What's a decent tent for summer time? One that's waterproof, bug-proof and for around 4-5 people?
Or better said what are some good brands?
>>837545
Colomon or Ozark trail are nice

Here you go, OP. I love my Eureka! tents. We use them often with my crew.
Why is it so hard to find the right saddle?
Does anyone have a custom made saddle?
My bones around the inner pubic areas (see pic) feel so sore after just a ride of around 20 miles.
I have already put on a gel cover over the original saddle, but it doesn't help.
>>837453
you need/want something like this.
>>837453
also, there are many
>>837481
this is also good to prevent impotence. casual bikers don't have major issues but anyone who spends several hours a week with their grundle pressed into a bike saddle risks losing vital groin blood pressure over time
what kind of sneak is this?

I enjoy going on very long walks, and I can walk for many hours and cover immense distances without stopping. If I could be a professional walker for a living, I would, and wondering if I can make it possible.
I recently came across this article about people who walk extremem distances:
http://listverse.com/2015/06/02/10-regular-people-who-have-walked-amazing-distances/
And I would like to do something similar. If I were to walk out the door tomorrow and keep walking for 100 days, no one would know or care, and I would end up dead or in prison or mental institution soon. How would I get funding and a support team (doubt these people walked carrying tents, rifles and food/water everywhere).
Some have done it "to raise money for charity" so how would that even work? How would I get people to fund several months of walking journey and enough donations to the organization to warrant it? I have Aspergers, so one possibility is walking to raise money for autism awareness/research.
Get a job and save money. Live off that money while you adventure (the only other alternative is being born rich). That is what most, if not all of those people did. If you somehow get a large amount of publicity, then you might be able to supplement with donations.
You could do what Sarah Marquis did and use pic related for hauling your gear.
Just do a frontflip
I for one seek to become a professional breather one day.
I found a bunch of mushrooms today while out. I was hoping some wine more knowlagable than me can help me safely identify them. Im fairly new to mushrooms. Thanks in advance.
>>836798
>letting unknown samples touch like that
>>836800
Is it not reccomended to let them touch? Only the small ones were mixed together.
Again, I am new to this. Any and vice is appreciated.
>>836801
>is it unwise to let let very fragile mushrooms with spores that could possibly kill you in minutes rub against each other?
Does someone have a recommendation for a book on edibles and medicinal plants applicable to the southern Appalachian foothills?
About to share what I did today.
Gathered some of these bundles to make a refreshing drink while I was innawoods.
>>836268
Smashed them into a bowl and added ice water, about 4 cups. Let it sit for an hour.
>>836271
Filtered through a cloth then coffee filter. Added about 1 part sugar water to 4 parts juice. This was great but then....
Riddle me this, /out/: How can you justify leaving the safety and protection of a city in order to invade nature? Who gave you the 'right' to trample over innocent wildlife, leaving garbage and the stench of humanity across our precious wilderness?
You can look at pictures and read magazines about nature, so why waste time and money in order to destroy what mother earth creates? You choose instead to pollute the once-pristine waterfalls and forests with your filth, and eventually poison some wild animal with your rotten carcass. Only the very wealthy and the very poor spend time in the wilderness, making any outdoor activity indicative of our fascist class divide. If you demand to return to the earth, buy a window box and grow some carrots. But leave mother nature out of it, she did nothing wrong.

>he lives in a city
>instead of harmonizing with nature
>he blights the landscape with towers and concrete
tl;dr
>A person who utters such disgusting, depressing noises has no right to be anywhere, no right to live.

