Hey /k/, just got back from a gun show where I picked up a 1943 blond Mosin in decent condition for $250, did I do good? Its still covered in cosmoline, what is the best way to remove it? Thanks
Are the carbine versions any good?
>>31366265
>buying a Mosin at all
You fucked up big time, throw it in the garbage and rethink your life
>>31366274
They're a lot more maneuverable and light but generally at least $150 more for one in similar condition to a full length one
Plan on buying a ARX100 FDE in the next few weeks. Am I making a mistake?
I don't get the hate. I'm looking for a non AR modern rifle and from just finger fucking it it's lot nicer feeling than the scar.
The ACR was nice but not interested in the shrubmaster version.
The Tavors are cool but not super crazy about the bullpup design.
Gunshop doesn't have a Bren 805.
>>31366230
>it's lot nicer feeling than the scar
Elaborate.
The entire firearm save the bcg and barrel are plastic. You're stuck with the shitty A2 style grip, the tuna hand guard is massive and proprietary. The stock length of pull is extremely short and puts your line of sight way too low for AR height optic mounts. The charging handle is too small and the controls are all stiff and cumbersome. Don't even get me started in those iron sights... or the fact you can't hit the side of a barn from inside one with this rifle.
I don't hate the gun, in fact I really do like it... because I like things that are exotic in a retarded kind of way. But what you see in this gun over the SCAR or even the budget CZ805 alternative I just don't get.
>>31366230
I've held a few and I like the way they feel, very light from what I remember. The irons looked alright but obviously cheap. The only part I dont like is the front end. If it was somehow removable I'd be willing to bet new hand guards would be all over the place after a few years.
>>31366230
The 805 is readily available online. Why not just ship it?
I've noticed a lot of threads about people wanting to innawoods or hunting crytids with other kommandos and scouts. A couple of us from Virginia set up a kik chat group for any VA anons looking to just hike around and carry funs. Or just join the group to talk funs and what not.
Just making this to help kommandos find eachother and get outside and friends. Other states should post here too.
Msg me on KiK - VAskout
Pic related me in VA with no bros

Central MD here
Are you guys allowed to hike with rifles down there?
>>31366212
Mostly everywhere. VA is a pretty K state
>>31366260
I have dreamed of being able to do that. What part of VA are you from?
should I fall for the "buy a .22 as your first gun" meme or just buy a 9mm?
pic somewhat related
Go for the 9mm. If you get a 22 it won't be long until you want to buy another gun. Plus the 9mm is much more practical for defense.
>>31365806
well.... what do you want the gun for?
>>31365828
shooting targets for fun and home defense i guess

So /k/, one of my friends got the idea to make a DIY weapon from a stick, part of a table saw, fishing line, and some pieces of cloth. How'd he do?
>>31365707
>someone has been playing worse fallout
But you know how a saw blade works right? It works by moving it, you need to have it spinning to really cut into anything. As it stands it is an irregularly edged piece of sheet metal
>>31365726
It wasn't my idea, it was my friend, had no part in it because I thought it was going to be much worse.

What's /k/ shooting today?
>>31365644
Shot my arisaka, le6920, henry .22, and my buddies kimber classic carry. Didn't think to take pics, though.
Been shooting this guy on and off all day.
>wake up around 1:30
>put on pants
>grab new to me .44 and a cylinder of ammo
>put on ears and outta back door
>fire off cylinder and go in
>eat breakkie
>have a beer
>shoot 43 more rounds
>play vidjya
>shoot off 14 more rounds
Now I'm having a beer and consiseeing if I want to shoot some more...

Nothing
Shore bombardment general. This is NOT a battleship thread. I repeat NOT a BB thread or naval armor thread.
It seems the USN has pretty much abandoned shore bombardment. AGS is a silly meme (shooting missiles out of a gun really? That's the worst of both worlds). Railguns don't exist, and even when they are eventually ready they will never have explosive/suppression power or endurance like big guns do. Zumwalt is obviously a MIC welfare program.
Big guns may or may not be obsolete for naval surface warfare, but they are still unsurpassed for blowing the hell out of a beach. How can we regain this capability?
>>31365629
>Railguns don't exist
I know what you meant, but the way you phrased this sounds retarded.
>>31365629
>they are still unsurpassed for blowing the hell out of a beach.
In what universe is this a necessary capability?
We have smart bombs now. We can just drop bombs on the enemy, rather than shooting lots of shells at where we think he might be.
In the past, naval gunfire was the only way of delivering munitions from sea to land. There have been some improvements since then.

I have both, carry 9mm for capacity. Last thing I wanna do is run out of ammo.

.45 Because at the end of the day it just punches bigger holes.

>For the first time in years, the Pentagon has disclosed data indicating the number of troops its deems overweight, raising big questions about the health, fitness and readiness of today's force.
>About 7.8 percent of the military — roughly one in every 13 troops — is clinically overweight, defined by a body mass-index greater than 25. This rate has crept upward since 2001, when it was just 1.6 percent, or one in 60, according to Defense Department data obtained by Military Times. And it's highest among women, blacks, Hispanics and older service members.

Height/weight standards don't take into account for BMI.
If they aren't combat arms, it doesn't matter that much.
The real problem is going to be with fatties crashing our health care system with no survivors.

Ever since I started shooting guns, back in July, I haven't been able to hear as well as I used to.
Did you wear ear protection like literally every safety manual that comes with a gun recommends?
