Hey /out/
What do you do with your trash?
bag it and toss it in a thicket where it won't be seen for awhile and get the hell out of there
>>837401
throw it in the closest river when I stop to take a shit.
>>837401
I usually only /out/ in any given place once, for me it is all about seeing new things and such.
So generally I just leave it.
does anyone here own an SBS? can you guys recommend it?
I got to try one from a rental shop near a bike path on the north end of my island, it was much more fun than I expected, and I could see it cutting down ground transit times (currently it takes me a bit more than 20 minutes to walk a ~1.5km route to work every day), but I don't know if it's actually more than a novelty that would wear out soon after buying it, or if it would just explode and kill my family anyway.
Any opinions?
Are you so lazy that you cant buy a skateboard
>>837243
skateboards don't have mass-sensitive velocity, high speed rotation or reversing
fundamentally they're similar, but the function is very different
There is a whole board for this

What does /out/ take to eat while /out/?
>>837159
I hunt and gather my food. Theres plenty to eat innawoods. I only bring 2 days of rations if all else fails (which it hasnt yet). My rations are usually jerky, some bannock ingredients, trail mix, and sometimes something like a can of tuna or soup.

Where is your innawoods?

Hi, I'm trying to get into backpacking/hiking and I am confused over exterior and interior frame backpacks. Are there advantages in having an interior frame rather than a exterior frame?
Sorry to say but some butthurt faggots are about to come shit on your thread because they hate backpack threads.
You will likely have to go elsewhere for useful information.
Google whipsnake
External frames used to be the standard. They were very popular until maybe the late 80s when internal frames began to become popular.
External frames don't have to be loaded that carefully as they carry loads a little more evenly. They also are great for lashing things to the outside of the pack. Many external frames can be set down, and remain sitting upright, making them easy to access. Some say they handle extremely heavy loads better.
Downsides are they they are generally wider, which can mean they catch on branches and such easier. They also carry the load farther from your body, so you do tend to have to lean forward a bit to keep balance.
Internal frames are generally more popular. They are easier to maneuver with since they carry the load closer to your body, many people also say they are generally more comfortable, as you can often fit themy easier to different body sizes and types. They also can be lighter, as you can remove the internal frames on many packs when you aren't carrying much of a load.
how can a normie get himself into outdoors? i don't live in USA neither i have someone to go out with but im sick of the home>school>repeat routine
open door
go outside
Literally this
>buy local map
>pick point on map
>walk to said point and back
>rinse and repeat with longer distances or in other places
>congratulations, you am now hiker
>>836953
i find it awkward, just walking with no purpose ;-;
i posit that /out/ puts too much trust in materials? ya?
So how should you go about it instead.
>>836555
this is what explorers do.
>ge

#74-"Carp or Crap?" Edition

Skid is back with a carp recipe:
>You get a board of oak
>Then you scale the carp
>You nail it to the board by it's head and tail
>You chop onions, potatoes, and bell peppers and surround the fish
>Salt and pepper then put it in the oven at 375 degrees for 2 hours
>Once it's done you peel the fish of and scrape away the vegiees and eat the board- it will taste much better than the fish.

General /out/ wristwatch thread.

Besides screaming "I have autism!", what else does all the other shit on those watches do?