At least cities keep all the destruction in one place.
I want to get some good quality antibiotics for an extended trek I've planned, but I don't know how to do it. Doctors won't prescribe them unless you have an existing illness, so what can I do?
You can buy it from pet stores. It's the same grade stuff. Allegedly
>>836190
wtf do you need oral antibiotics for?
topicals should do the job
>>836190
My doc will write me a script real easy for antibiotics. Just be honest and ask. It's not like you're trying to get 240 oxycontin or some shit, a reasonable doc shouldn't have any issue if you tell them you're going innawoods for a month and want something just in case.
I'm moving to Potsdam, NY in a couple weeks in St. Lawrence County, NY. Coming from Connecticut with so few /out/ opportunities, I would like to appreciate upstate while I am there.
I have effectively no /out/ experience, and I would like to work up to 3-4 day backpacking trips. Can I get some suggestions for what I will need and some ideas for /out/ings in the area? Anyone from here live in/are familiar with the area? Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks m8s.
Also, is solo backpacking considered suicidal, or otherwise ill-advised?
You be wanting sum spoon feedin you worthless cunt
>>836156
The High Peaks area is great, just choose a mountain around there and go climb it
>>836156
Solar backpacking is awesome, but I'll advised for a first timer. Not sure if you have friends in the area, but you'd learn a lot from a few hikes with someone who has experience.
To start pick somewhere for a day hike. Just take a bad with some watee, maybe a few snacks, and the right clothing for the day. Pick a hiking spot that's not easy to get lost, like a state Park.
From there it's a lot of learning to start doing overnights. There are lots of threads here to read through, and there's info online all over the place.
Hey /out/
I enjoy freediving, and I'm currently trying to get better at it. I am looking for a depth gauge so that I can find my maximum depth for each dive. I am considering buying this one
https://www.amazon.com/Genesis-by-Sherwood-Depth-Gauge/dp/B000KZVA1S/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1471107667&sr=8-5&keywords=diving+depth+gauge
I don't need anything special like a dive watch, or dive computer, I just want an inexpensive depth gauge. Does anyone have experience with this one, or have a recommendation of another?
>>835862
I don't remember what brand, but I do remember seeing a watch for exactly this. I thought about buying it but I am a pussy ehen I free dive mainly because I do it alone. so I don't need a bunch of proof I only went 30 feet down.
do some google searches. if my cheap ass considered it, it can't be expensive.
>>835924
Was it this one?
https://www.amazon.com/Pyle-Waterproof-Multi-Function-Chronograph-Temperature/dp/B0068NYD1A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471121248&sr=8-1&keywords=free+dive+watch
I think Suunto makes watches for free divers.
They probably have exactly what you're looking for
What that? Should eat?
>>835131
Looks like a puffball. Slice it up, look for gills. No gills = puffball. Look for discoloration. It needs to be pure white or you'll get sick eating it.
Good puffball identification and such.
>>835131
The general rule of consuming unidentified flora is pretty standard procedure for this. First contact the UFO to your lips and wait 3 hours, no reaction means touch it to your tongue and wait 3 hours, no reaction to that then means grind it up into a paste and mix it with alkalised water, then with a syringe shoot that shit directly behind your eyeball.

Unless its a immature amanita cap, then you have a false sense of security for 3 days and die terribly.
http://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/local/michigan/2016/08/10/michigan-fish-teeth/88516990/
A few Michigan anglers this summer reeled in fish that smiled back with human-like teeth.
The fish are called pacus, and they are not supposed to be on the end of anglers’ lines, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. State officials say the fish are becoming an annual part of summer thanks to residents disposing of them in local rivers, streams and lakes.
In July, Michigan anglers caught three pacus — two in Lake St. Clair and another near Port Huron.
that's pretty creepy....
"The pacu is not normally dangerous to people but it has quite a serious bite, there have been incidents in other countries, such as Papua New Guinea where some men have had their testicles bitten off," Mr Carl said.
>>834554
Kek those things are getting loose now? They look like pirhanas but get as big as a turkey platter. I'd be down to catch some of those. I wonder if they actually survive the winter. Most southern states you can't own pirhanas because they are afraid of them becoming an invaisive species but you can still buy them in places with cold winters. I wonder if I can get a few pacu down here and release em.
There's only one thing to do now...
>>834558
>I wonder if they actually survive the winter.
allegedly, they're not supposed to
Well i got snakes... With human traits.
How do I make sure my future kids are well-versed in the outdoors and nature? I would hate to have them grow up surrounded by plastic and digital entertainment.
Go for a hike
>>834307
Do things with them outside? That's all there is to it
>>834307
It is literally as simple as taking them outside. Take them camping and hiking, teach them the different plants and trees in your area, show them how to build a fire, take them hunting, fishing, etc. As long as they have good memories associated with the outdoors from an early age, they will always like it. I don't think you should necessarily swear off letting them use technology, since in the modern world, forcing them to be luddites puts them at a disadvantage, but don't be afraid to set some restrictions. Maybe no games on their phones, and limit their computer time, etc. You don't need to be a tyrant, but try to make it so they have to learn how to entertain themselves.
Any one here /Geologymajor/? I am staring my first year in Geology and wanna make sure im not fucking myself in the future.
>>834117
> future
> because America won't need oil
WTF do you think "geology" is all about?
Rocks?
How quaint.
Geologic Engineering will get you paid.
Geology will get you a job at your local national history museum.
>>834117
Geology senior here. Hydrogeology would probably be your best bet for making money. I'm in paleontology because I love it but I'm not planning on making a shitload
For you guys that live in bear, cougar, wild boar country:
