Everyone likes to say that this was what should've been adopted as the NATO standard intermediate round, but honestly, when comparing its size and ballistics to full size rifle rounds like .30-06 and .303 it seems more like them than it does to any intermediate cartridge. Why is it that this is considered an intermediate round when it's so massive?

The .280 was actually more accurate than the larger .30 rounds, so it could have worked as a universal cartridge so that assault rifles and machine guns could both using the same ammunition.

right now? i'd buy a sexy tactical rifle that caught my eye and would be likely to be name banned, fs2000 or something. then a cheap .50bmg, not vulcan cheap but around 2k. spend the rest on 30 and 40 round magazines and sell them for ten times as much as soon as another panic hits. think november worst case scenario.

so /k/, I've decided to quit my job. I was working around a fancy new version of asbestos called refracted ceramic fiber, and the other day I was almost blinded by sodium hydroxide and needed to go to the ER and an ophthalmologist. No job is worth lung cancer and blindness, no matter how good the pay.
I've decided to veer from my scheduled classes and sign up for a class to become an EMT at the local community college. In the meantime, I'm going to go get my PERC security card.
What's the job like, working security? What's the job outlook on becoming an armored car guard? Security general?

16kj is a lot of energy tho i think a knee in your guts would only deliver 2kj so it's like being kicked by a horse rather than a human. but survivable nevertheless if it is distributed properly.

Bad news gents.
My Remington 700 in .243 Win has herpes of the barrel.
Chunk of metal welded to the rifling, been scrubbing on it for a while now, hasn't came out. Should I try some special abrasive compound? Try to shoot it until it's worn down? Almost certainly because when I got the rifle when I was 16 I didn't clean it before shooting.
I guess I have the tools to re-barrel it, but if I did it would be in .223 Rem. Would I need to buy a new bolt for .223?? How much would that run me?
Furthermore, it's the ADL model (no detachable mag), short action, the shitty synthetic stock is warped and touching the barrel.
