're describing is group storytelling. It's great, but it's not a game.

I have a request for someone to find/draw some DnD character art. I already have art for my character unarmoured, but he's recently gone through a bit of a storyline getting demonic armour and making it markedly less evil. In-game it looks really nice, and I wanted to properly integrate that into the game by getting secondary character art. With that being said, there are rather specific requirements, in order of importance.

-Needs to have a helm on. If it doesn't, the character at least needs to look believably like pic related. Easily priority #1.
-Needs to be a human woman, or at least look like the human man pictured.
-Should be regal looking. Gilded, gold trim, etc.
-The DM mentioned that it was mainly black, but I don't think it was set in stone. I may end up sending him a bunch to choose which is most appropriate, though, so he may have a preference for black armour here.

The /tg/ community has already helped me a bunch, but a few more images to choose from would be greatly appreciated. Especially if someone manages to find that perfect character art. Thank you for your time and help in any event.

Hope this is pertinent

First of all, for anyone also wanting to run a campaign:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1tgHTQY5OfUQMxXNLbBQd-Wrwv5fLSax-RGOsXuUUmIs/edit

I was thinking of having a game with a couple of friends set in the JoJo universe and I came up with a few stand concepts to be NPC's stands and perhaps for players to use (either to test the game or if they like them, or maybe if I'm playing as a PC). Could you give some feedback? I've not come up with names for most of them yet, that would be cool too

>Stand #1

This stand takes the form of a mask of a fossilized ape's head with antlers and a samurai helment, with a long flowing cape of fur on the back that is long enough to partially cover the user. The stand's ability is to secrete a gray, ashy smoke. Anything object touched by it will begin to technologically step backwards; A car will turn into a carriage, a plane will turn into a passarola, a gun will turn into a crossbow, etcetera. It also works on life forms, turning humans into monkeys, for example. The range, however, is low, plus it offers little protection

>Continued
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>51116087

>Two headed boy

A jack in the box. When the literal two headed boy comes out, hands comes out of his mouths and dash towards targets with a range of about 20 meters. If they hit, their consciousness is ripped out, then put into the other person's body. He can also switch the user with someone else.

>Stand #2

A vaporizer (or perhaps smoking pipe). When smoke is blown out of it, it can be shaped by the user's nimble hands into solid objects made of smoke, which fade with time. it can create a simple weapon, a series of steps, a wall, a not too complex mechanical part, etc

>muse

This stand takes the form of a somewhat robotic secretary, as well as a buttler and a personal trainer. The secretary is insanely good at keeping track of responsibilities, goals and important information and pressures the user into learning and achieving success, physically assaulting them with a thin cane if they don't. The buttler performs daily tasks for them, such as grocery shopping or cleaning. The personal trainer forces them to physically improve and has motivational words. In terms of physical combat, the trainer part is roughly half as fast and strong as a punchghost, but knows martial arts.

I just really like the concept of Stands and would like to run a jojo based game. This is the first time I made this type of thread. If it's upsetting or the consensus is it doesn't belong on /tg/, I'll appologize and delete the thread. I was under the impression /tg/ liked JoJo.

>Stand #3

A large staff, with the top part resembling a stylized bee hive. Several bees resembling clay dolls live inside. They are able to gather emotions and feelings from people like a bee gathers pollen and then redistribute these emotions, either draining someone of motivation or filling someone with anger, for example. Also, they're simple bees, with stingers that may be used for combat

Cont, llast part
