/ic/, what are your biggest art related pet peeves?

>someone just copies a photograph
>"oh wow such gud o my so amazing"

Literally, every fucking time.
What's even worse is when they label it as an illustration because they may have done one slightly more creative thing, like set up the scene instead of using pleb stock art or something.
>>
That there is literally no way you can prove you're good at art except by being a pro already.

Mine is when autists bitch and moan incessantly about other artists, gossiping and shit-talking like teenaged girls.

Man this weeaboo hubclub decided to hold an art contest last month, the theme was "fan art".
99% of the entries submitted were literally copied off the first few images of popular anime on google images lol (a couple were traced too). The way these fags were defending the copied artwork and how "original" they are was priceless.

I hate this more than anything else, I much prefer being in the proper flow of things. I either have to do warmups or construction for everything and it just ruins my mood. It's mainly faces. I think I need to just draw a million faces till it solidifies in my mind. Also not my art.

I doubt anyone else here has this feel:
it's drawing, being a serious art student and very often being satisfied with your results - but never having that inside impulse to draw something, even if I know I'll probably like it in the end.
Being able to go on forever before wanting to touch a pencil. Technical skill, but seemingly no creativity - I just don't ever doodle something random.
Combine that with a generic lack of discipline to study the finer workings of human anatomy and it's a classic recipe for wasted potential.

Normies putting their sweaty filthy fingers/thumbs on my graphite drawings. And they always hold my sketchbook like it's a goddamned Gameboy. How can you not understand that graphite smudges?!
I never show my stuff to anyone but close friends anymore, but the very memory of some pleb exclaiming "Oh, i love this part" only to point their finger directly on the paper surface and ruining it gives me fucking 'nam flashbacks.

Also, though i think this has been mentioned before, but non-artists with shit taste sets my rage ablaze like no other. And i mean the kind of shit taste that indicates someone can't tell the difference between the worst Chris Hart animu drawing and Kim Jung Gi's art (just to give an example, you get the point).

>tfw I relied so much on drawing from references that I can't draw for shit on my own
>never traced so I never thought this would be a problem
>only improved my actual skill by a very small amount, however, I hugely improved my photo-copying skills
But being good at copying photos will not really benefit me that much in the long run.

Anyway, my pet peeve would be when I accidentally smudge the pencil lines on my paper with the side of my hand whilst drawing. I've seen people position another layer of paper to avoid this, though I'm too lazy to do so.

God, this so much. I cringe every time. If I asked them for critique, they probably wouldn't know how, or give the most unneeded of crits because they don't know what they're talking about.

Having to lie about myself on job interviews when they ask about my interests. Usually, answering anything but "jogging and watching american idol on friday nights with the family" warrants a lot of suspicious questions. So i awkwardly have to explain how aware i am that i can't ever make a living out art and only keep it as a hobby.

But jokes on them now, i get paid more drawing spongebob porn on Tumblr than as a cashier at their fucking store.

Are you happy though?
>>
>>2697145
No, but way less suicidal. Would draw any form of degenerative fetish porn for strangers on the internet in exchange for never having to set my foot in retail again.

Will caring about other people make you better?

No?

Then stop.

*than

With the first girl, I actually wanted some competition to help me to strive better. While I am doing my best, I hoped for an extra push.

Got to "git gud or else there is no future."

Fucking this. It's really bad if I'm using an older sketchbook because my other one ran out of paper.

> Gee anon I really like the uhh....aura of your work! it's really creative.

I can't even into loomis or bridgman - Why is it so hard to get critiques at low level? Trying to git gud but I think even the books are out of my reach

I feel for you.

Sadly, art became fucking complicated after 1900 with wildly different goals the artists could have and the public school system taking over part of the education.

Wait, what kind of classes outside college did you take? I hope it wasn't drawing humans. The only think you really can do as a beginner is very basic stuff which is mostly centered around mastering tools and seeing with your eyes.

if you're motivation comes from others, you're doing art wrong

make your own ink and paper, otherwise gtfo of inktober

that's why you ask 50% from beginning

knowing they payed half of it will drop the changes for clients to do that for you, and if they still do, you atleast got half of the payment

I took every class I could relating to drawing. Foundation Drawing 1 and 2. Perspective Drawing and, Life Drawing (models)
All the foundation drawing classes ended up being were just a crash course in using different materials like conte crayon, charcoal and ink (brush). Pencil was pretty much forbidden.

I know this guy in real life. Saw this video posted here a year ago and was shocked. Had no idea his parental abuse had gone viral on the Internet. He's doing great now though, living on his own in Oregon far away from his mom.
