Banning hollow points in warfare seems kind of silly, if you ask me. Am I just missing something? I was always under the impression that the purpose of hollow point was to prevent over penetration, not cause suffering.

Sup /k/. Long story short I know a guy who is just now getting into guns. Problem is that he liked weed a bit in college and now that he's getting out he's gonna try and stay clean. He's curious about the time frame of "recent use" for pot that would disqualify him from purchasing a gun. The statues are murky as fuck and its not exactly clear. He was habitual for a year; I know that much. Would there be a difference if it was a one time experimentation?
TL/DR: how long should my friend stay clean to cover his ass if he wants to buy a gun and later wants to get a job with a security clearance if he doesn't want to lie on the form?

So i've been playing a lot of BF1 recently. I already knew about WW1 beforehand but I was always curious about Austria-Hungary.
My question is what was the state of the military going in to WW1?
I've heard people say they were abysmally short on artillery and machineguns while others say they were fairly well equipped but had shit leadership (this is easy to see)
Did the army ever improve?

What's /k/'s take on the Hellcat pack? It's an ALICE pack and frame with MOLLE straps, kidney pad, and sleep system carrier.
It seems like a good budget setup, but it's hard to find matching colors, which could be fixed with some green dye.

Is it safe to say that the M2 Carbine can be considered an assault rifle? Similarly, its ammunition the .30 carbine is crossing the line between pistol round to intermediate round.

So I was curious. Anyone know the laws for guns on boats? Civilian, specifically.
Is it some special international law thing? Are Americans under the umbrella of their own laws for having armed civilian boats?
Because I know American citizens can own cannons. You don't need a license or a permit for a muzzle loading one, but you do need paperwork and permits and license for breech loading cannons. And the propellant is illegal.
But what about for naval guns? Could a civilian with their own boat legally mount big barrels and lug around big shells?
