As an amateur artist with Adobe AI, how do I make vaporwave art for my songs?
>>2701955
Don't
Go do something productive with your time
Can you tell me how to make vaporwave songs to go along with my vaporwave art?
Take it seriously. I can't tell you how much it pisses me off to see minimal effort treated as the norm. Vaporwave art can be beautiful, but it can also be terrible. Usually, terrible art is the result of a person who is doing it because they think it's easy. It's not.
I'm sure you can see the difference between this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/VaporwaveArt/comments/52ra5g/doggo_surfs_the_vaporwave/
And this:

The former represents low-effort shit. The latter, something made by a person with a desire to make pleasing art.
There's a bunch of stuff here:

How much detail is needed before you stop calling it a sketch?
>>2701846
>How much detail
It's not about the detail itself, it's about the perception of said detail. If you are drawing and don't think it's complete work, and you think it's just a rough draft of what is to come, then it's a sketch in your eyes; which is what art is all about, subjectivity and perception.
In other words: You'll never make it.

I do love seeing good sketches but why
do people never finish them?

Wrap the end of a ball point pen in foil after taking out the nib and ink. Secure with take if need be. I found it works really well if you're looking for something sturdy to draw with. Need to smoothen out the foil though. Takes like 1 minute to make at no cost too.
>A creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or author – in other words, anyone producing works of art – needs to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living.
What do you think of this?
>>2701324
Having 1000 die-hard fans is difficult though, especially on the internet where attention you get is very ephemeral and after a year or two you might be old news.
Also having each of them spend 100$ per annum is quite a lot. It's more than $8/month.
Thinking in terms of Patreon, you'd have to be in the first 150 best creators. Even people in the rear are quite profilic and have been there for years.
Moreover, not every niche will be big enough for you to fill. Even dedicated and very long lasting communities, like the Quake 3 Arena/Quake Live community, are actually around 500 people actively watching streams and less than that donating to tournaments or subscribing $5 for streams.
Also, see at Mohrbacher: he gets like 300 people on Patreon and supplements it with sales of his $10 prints. Do you think he has 1000 people that will be dedicated to him for the next 5-10 years? Do you think his fanbase will grow if he will still speciallize in angels only?
It's a nice theory in OP, but it's kinda more difficult than "simply have 1000 true fans".
On the other hand there are people like Mark Carder that price their oil paintings between $30 000 - $75 000, but he is a guy who did, among others, portrait of George W. Bush when he was still a president...

I don't want true fans. True fans are the kind of creep who will stalk you, send you semen letters and dry hump you in public. Then they are too autistic to survive on their own and you end up having to take care of them.
Lucky, most people care about art, not artists, so they will split their 100.
Also, instead of 100,000 income, 20,000 is a better target.
People spending $20-30/year on you is actually realistic.
ITT: post videos that inspired or motivated you.
I'll start. This Feng video always helps me realize how much effort I should be putting in to art.

>practice one month 8 hours every day
>barely get any better
Where are my promised gains? You said if I put in the time I could become good at this. I don't expect the world after a single month but my gains are abysmal. I obviously don't have the talent to practice smart as this is what obviously counts after time didn't do shit.
post your work?
I can sell you "the spark" for $450.00 paypal, since you obviously don't have it.
Talent is real.
>Hambrick spent weeks tracking down data for P.G.A. tour stats and running analyses to determine how the pros reached their level of success. The work continued when he returned to Atlanta, and even went on into the first years of his professorship at Michigan State University. But the analyses weren’t turning out quite as expected—training was not explaining nearly as much as it should. So, while the work languished in unpublished state, Hambrick began to focus more and more on the other possible components of expert accomplishment. Of course, training was important—but how important? “I started to ask, Well, wait a second, can these strong claims about the primacy of practice actually hold up—is there the evidence to back it up?”
>The more he researched, the more he concluded that the answer was no. No matter how much he had practiced as a teen-ager, he would never have reached the P.G.A. tour. Of course, he’d known that all along, on some level—after all, he quit golf. People do have natural ceilings to their talent in any given area, and after a certain point their success arose from things other than deliberate practice.
For those of us who are better than those trash-tier artists in the Absolute Beginner Thread but don't want to clutter the Beginner Thread with our shit.

