I was shooting with some friends and had my S&W 29-3 with me to shoot as well. I took it out and one of my friends just goes, "this gun right here is just made for killing people." I made several sensible arguments about hunting with it and why it would make a poor combat handgun and he just kept repeating, "look at this thing! I mean, look at it! I would choose a Beretta over a Sig ANY day of the week. And I say that having owned many Sigs.

But that said, you should get an H&K USP instead.

Lever action is more complicated/expensive, and tubular magazines + spitzer bullets is a potential problem.

They are not semi auto because all of the movement associated with locking and unlocking the action moves the barrel slightly and takes away accuracy. The reason you don't see lever action is because of a multitude of reasons the first one that comes to mind is; lever actions are gay. also cause you cant use pointed bullets, can't cycle the gun prone etc.

straight pull is too complicated

accurate semi autos are too expensive

lever action you can't cycle prone and can't use spitzer cartridges

pump action makes you shift the gun too much in between shots

break action has the same problem as pump action as well as the issue of having limited capacity and slow follow up shots

bolt action everyone is familiar with, relatively cheap, easily accurized, acceptably fast, and can handle spitzers

You already were in the infantry field. When you get a contract in the marines it for the MOS field, not the specific job. Example, I shipped as a 1800. I wanted tanks (1812) but got stuck in Tracks (1833) because I had a class two swim qual in boot camp.

Your not contact 0321, you just gonna ship as 0300 and the MOS gods will decided when you get to the big split at ITB.