Still figuring it all out I see
If the world was completely inhabited (except by you and animals, plants, etc), where would you place yourself for the highest chance of survival?
>>836379
Uninhabited?
Probably somewhere near a coast with mild winters. PNW or Carolinas? British islands wouldn't be too bad either.
Alabama/Georgia/Tennessee border
Don't have a specific place in mind, buy I would think a decent sized island would be the the best place. I imagine the continents would get overrun with all sorts of things without people around.
I'm about to go to my friends to cut all the crap around his fence(pecan youngsters and hackberry, weeds) and he wants me to throw it in the nearby dumpster.....But I was thinking....what if I get all that stuff and spread it around the base of the two fruit trees that are there?(Pecan and Pomegrante) Would that help or hurt the trees? Also, there is a dead dog on the way there that looks like it got hit by a car yesterday and its been decomposing since yesterday.... Should I bury it by the base of the tree? I hope someone here is high enough level to help cause a guggle search yielded no results. I'm just thinking in terms of giving back to the earth, but I don't want to hurt the trees....Uh oh,,,, I gotta go... I will proceed to carry these things out....I hope I'm not goofin....yall will tell me when I get back, ill bring you more pictures. Pic Related....its a spider I almost walked into yesterday, my phone is crappy so you cant see but the sunofabich had a clear head and that African mask lookin ass...I should be dead right now.... Ill be back In a couple of hours....
This board moves fast....I left my phone at home so ill provide pictures later, Well, I wasn't able to do either thing, cause my friend didn't want to....he said the clippings wouldn't help, and did not know if the dead dog would help or hurt so he told me to bury it somewhere nearby. I did so, reluctantly.....
I felt as though it was a waste, for the dog to end up in a landfill, or even this... me diggin a hole that leads to nothin.....As I dug through the rocky, craggy soil...I thought about the flower of evermind, and how it always grew on the graves of the kings of Rohan.....what will grow here? Then my friend brought me water, and my digging became 10X easier.....
>>835974
Thanks much for this....ironic that the page had an ad for a cow drug... But do you guys know what I mean about burying this dog? Isnt this the reason why the climate is changing? Cause we are not returning organic material to where it belongs? Instead it goes to a landfill, to stagnate with lightbulbs and batteries and chemicals....
Is survivor fake?
How legit is that show?
>>835723
Rendering sage useless. Clearly out related
It's faintly acceptable to ask how legit a show like man v wild is, but survivor? Have you ever actually watched it?
Are gorkas any good? Are they really water and wind proof to any significant extent? I can get a whole package for $40, both pants and jacket.
Water Proof? No
Resistant? Sure
They are excellent wind breakers for sure.
At 40$ the worst you have is semi decent clothing for less than good weather.
>>835605
It's worth it for that price
Tell us where you're getting it?
>>835605
Where are u getting it?
So I went hiking a couple days ago and got lost. Ended up seeing aging fire lookout in the distance and decided I could stay there for the night until I got my bearings. It was aging agongnbandoned shithole but very pretty none the least and just cleaned it up a lot. I fell in love with it and cried when I left. It's only been abandoned 10 or something years. Is there any chance I could consult with the forest service to clean it up and restore it? It's too beautiful of a place to let decay any more
>>835501
Christ sorry for my grammar. I got back and my hands feel almost numb.
I'm sure they'd be fine with historic reconstruction, and going through all the channels to do it legally
Just give them a call
>>835501
>cried when I left
Is it true water bottles retain a smell after having flavored drinks in them, thus attracting animals?
>>835282
for a while yea. I make my nalgenes since they are all the white ones. but eventually if you wash them enough the smell and taste leave.
I use those little squirt bottles for flavor + caffeine and after about 10 minutes under full hot from my sink it is gone.
I wouldn't take your protein powder nalgene out unless you are using protein powder while out. the nalgne I use for that always has a milky smell.
>>835318

If you leave them open, in camp bear country, and there isn't someone more of a dumbass than you camping nearby frying food in grease
I live in the middle of nowhere and until I get my weapon license I have access only to a 4.5 mm air rifle. A few days ago I noticed that some of my cats are missing and that my parents shitty maltese dog is getting scared as fuck at night, waking us up with high pitched unusual barking. 45 minutes ago I heard the cats and the dog going mental so I headed out with my trusty air rifle and a flashlight sticking at the side of it. I walked out on our meadow and heard this weird screaming and turnes the light on. I had something to see, like five of these fuckers running away from a bush. So do I wait for them at night on our shed roof? Do I scare the fuck out of them with stomping? What?
>>835145
get a real dog some breed that is bred to kill wolves. better yet get two. you won't see these fuckers again.
Stop letting your cats rape and kill the wildlife you dog fucking twat
>>835145
Are bows legal there?