/ic/, what are your biggest art related pet peeves?
>someone just copies a photograph
>"oh wow such gud o my so amazing"
Literally, every fucking time.
What's even worse is when they label it as an illustration because they may have done one slightly more creative thing, like set up the scene instead of using pleb stock art or something.
That there is literally no way you can prove you're good at art except by being a pro already.
Mine is when autists bitch and moan incessantly about other artists, gossiping and shit-talking like teenaged girls.
>>2693421
Fuck you buddy. We're all just here to have a good time.
Why do 99% of all artists only stick to one style? Seems rather boring to me.
Are they scared of venturing outside their comfort zone?
>>2701384
Maybe they get afraid of the phrase, "jack of all trades, master of none" and would rather pile all their effort into one rather than diversify.
>>2701384

FAQ:
Something's broken, what do I do?
>The site is currently in the alpha phase of development and is being built around us as we compete so sometimes things go wrong. If you ever need any help send me a tweet @LavaFlake or shoot me an email [email protected].
What do we draw?
>Whatever you want. At this point there's no required topic so draw your heart out. Make sure you submit at least a half hour of work or you may get a low effort warning.
What's a low effort warning?
>The goal is to get people to draw every day by turning it into a competition. The low effort warning system is to prevent people from posting last minute, quick sketches when they're feeling lazy. If you receive a warning and it happens again within a month you'll be eliminated.
>This rule has been the cause of a lot of concern amongst newer artists so let me reiterate: this system is to police low effort content and has nothing to do with the quality of the work. New artists are more than welcome.
What happens if I'm eliminated?
>A new Last Artist Standing challenge starts every week. If you get eliminated then get it together and rejoin next week.
How can there be a new Last Artist Standing challenge every week?
>This is a way to let new artists join in and to allow re-entry for the eliminated. Every week a new challenge is started. If you joined on week 1 and make it to week 2 then your daily submission counts for both the first and second Last Artist Standing. If you get eliminated then you're eliminated from both challenges and you'll be able to rejoin next week.
Will I have an advantage if I join later in the week?
>The winner of a Last Artist Standing will be the artist with the longest streak. If you join on day 1 and last until day 85 then you'll have a streak of 85. If there's only one person left in the challenge when you're eliminated but they joined on Day 7 then they'll need to continue on for another week. If they're eliminated before then, you win.

What are good oil color pallets for painting skin tones? Looking into it and wondering what you guys recommend.
>>2701638
The Zorn palette is one of the most famous and simplest. Honestly though if you have some experience in color mixing you can get flesh tones out of pretty much any balanced palette. Also worth noting that "flesh" is not a specific color but is largely dependent on the environment surrounding, and furthermore color so as long as you keep things consistent you can make almost any color look like skin.
Traditionally, green earth for underpainting, earths and ochres and lead white for modeling, vermillion for rosy life
>>2701644
Was thinking about going Zorn pallette since I'm mostly just looking for 3 primaries, white and maybe an earth tone. I just don't want to buy 3 colors that don't go together(Makes mixing hard than what it normally is)
How do you deal with sucking?
How do you keep pushing forward during your first year, even though everything you produce is total dogshit?
I got excited learning perspective, form, all that shit, and every time a new fundamental "clicked" in my head it gave me motivation to practice said fundamental several dozen times. But now I'm in this shitty spot where I just have to "keep drawing" until my stupid fucking hand catches up. Everything I draw looks horrible to me and makes me want to quit.
>>2699679
pic related is more than enough personally, this is something I want and would regret years down the line if I gave up, so Just Keep Practicing.
maybe you are being to hard on yourself
post your work, even if you think it's bad perhaps you could find new places to improve
>>2699679
The product is never going to be the motivator. Especially not your own. That's the way filthy consumers think. You need to fall in love with the feeling that learning gives you. Like they are sisters, and the product is really hot, 10/10 bombshell, but the learning sister is cute and the one who connects with you on a deep emotional level.
My digital work and my traditional work are completely different. They're also separate-I have a professional, traditional artsite based on me and my real name, while my online stuff/digital work is under another name and is kept separate.
Keeping it up is killing me but I don't want some of the negatives from my digital penname associated with my "real me". I can't focus on one or the other because they both mean something to me. And neither provides any income.
Am I being crazy or does anyone else run into the same shit?
>>2701381
You can always just delete fucking everything and start anew. Pretty common practice among digital artist lately.
>>2701381
Keeping up several different distinct styles is a pretty skill though?
> I don't want some of the negatives from my digital penname associated with my "real me"
Elaborate, please.
