New to guns, I only own a pistol and have never owned a rifle. I want to get an AR-15, but don't know where to start. Anyone have a preference or recommendation for a rifle that's under $1000?
research rifles and their functions and cartridges and their applications, then dont get an AR-15

grab one of these and a stripped lower and built it yourself for half the price.

What would you recommend?
babby's first cc
Feel like this was a damn good choice
>>31368336
Agreed.
>>31368336
It was a bad choice because you should have gotten the P938.
>>31368377
Shut up nigger.
>>31368336
If you like it and it feels good, then yeah you did a good job.
why do gas masks look so cool?
They just DO man.
Government spooks always get the best looking equipment
Correct The Record is looking for info
However, they have no spam protection, and no character limit.
I wonder what would happen if a bunch of concerned citizens sent them plausible sounding walls of text relating to salt weapons that a human would have to read over.
It's a mystery to me.

Without NATO support, could an EU military defend against a Russian invasion?
If russia disregards civilian casualitues then fuck no
>>31367994
>Could a conglomerate of cucked governments that don't even care about or support their own people and who have extremely low military spending and whose military leaders won't be able to decisively agree because no one wants to turn their own country into a wasteland of war where most of Western Europe doesn't care about Eastern Europe defend against a far larger nation with a will to bring Russia into it's next golden age as the only superpower in the world stands by and does absolutely nothing?
Rephrased it for ya.
>>31367994
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh, the answer is definitely no. Actually make it a "fuck no".
Let's hear it /k/, if you were to use one of these mystical, weeaboo weapons which would you use?
>inb4 nermal fag japoon swordds suk xddddd
I would go the extra length and choose the Zanbato.

Get a gun.
A claymore.
It's time again for "Guess the Ammo!"
I shot three paper plates. You are guessing, from left to right, which plate was shot by which cartridge.
For example you could guess
>22mag, 22lr, 22short
Which means 22mag is your guess for plate 1, 22lr is what you think plate 2 was shot with and your guess for the right plate is 22 short. I'll tell you how many out of three you got correct.
Incoming close up shots
Left plate

What purpose does the MiG-29 (and its various derivatives) serve when the Su-27 (and its various derivatives) are better in pretty much any way?
>>31367707
Cheap close range interceptor
>>31367707
The MIG-29 costs literally half as much. It's like the F-15 vs F-16
>>31367973
What makes it so much cheaper?
/k/, I have an opportunity to pick up an SKS, but I don't know enough about them to tell if it's worth the purchase.
The guy wants 450.

Sitting by a fire drinking by myself. Anyone want to join me? I have plenty of beer and whiskey and guns. I am in 914 NY. Come on by.
You know, this is exactly how kids end up on milk cartons.
I'll bring my special brownies.

How did you manage to get the fire to burn sideways? You some kind of wizard?
Question for /k/
What is the MOST secure storage option for long guns that ISN'T a safe
I live on the 10th floor of an apartment building and don't have the room for a safe, nor the ability to move one in without a lot of hassle
I'm considering a pelican case with two Abus 82 locks for travel, and a single lock with a steel cable run through to secure the firearm to something fixed to the building
Alternatives? Ideas?
>>31367623
Sufficient lube and a loose asshole should be all the long storage you need
Under your bed. Wrapped in an old t-shirt or pillow case if you've got children about for added security.
>>31367623
Landmines, put landmines everywhere in your apartment, rig pipe-bombs to go off if someone tampers with your gun cases, little things only you would know to disarm before moving them or opening the case.
Why wouldn't you put back up sights on a Glock with a red dot? Seems extremely stupid to me, like the owner doesn't know what he's doing.
>>31367504
Well, you realistically are only going to shoot around 25yards, 50 max, so sights are //not// that important in the grand scheme of things, if your dot dies you just get out or you point shoot.
I don't even use dot's and i know this.
who the fuck puts a non serial matching factory threaded barrel on a glock anyway? disgusting
The BUIS should be co-witnessed for failure but also for finding the dot faster. As you bring the gun up you're looking for irons first then the red dot. A pistol is unlike a rifle in that your head will not be perfectly behind the dot. Without irons you end up rolling the gun around trying to find the dot and it is much slower. Anyone without irons has no idea what they are doing.
I have not shot an ALG mount, yet. That is one major downside to it, though. I really want to shoot one before buying.
The mutant dinosaur could withstand fire from a GE M134 Minigun and even an indirect hit from an AT4 rocket launcher.
Yes, they could.
Ballistas, Scorpios and Bolas launchers, and nets.
Like any animal it can be herded, cornered, and eventually killed.
Didn't Hannibal use elephants against Rome and get rekt? The I-rex is basically just a bigger elephant. A trebuchet is all you would need to take it down.
>>31367505
Using a Trebuchet to kill a moving target doesn't sound remotely likely.
A Scorpio sounds possible, but if the monster can withstand 7.62 NATO, I don't see why a Scorpio would harm it.
>trying to explain to my fudd grandpa how 10mm is more powerful than .45
>take him to the range and have him shoot both, even brought the good 10mm ammo not the pussy shit
>"w-well if you get hit by a .45 it sure is gonna hurt! nice 10mm son but I'll stick with my .45!"
>>31367416
Explain that 10mm can also fire 230gr ammo, with more velocity and muzzle energy than a 230gr .45acp.
> This means in fudd talk "it shoots 230gr faster and wit more umph gramps. Which means it puts a bigger hurtin awn a bad guy."
or, you know, just be respectful of the old man since it's not that important. OP is a fag for having to one-up his gramps on the internet.

ITT: Things you should always ask/check for before purchasing a gun
>"Will these rounds penetrate a school bus?"

Is this rifle good for hunting deer in close quarters? Say, in an abandoned warehouse?
Will this rifle accept my 45mm cop killer rounds?
Where exactly do I need to drill the third hole on the receiver?
