What are the things I need to put in a Medic Kit to cover almost every injury or ailment /out/?

So far I have:
baking soda, aloe, dramamine/emetrol, neosporin, ginger tabs, milk magnesia, tylenol, fiber pills, imodium, ammonia tabs, Israeli bandage, saline, sutre kit, nail cutter, nail file, soap bar, whistle, 5x magnifying glass, Rip Shears, floss, tea tree oil, tape, stretch gauze, 3" gauze (do I need bigger?).

What a good kind of tweezer?
What kinds of scissors/cuticles/forceps do I need??

And I'm thinking about getting a Combat Application Tourniquet .

Is there a need for any CPR devices or oral or nasal airway passages? I know not how to use them.

And what of burn ointment?

Finally, please recommend me an IV bag.

...I want to cover anything I encounter that happens to myself or someone else in any urban or rural setting.

Thanks in advance /out/!

Don't carry anything you don't know how to use.

You don't need any devices for cpr. If they need cpr while /out/, they're just dead.

You don't need an "IV bag". You don't know how to start an IV, or how to use one. You can kill someone if you don't know how.

Everything you listed is for treating minor aches and pains. Don't worry about saving a life, you won't anyways. Just keep a few things for treating minor stuff and you'll be fine.
>>
OP here. What medicine and bark treats diarrhea?

I'll be in the city mostly so I don't care about carrying too much. When I'm buggin out I'll drop all the useless stuff.

You should list all the injuries you and your compadres have had. This will tell you exactly what to bring.

Hey there /out/!

Sadly my thread in /trv/ did not have many replys and thus I am now hoping that i can get a little insight from you guys maybe

I want to do a sort of "journeymans walz" around next year as it is called in the german speaking area (Austrian here) and visit countries with craftsmen who are willing to pass down their knowledge to their fellows.
At the moment I found a group of craftsmen in Latvia who do exactly what I want to achieve as a blacksmith (but I didn’t contact them yet and don’t know if they would take someone in). On the other hand I am also looking at other countries here in Europe with great blacksmithing history. I always wanted to visit the whole of Scandinavia, I wouldn’t mind working in Ireland, Scotland or England. I would love to go to Canada and heck I would even work in the USA if I was given the chance to learn being a proper blacksmith/bladesmith.
So my main question goes to the fellow /out/gents (This goes out to all craftsmen be it carpenters, smiths, welders etc.) how is your the country in general? Are you open for foreigners? Why would you recommend your country why would you not?
Do you know any blacksmiths, have you yourself ever travelled and worked for another “master” to improve your skill?

If you have any questions for me I am more than glad to give you an answer!

Thank you guys for your time and hope that i don't violate your bord rules to much

A quick summary of me. I am a 25 year old Blacksmith and recently achieved my journeyman’s degree here in my home country Austria. After a lot of detours (mostly university) I started an apprenticeship at the age of 22. I quit my job because my former employer and his company were literally hell (for example, my boss would stand beside me and would stop the time it took me to forge 100 coat hangers etc.) and in addition the love of my life suddenly left me after 5 years. So moved back to my hometown ( for the apprenticeshipI moved to another part of the country and lived pretty much alone for 3 years during the week while my ex-girlfriend was studying at the university, had neither friends nor family, only work).
I am a trained metal worker but not that much of a blacksmith, although I won a few prices during my apprenticeship, and that is something I want to change. The trade itself is slowly fading away in my country although there are still some institutions left. There are just a few shops that do blacksmithing exclusively (I am talking about blacksmithing not metal work like steel constructing frames or simple hand railing for flats etc.) and those who do can hardly pick up another "unskilled" worker.
So the thing is, i don’t have anything left in my life that would keep me here and furthermore working in metal construction would be hell for me (no offense to fellow welders and so on, it is just not the right job for me), but blacksmithing on the other hand is more than fulfilling. Aside from the general balcksmith, the bladesmith as a job nearly completely vanished from our job market, those who do are very few self taught or blacksmiths who took up the trade and this is what I intend to do. But before I can open a shop I want to learn from mastersmiths how things are done. Hand forged tools for every purpose is that what i want to do in my future

Maybe to give a little more insight, here's a work of mine. A bottle holder made from stainless steel and apple wood.
For the fellow craftsmen this is what i love about working with so different materials like combining wood with metal to create something usefull and also appealing

It depends entirely on where you live and what kind of material that are easily available. Judging by your pic i would say just insulate the floor, roof, walls and everything with spruce.

I live in Westchester county NY, whenever I go innawoods or a hiking trail I get ambushed by gnats or whatever those annoying fucks are called

You can get them at Walmart, and pretty much any sporting goods place that is worthy of the title. Just don't spray it with deet, depending on the fabric deet with destroy it.

Still hot out hurr. Gonna see if some sneks will go for buzzbaits or chatterbaits. The bass are still so slow, I'm not expecting them to hit anything not on the bottom. Hopefully the chatterbaits and buzzbaits don't work, because I will end up buying a bunch more if they do.

What does /out/ carry when /out/doors?

I carry my Taurus PT111 9mm with me at all times, either in my molder belt holster or an IWB depending on where I am and whether or not I'm near other people.

I know a lot of people aren't fans of guns while /out/, and instead prefer to carry a spray or other kind of deterrent. I carry because I have a lack of trust of other campers due to a past experience, and I'm willing to sacrifice the non-lethal option for the deterrence that a firearm has. I want to get a higher caliber weapon, more than likely a revolver, to actually be able to defend against an animal, say a mountain lion or boar.

