Hey /k/ had an idea about a straight pull rifle in 9mm with a bolt inspired by the sten except vertical feeding and a manual action, obviously. One thing I can't seem to get passed is how would I lock the breech so I don't basically make a runaway full auto? Any ideas?

Nice quads. Straight pull bolt actions still tend to have a bolt with lugs that rotate into cutouts in the barrel. The difference is that instead of rotating the bolt directly with the bolt handle, you pull on the bolt handle which hits a cam to rotate it. Here's a video, explaining why they aren't made anymore:

The US Air Force said Friday it has grounded 10 of its F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, just over a month after they were declared "combat ready."
The decision affecting the most expensive weapons system ever was made "due to the discovery of peeling and crumbling insulation in avionics cooling lines inside the fuel tanks," the Air Force said in a statement, describing the action as a temporary pause in flight operations."
The faulty cooling lines affected a total of 57 aircraft, the statement said. Only 15 of those planes had been fielded with the remainder still on the production line and will be fixed there.
The plane's manufacturer, Lockheed Martin, has delivered 108 F-35As. The Air Force plans to buy 1,763 of the jets.

I love how everyone bitches and whines when a tiny thing like this pops up. You guys will shit all over the F-35 when a small technical problem crops up, but you all praise the F-16 for being the best plane around, when you fail to realize that shitbox of a plane crashed every 2 seconds when in inital testing and such.
When you go out of the box for a change and try to make something great lots of minor technical shit will go wrong. That doesn't mean the F-35 is a piece of trash.

Is .357sig enough for black bear?
I'm thinking of getting another pistol and want it for hiking. I've got a 9mm PPS for EDC and 229 for 9mm legion for a safe queen / range toy.
I'm wanting something that's small and light and comfy but with more power in case there's an animal and while there aren't a lot of bear around here, minimal chance of it being a concern, you do hear about the occasional one, and I go on trips where there are black bear.
Around here there's really only coyote and deer.
Revolvers, I've had a few, they're not comfy for me.
So how would .357sig perform? Glock best choice for thin light weather proof gun?
Should just get a 1911 instead?

I had one one a while back and prefer the 9mm size guns. 10mm fits in the .45acp frame and it's a little thick and heavy. Plus, you can't buy "real" 10mm at a gun store, or couldn't at the time. Maybe you can now, idk.

Sup /k/ I've been eyeballing two pocket pistols from the early 1900s in my local gun store. One is a Colt 1903 in .32 cap from the 20s or 30s. The other is a Mauser HSc in .380.The Mauser is in VG condition and the colt has a few scratches and looks quite a bit more worn
Which should I go with? Both are priced at 400. I think i like the Mauser quite a bit more. But if the colt has the potential to be more valuable I might buy that too.
I'm torn.
