Re-introducing specialist games, moving the story and fleshing out the lore of 40K and AoS respectively and creating a bunch of ridiculously high value - low cost SC! boxes means that no-one should be surprised by this.

Everyone with a brain knew that AoS was a success. Almost anything compared to WHFB was a success. WHFB was dying because of the toxic player base surrounding it. Cutting off the toxic customers via a newcomer friendly reboot ensured that loyal customers stayed and new customers were drawn in droves.

Most of my churches have their own crack team of pious warriors and powerful clerics that will enforce that god's edict, whether that entails slaying monsters, beating up on money changers, protecting crops, or taking peasants.

My setting has servants and warriors of Bahamut who hunt evil doers and track the spread of corruption across the realm. They typically use infiltrators and spies to weed people out and the ride in on pegasi to wipe them out.

Back in the day, ye olden special forces were called "crack troops", able to create cracks in the enemy's military strategy, structure and force.

The King's Guard tends to have the very best men for the job, too.

In fantasy settings things like Dragon Knights and so on would have folks who are highly trained to be the first on the scene, equipped with huge amounts of firepower that they concentrate on highly delicate tragets and missions, and able to quickly redirect their efforts to help friendlies in distress during larger battles.

Rogues, Assassins and the like, in general, can do many of these things if of a sufficiently high level.

Suicide missions are probably less suicidal with Invisibility spells or gear, and a permanent Silence spell cast on a tiny rock you can pull in and out of a Bag of Holding.

Circles of Teleportation could also allow for rapid troop deployment, sabotage, infiltration, etc.

He wears the clothes and has the rifle of the top left, with the saber and dagger at his side. He wears a helmet like the top right, and a padded coil that conceals his face, sans eyes. He has two bags like the bottom right on his persons. His gear and clothes should be somewhat ragged, but repaired/mended to be in fully functioning condition. He could also have buckskin gloves, but that's up to you.

For me I tend to have a few things carry over:

This varies depending upon the setting and rules, but is meant to be a back up plan for if the players don't want to follow the main plot and instead go dungeon-delving and murder hobos.

For example, in D&D 5th edition I've got a campaign going where all of the stuff from the 4 main books (PHB, MM, DMG, SCAG) is allowed and can be found. But some things (usually classes or races from earlier editions of D&D, along with the UA races and archetypes) are "hidden options" for the players. If they come across these individuals throughout the adventure I then "unlock" that race or class to be playable should they die and roll up a new character.

None of this Saturday Morning Cartoon villainry, my BBEGs have an actual reason for doing all the evil they perpetrate in my campaigns. Usually it's some form of, "I know better than the rest of the world, so bend to my whims," but there's evidence to support these claims.

a traveller from somewhere far off who wanders into town looking for skilled warriors to fight and is kind of an ass about it. He makes for some easy one-session antagonism and can be made into a recurring character if the players like him. I find myself using him and his entourage in quite a few games

If a hive tendril of even standard size collided with abbadons black crusade, it would fuck it up completely. And I'm almost certain if the tyranids made it to cadia or terra they could overrun their defenses. I doubt even the beast waaagh or emperor era imperium would be able to defeat the tyranids, only the fully united necrons really stand a chance. Tyranids truly are the biggest threat

So basically I GM heavily modified Only War hook from GM kit. Party killed general, a new player will come in and I don't know how to play out the whole Dark Eldar attacking Severate Dominion and the rescue with new player. By heavily modified I meant I kicked out survival on local herbs bullshit since I don't like one mission go for a whole year and I actually made them get into abandoned hive and spooked the shit out of them, though they rekt DE scout party later due to the great rolls. Also, they had Jannisary attachement with them and one of them did a double crit on a frag nade.. during a final fight. (2d10, two 10's) Well I ask for your advice what to do next, thoughts and I hope sincerely that they dont lurk /tg/.

So to start off a new thread, I ask you /tg/:

Since RT-era miniatures are in such short supply, what miniatures would you use instead for that same oldschool flavor?

I was considering picking up some of these guys from the Ion Age range of miniatures as proxy Space Marines. They aren't beakies, but they certainly seem to fit the theme of "knights in space" while still looking technological.

If you were building an oldschool army, what would you proxy/counts-as with?

Why not an improved trap class feature to replace mechanical servant?
Since artificer is already a tinkerer more or less, adding different things to traps might be interesting, would also give some neat area control/set ups.

I want to play a character that uses a chain as a weapon, I want something hardier than a Human but isn't a Dwarf, Orc, or Half-Orc for the reasons that I already have 3 dwarves made and I don't like the aesthetic of orcs.

Is there a list of race stats that got converted from 3.5 or?
