What do you think of the Vepr 12 with SVD furniture (made to work with Vepr)?

Looks good?

Would it work good though??

I think it'd be like the vepr54rs people do this to.
It'd look vaguely svd-ish at best.

Does the PISTOL GRIP on the SVD FURNITURE look, too straight up and down, not swept back enough?

I don't have too much issue with mine. Unless you're real anal about your grip angle, and shit, you won't care.

You don't think the SVD grip angle in the OP is severe??
>>
>>32695260
I'm mostly indifferent to the angle. If anything, it's a bit too strange on the web of the thump. Like it could be cut in a little more.

Probably be best to keep a longer barrel, and have a wrap back supressor. If they do that in 12 gauge.

>Will Vepr rifle furniture fit on a Vepr shotgun?
RPK furniture might. As far as I can see with a ruler and the naked eye, it seems identical.
I am 99% sure that vepr sporters have a special piece pinned to their barrels behind the gas block that their stock screws into.

>As far as I can see with a ruler and the naked eye, it seems identical
It is, except the rear lug on the lower handguard.
The Vepr has a smaller lug than the RPK.
>plum RPK handguard on the left, Vepr on the right
>>
>>32696406
>>32697365
So RPK furniture might work on the Vepr 12, but Vepr rifle furniture (which should have more in common with the Vepr 12) does not? That don't make no sense.

Also >>32695666
Vepr is making the Vintorez domestically in russia, so you could get the furniture possibly from that for this project.
>>
>>32698280
>That don't make no sense.
The vepr sporter stuff attaches from a single screw on the bottom IIRC, to a special attachment on the barrel.
If that's not there, as in the case of the vepr12, then it has nothing to secure to unless you can come up with some way to rig it in place.
But then you'd have to cut off and destroy the stuff that holds the rpk furniture on most likely or it'd look odd.
>>
>>32699484
Can't you just alter the furniture instead?
>>
>>32700177
I suppose you could, but it'd be quite the hack job by the time it'd fit.
Plus, IDK what you're going to do about the gas tube/furniture on it.
Not sure if you could buy a vepr sporter gas tube and put it on the vepr12 or if it'd be a different size. (not going to find one without buying another complete rifle to steal it from anyway)
>>
>>32701703
>tldr:
>just buy wood rpk furniture and/or give up your dream
It'd be quite the hack job by the time it'd fit. That is, the vepr itself would be a hackjob too.
For one thing, the lower handguard retainer has to go to fit vepr sporter furniture unless you slice and dice a lot of wood.
And the gas tube of a normal vepr won't fit, so you'd actually have to just destroy the original a bit to even have a chance. You'd have to dremel off the parts that hold the furniture on it at minimum.

Having a vepr12 myself, you've taken pics of all the areas I was most curious about on the wood stocked model, which I think looks really good btw.
Maybe just wondering how the drum works and where you got it?
>>
So, will it fit?

Or maybe better to ask, WHAT WILL FIT?
>>
How do you pronounce Vepr?
VEP-ER? VEE-PER? VIPPER?
>>
>>32703768
I think it's supposed to be pronounced as "Vep-er"
>>
>>32703191
>So, will it fit?
Short answer? No. The vepr shotgun is a very different animal from the sporter rifles.
At least if you don't want to permanently wreck the handguard retainers, both for the bottom and upper handguards. You'd have to pretty much dremel & pry them off carefully, plus find something to screw the wood handguard into, similar to the sporters. And good luck making that furniture lug stay put unless it's done in a very competent way... because the vepr shotgun action is especially violent because it's so overgassed with full brass loads. They don't just rivet things together like normal aks, there's long and thick welds holding parts like the receiver and front trunion together. They're never coming apart.
>>32703191
>Or maybe better to ask, WHAT WILL FIT?
You could probably swap a wood butt stock from a vepr to a vepr12 with the same stock style if you liked the wood grain on one over the other. That's probably all that would be swappable between them.
>>
for fucks sake, just buy an svd.
>>
>>32704004
Where? They can't be imported, and there are no parts that have been imported, as far as I am aware of. Only ones available are the limited number of TIGRs that are being passed around for at least $3,500

Personally, except for the actual military config imports & ndm-86 that look like pic related, I think the tigrs are less desirable than semi auto 54r alternatives that already exist and can be bought. But I know a lot of people will disagree, some people just have an svd fetish beyond my understanding, and sometimes rarity alone makes something more desirable to people.
>>32704148
>But that's what the OP is talking about...
I was assuming the full set so it wouldn't be an odd mismatch(although so far so good with the vepr wood stock looking ok), so I'd think so but can't confirm 100%.

my 5s and 8 work fine. I guess I can't speak for larger 10's or 12's. But imported vepr brand mags "should" work perfectly regardless.
5s make the gun feel the most balanced and are all I normally use.

I have heard bad things about reliability after 8 rounds. But I haven't heard much to begin with, and this was just on the internet.

That's the problem with the internet. 1000 people have flawless experiences, and the one or two angry guys who don't like it post it in every single forum and start dumb rumors, making it look like it's a wide-spread problem.
So you never really know for sure, you just have to go off is anecdotal evidence that can to be swayed far into the negative sometimes.
I own the king rifle of that happening, a psl.

Wouldn't it make the most sense to put PSL furniture on the Vepr, since they're both RPK derived??
>>
>>32712178
I think most veprfags are chasing an svd-ish look anyway. And you'd probably just have to make an entirely new furniture design to fit the vepr furniture points and mimic(probably somewhat poorly like the svd stocks). But like I said, most are chasing the svd looks so a psl clone set is unlikely to ever hit market IMO.

I personally just tire of the thought of having every single rifle be exactly the same. I prefer ARs, but I was on the side of RIFLE IS FINE.

Now that I think I could maybe do an OTB suppressor on a 12 gauge Vepr if HPA passes (no restrictions no more), I could do it up like a VSS concisely if also a bit of a caricature. Like a VSS on roids.

With appropriate barrel (but probably smooth), I could have super-heavy-subsonic-slugs sauntering on down accurately enough within 300m. Real quiet like too.
