What's the smallest projectile it takes to damage a submarine? (WW2 era and/or Modern submarines).
I'm aware a simple crack will cause the hull to be crushed by deep sea pressure, so lets assume this >500m/yards deep.
Also general submarine thread I guess.
>>31351812
500m deep, are you joking? Only specially designed deep sea submersibles can go that deep without being crushed by the pressure.
I'll assume the boat is on the surface, it all depends on whether the projectile is fired inside or outside of the boat
inside? A single shot from 9x19mm in the right place will do.
Outside? I'd say a 20mm autocannon would ruin what's left of the submarine crew members' lives...
>>31351891
You're aware I meant meters right?
And assume the crew is all inside and you're shooting/throwing/furiously shitting from outside
>>31351948
hence '100m/yards' because a yard is basically a meter
ITT we talk about swing
How important is swing from 1-10?
Which gun has the best swing?
Does the g36 compare to a 550 commando?
Haven't handled either of those but I always felt the old Colt CAR-15 carbines swing naturally.
>>31351881
Doesn't the barrel of a CAR-15 limit swing compared to a g36?
>>31351920
Why?
Why do you guys hate pistons on AR?
I mean, seems pretty easier to clean than direct systems.
Is it because it's not the original AR system?
Or is it for more technical reasons?
>>31351609
The bore length is not condusive to proper alignment of the shooters shoulder, thereby inducing an improper trajectory of the bullet.
>>31351609
>>31351609
Used to have a cmmg version. Over time I might have seen some increased wear in the buffer and at long range or precision competition it will underperform but it was reliable clean and functional so no worries my way before I moved and sold it
Hey /k/,
I'm not familiar at all with this board and hope you can help me.
I'm french and just today my old grandmother told me about a gun that her father would've picked in WW1. since i know nothing about guns and google didn't help, i was wondering what is this ? Havent seen any brand or serial number on it either ...
Thanks a lot !

Ugly ass pistol grip.
It was good until I saw the pistol grip.

>Wal Mart tier Burris red dot that will break due to the recoil
>Bubba'd pistol grip
>Overly short barrel that won't be long enough for all the powder in a 7.62x54r case to burn
>Clunky Mosin action
Why in the fuck is it so hard to find a basic 20 inch barreled AR like the one up top in pic related?
That's all I want: a regular ass, full size AR, and I can't find one at non retard-tier prices. Anybody have any advice?
I've thought about building one, but everything I see with a chrome barrel for an upper is like $600 and I know that's a bit much.
I just want my first AR, but don't want a fucking carbine.
I don't know what world you live in but $600 is DEFINITELY a fair price

My new glock sights are like this. Are they defective? Do you still line up the posts with a glock or do you focus on the Dot in the bucket

Do I get community service hours for this?

You tap them out, throw them in the trash and get something decent like Trijicon HD's or Dawson Precision fiber optics.
>>31351201
This. I really like my Trijicon HD's

How well would firearms work in an vacuum?
Lack of shockwaves means that all explosions are far less powerful. Yes, even nuclears ones.
Gyrojet?
>>31350778
They'd work, at least fr the first few rounds. Modern propellant contains it's own oxidizer.
However, any liquid lubricant used would melt off, and there would be issues with overheating because convection isn't very effective in a vacuum. Those issues can be solved with dry lubricants and radiators, respectively. There's also the issue of recoil, but that can be solved with counter-thrustrers on the operators EVA suit.
So, I liked that the firearms really took a backsteat in this movie. Unlike
>Twd
>Z Nation
>WWZ
But that was in 2009. Do you think if the movie was to be remade in 2017, tricked out ARs would see a bigger role?
Also, general Pokeclypse thread.

isn't that the point of a movie/book themed like it is themed? cannibalism and human depravity are real things. people will do bad things to you. that'S why we have guns.

OOOOKKKAAAYYY /k/ommandos so I've always wanted a Miami vice 80's style fun gun. I found a Cobray SWD m11 in 9mm yesterday and was wondering about quality. I know some MAC variants are terrible but I'm hearing pretty good things about the SWD's. This is a semi auto unfortunately. Any information on the Cobray M11 9mm?
>>31350678
Get a full fun, can go for 2.5k or 3k if you get lucky, 5k otherwise

>>31350705
I would absolutely love a full auto! I just don't have that kind of money:(
>>31350705
No way you can get an MG for that price, unless you know someone who is willing to sell at a loss. In today's inflated Internet market, think more like $7000+ for an automatic registered SWD MAC. To answer the OP, any of the old MAC variants are fine in semi. The SWD M11/Nine should serve you well. They're built very simply and very tough, and SWDs tend to hold their value. If you have any problems it's almost always the mag. After the registered machine gun versions, the next most desirable MACs are the open bolt versions, since they work exactly like their machine gun counterparts, except in semi automatic only.
Hey /k/ what do you thing will be the next really cheap milsurp bolt action rifle?
>>31350447
It's unlikely that there will be a "next one" at this point.
>>31350478
/thread
but seriously, the days of cheap milsurp are coming to an end.
>>31350447
I am pretty sure that we are done with rifles. I can imagine some surplus handguns still being discovered and released for cheap though
How are these rifles, planning on plinking and maybe hunting.
I can reload so ammo is not a problem
They are some of the finest milsurp rifles you can buy. Accurate, reliable and rugged. If you take ammo out of the equation there's no reason not to get one.
Absolutely top tier

An auto loading shot gun or a pump double barrel?
>>31350273
>pump double barrel.
Dont know much about the kgs and its rivals.
>>31350273
Semi-auto rifle. Preferably an AK, since that's the pattern I'm most familiar, comfortable, trained and efficient with. If the pump double barrel is a DP-12, then it would tickle my fancy just for the sake of it.

Hey /k/ I'm looking into buying my first rifle. I want something I can hunt/innawoods/survival with. Been looking at ar-10s, AK variants, FAL, SKS (meemz or just really amazing???). I've shot my fair share of an ar15, but I'd much rather prefer to have a .308/7.62 chambered rifle. Any advice on what I should get?
>>31349978
Buy the vz58 for maximum advantages
>7.62 barrier penetration
>chrome barrel
>milled receiver
>only 6.4 pounds
>bolt hold open
>can load with strippers or mag
>7.62 good for all targets, four legged or two. Durr and hog stand no chance
>sexy slav aesthetic
Sks
>>31349978
You are aware that the FAL/AR10 and VZ/AK/SKS are completely different kinds of .30 caliber right?