What is /out/s general opinion on firearms innawoods? Do you carry, and why?

>and why?
Two-legged predators, mostly. If though some celestial misfortune I should stumble onto a drug deal or a grow site or a meth lab or something then I'm sure as shit going to want a gun. Apart from that, it's useful for survival purposes. I don't really worry about critters at all because there are no wolves or brown bears where I live, mountain lions are shit-scared of people and dogs, and black bears will fuck right off if you yell at them. I honestly worry more about coyotes than anything else; those little shits can become absolutely fearless and they travel in packs.
>>
>>839182
Coyotes are a problem everywhere, it seems. The county offered "bounty rewards" on them where I was out west because they were enough of a problem, and I used to see them on a daily basis. Down here in the South they don't show their faces, but they eat small animals like cats and chickens during the night.

Mountain lions out in Tooele County of Utah are becoming a problem because the people living there have thought it a good idea to start feeding the deer.
>deer head into the valley
>mountain lions follow
Last I heard nobody had been attacked, but there were more than enough sightings to be worried about. And that's in the suburbs for fucks sake.
>>

How do I start cycling?
My goal is to be able to cycle 100km.
How does a person who has never cycled before start out?
45 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
You basically just go and don't stop

Literally just don't stop

Even obese people can do 100km on a bicycle in a day

Pedal as fast as possible until your legs cramp so badly you cannot pedal, do this twice a week. This will build muscle the fastest for long term riding. You could actually probably sprint 100km with a bicycle on one of your first training sessions if you are average health.

-I bike 30-50 miles 7 days a week and go on much longer rides monthly
>>
>>838435
First: Buy a bike.

Then basically bike a lot. You can do a training regimen like what >>838441 suggested, but you really don't need to be that gung ho about it if your goal is distance rather than speed.

You can start small and work your way up, starting with short rides and then working yourself into longer ones. You can go from a normal amount of biking to 100 KM in a day pretty easily.

In high school I biked across the US (from Charleston, SC to San Diego, CA) with no real prior biking experience and I only really trained for about two months, and it wasn't really as rigorous as other anon's suggestion. My "training" consisted of maybe biking about 60 miles (100km) twice a week (I was still in school, so there was little time to train during the week) and riding my bike everywhere instead of driving. I started out with just 15 mile rides (25 km) and just increased the distance each time. I probably could have gone at it even more intensely, but the amount that I did was more than enough to prepare for my trip, which in terms of biking, was about 85-130 miles (140-200 km) every day for several weeks.

So basically anon, 100km is very very doable and possible with little to no training. I would say that once you get there, work on being faster, as that is much harder to do. Also, be prepared for butt burn and hand blisters on your first few rides. But that'll go away quickly.

Im in a competition with my dad: who can make the better walking stick.

I got this stick(i dont know what kind of wood).

He got a straight piece of cedar.

Pic related, the stick with the tools ive used thus far. I was thinking of sealing the ends with wax and sticking it in the garage so it can dry slowly and to prevent splitting. Then once it has seasoned i will rub it down with sandpaper low to high grit so it will be really smooth. Next i was thinking i might rub it down with linseed oil once a day for a week, then 3 times a week for 1 week, then once a week for a month, then once a month for a year. I have seen some walking sticks with sand mixed with lacquer as the coating.

any ideas, i will post more pics.

TL;DR noob apnea tips pls
Hi, /sp/ecialists,
I have found a love for apnea. Freediving this year in Croatia was fun as fuck (hunting shells, seastars and stuff) and I want to train for next year as well as for shits and giggles. If there are any freedivers here, I have a couple questions I couldn't find online:

>How often should I practice my O2 and CO2 tables? Erryday? Every other day? My maximum the last time I checked was 2:02 static (it's shit, but what can ye do but train more) and I want to get better.
>Is there any advice regarding fins I should know? I dived only in shoes this year and it was difficult moving around, I feel fins would give me a great advantage. What should I look at when buying fins?
>Any tips on great dives around Europe?

Thank you. I want to get more in shape and this seems like a great sport.

>>How often should I practice my O2 and CO2 tables? Erryday? Every other day? My maximum the last time I checked was 2:02 static (it's shit, but what can ye do but train more) and I want to get better.
I never did anything special to train except for my technique which is a few minutes of deep breaths, complete inhale and compete exhale, pretty slow so not to hyperventilate. There is science behind this, but I can't be fucked to explain it. There are some very goot tutorials on youtube.
>>Is there any advice regarding fins I should know? I dived only in shoes this year and it was difficult moving around, I feel fins would give me a great advantage. What should I look at when buying fins?
Fins are a MUST for even casual diving. Human feet are shit in water and the mobility fins give you is insane compared to bare feet. There are a bunch of different finns, but you should just look for semi-stiff, pretty long, preferably without a back-strap/ just slip ons. I suggest getting a chepa pair so if the're to stiff/long/short/ narrow etc. you know what to look for.
>>Any tips on great dives around Europe?
Literally all of the mediterranean is the fucking bomb and it's cheap as fuck. Going to malta for a week in a month to scuba dive, and I've been to many of the countries around the mediterranean and they're seriously good.
Also, where are you from? I guess ireland due to your use of "ye". Anyway, your seas are cold as fuck, and I don't know if you can dive there in anything thinner than a thick wetsuit. But Ican say for a fact that cold reefs are sick, and you shoud check them out.

I'm staying in the thread, so if you have questions just ask.
