Based Czech République government wants all of their citizens to arm themselves to fight the Muslim threat.
Based Czechs
Can someone please explain to me why a US based newspaper is so butthurt about a country exercising their right to bear arms?
Both my parents are from the Czech republic. Wtf I wanna move there to protect the fatherland and kill some savages!

EDC Thread
>I'm on /k/ because I love to shoot, either at the range or innawoods for whatever's in season. I don't know why janitors didn't start deleting these autistic threads when they first came out. Now l have to look at them every other day and it makes me fucking cringe. I cringe just thinking about what you fatfuck mouthbreathers must look like. Hell, at least I'll know to look away if I hear somebody plodding down the street, nearly out of breath and jingling loud enough to mask the sound of the icecream truck they're chasing. What the fuck do the things you and your retarded EDC buttbuddies have to do with weapons? Ok, sure you have a gun and a knife. Well whoopdee doo and good for you. Why do you have to post the rest of the nonsense you carry around? Do you need some kind of validation? Is that what this pathetic shit is all about? You will never need any of that shit. Never. MAYBE this shit could be acceptable if it was stuff you carry innawoods, but it's not. The most you will ever do with all this shit you carry is take it into a Sweet Frog while you fill up a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket full of frozen lard. You guys are all pathetic and I pity the weak mothers and fathers who raised you. Get a fucking life.

/K/nife general #67, carbon steel edition. Previous: >>32534021.
I like learning about blade steels and I realized I don't know jack about carbon steels, so we're having a carbon steel edition. Learn me about common ones and how they compare to stainless, semi-stainless, or supersteels.
OP's side note: apologies if pic res is shit, I'm a mobilefag. Also recommend me small fixed blades that are made of carbon or decent stainless/semi-stainless/supersteels for EDC.
Someone last thread asked me about the Svord bowies and their handles. I honestly think that they are pretty cosy, the only thing that I did was sand them down a little.

/Operator General/ is focused on the discussion of training methodologies, tactical doctrines (individual/team), and application of equipment (weapons, gear, comms).
Post targets for analysis, shitpost about TOB/C-clamping, and debate mission-specific gear requirements.
Seeing as this is a new /general/, constructive input regarding the direction and purpose of /OG/ is welcome.
Some instructional primers that sample appropriate topics can be found below. As with anything on the www, nothing should be taken as authoritative. This is a place for open exploration and discussion.

Wanted to discuss ways to avoid getting shot, ie Movement, Armor, and Cover.
Infant Tree Man on Movement:
>The 3-5 Second Rush
>Aptly named, the 3-5 sec rush is done when one needs to gain ground and is under fire, or is trying to retreat under fire. issues I have with the 3-5SR is that, as so eloquently written in Poole's books, it takes roughly 3 second for the human eye to reacquire a moving target and attempt to engage. Therefore, keeping the rush at maximum three seconds, unless cover permits farther, is ideal.
>We were taught a short phrase "I'm up, they see me, I'm down". Thats alright, but preferably you just focus on not being exposed and hitting that next piece of cover. Take into account things like microterrain (small divot or crater in the ground that can enable just enough cover against rounds, or things like mounds and such) and volume of fire against you. You probably shouldnt rush if the rounds are impacting right on you.
>Cover
taken from:
http://www.tactical-life.com/combat-handguns/cover-versus-concealment/
Concealment is exactly what it sounds like. Concealment “conceals” you from the view of the bad guy. Any object that prevents the enemy from seeing you is technically concealment. A thick bush could be concealment. For that matter, a closed set of window blinds also qualifies. The problem arises when the good guys confuse concealment, a.k.a. not being seen, with cover.
Cover is any material that can reasonably be expected to stop the travel of a bullet fired from small arms such as handguns, shotguns, and rifles. Cover will consist of hardened, thick, bulky material and manmade structures.
Typically in the military, cover is constructed by soldiers who fill hundreds of sandbags and stack them several layers thick. Sand, dirt, gravel etc. are excellent materials for bunker building. In the civilian world, brick and mortar, cinder blocks filled with poured concrete and heavy wooden timbers are all considered good cover.

>Armor
The two most common types of plates available today are either Steel or Ceramic.
Standard weights are typically ~7lbs per plate, about 15lbs per pair. Lightweight plates can be found but will generally cost more.
Important features to consider are plate curvatures and coatings. AR500 plates will require an anti-spall coating. Both types of plates benefit from being curved. Triple-Curve seems to be rather comfortable. Swimmers Cut plates will also aid in mobility (at the expense of surface area), followed by shooters cut and then SAPI cuts.

Hey /k/, just bought an SLR104FR.
I bought 7n6 for it, and my question involves cleaning. For my Mauser and Mosin, after shooting corrosive ammo, I just pour boiling water down the barrel and over the parts, then clean like normal. Is the procedure the same for semi-autos? I know I have to clean the gas tube and whatnot but does chrome lining change the procedure at all?
>>32557726
Keep doing what you're doing. If you're worried about it then shoot some wd-40 down the tube and around the fiddly bits, let it drip dry then use a real lubrication like you normally would.
>>32557726
Just do what you're usually doing. The only chrome lined part of the 104FR to my knowledge is the barrel. I have an SGL31 and I spray everything down with boiling water mixed with some ballistol, dry then clean as normal.
And technically, you don't have to clean the gas tube as it doesn't really affect the function of the gun if it is rusted, but you should anyways because it's a $1,000 gun.
>>32557726
Hot, soapy water down the gas tube and barrel along with a cleaning around the bolt, particularly the bolt face. That's all you need.

Who's pumped for the recent resurgence of Vietnam related vidya? I sure as fuck am. It's been 10 damn years since that trend came and went all too fast if you ask me, and I have the BIGGEST boner for 60s/70s weaponry right now and I don't really know why. Since we're probably never going to get any decent milsurp from that era this is the closest I'll be able to get at least.
Don't have the rising storm 2 beta right now, but I'm playing Born To Kill, an insurgency mod. It's pretty good. A few autismal complaints though.

Let's face it if you could afford a Colt Python you could afford not to go to fucking Vietnam
Love a game where I can shoot a gun I own.
fucking battlefield vietnam was great, but battlefield 2 killed it prematurely.
also, can't say it matters to me anymore since i don't play games now.
>>32551558
That game made the Smith and Wesson Model 19 even more desirable to me than the Colt Python.

Just like fury but unlike star wars it is actually set in the real world.
>>32549514
How often does the Republic use its star destroyers to conduct planetary bombardments? The Republic's logistics system seemed to be uber broked when it came to aerial doctrine, with lots of battles happening with non-existent air support which makes you sort of wonder how they manage to ship clone battalions anywhere if they don't have escorts attached to their transportation?
One thing that always struck me as odd in general in Star Wars is the lack of dedicated planetary fighters. X/Y/Z wings and TIEs are all relatively slow when it comes to engagements in-atmosphere, which would make aerodynamic fighters capable of going mach speeds a good idea for major worlds like Coruscant where you need something that can absolutely BTFO any space fighter on its own turf.
>>32549643
>TIEs are all relatively slow when it comes to engagements in-atmosphere
That is because you watch the movies.
The maximum speed in atmosphere is 1200km/ph for a TIE fighter which translates to Mach 10.
SR-71 Blackbird max speed is around mach 3.
What was your favorite class and individual ship?
It may be cliche, but I'll have to go with Iowa class/USS Missouri.
Neat video of the Tirpitz being launched:

Nelson class because it's so brutal and uncompromising, 16" guns in three turrets, all forward because fuck running away.

Unless if I'm missing something, wouldn't you at least have to be at an angle to fire all of them at a single target?
