Post and share inspo. This board needs more variety as opposed to the usual "loomis" and porn
Even using the loomis method, when I place my eyes, one always ends up being slightly bigger/cockeyed/misplaced even with construction/guidelines, especially with 3/4 angles/etc. What the hell can I do?

-draw more often
-when you do draw, draw lighter, erase, draw again at the right place.
-learn vilppu or brideman.
-learn to measure

* I mean learn from other teachers too, don't go through all the loomis and then go through all of bridgeman
look at how other artists solve this problem
So I saw this thread yesterday where OP was talking about this Permanoobs challenge and I thought it would be a really cool exercise for /ic/ as well. At least I wanna do it but I don't feel like registering at Permanoobs.
Step 1: Design 3 to 5 characters, theme and everything is up to you. Doesn't have to be tight drawings or finished paintings or anything. Just something simple and readable.
Step 2: Do composition thumbnails for an illustration involving those characters in 1 scene, until you have something you are happy with.
Step 3: Draw the final image.

Is there a deadline?
>>2695888
Cool idea anon think i will do it for Inktober.

No. Work at your own pace for however long this thread will be around.
Hey /ic/, I've always wondered how artists were about to support themselves financially while creating art like manga artists and the like, before or after they made money from art. My question to you guys is how do you support yourself financially while you practice/create art? A job? What kind? Does it provide enough to get all the materials you need to create?
> I'm working a full time job at an oil changing service center that pays decent enough to pay rent($200 a month, live in a house with friends), $315 for car payment+insurance, $40 for cellphone, $55 for medical, and for gas+food for the month plus extra to save or spend on misc needs($50 into saving taken directly from each paycheck before). If you have any advice to share to fellow /ic/ comrades and lurkers please share! However, I do look forward to seeing how everyone manages to stay afloat while struggling to become a better artist.
I work a professional job that pays me 70k a year.

Luckily I did a lot of my initial art grind while in high school and just after, so I didn't need to fully support myself all that time. The trick once you do have bills is to just live cheaply. I take the bus, cook all my meals, and very rarely go out places or spend money on alcohol. I also don't buy clothes ever or impulse purchases. It helps that I'm not a materialistic person. If you do this you can survive off a part time job, or if you have a full time job you can save up enough to eventually quit and take off enough time to get an art career off the ground. I've heard of other people having a girlfriend or wife to help support them by having a second income, but I haven't had that luxury.

Good day. I am looking for sites that sell dolls in order to sketch. They will have features such as moving their fingers, the ability to position and so on. What I look for are websites where you--yourself have the experience of buying well-functioning dolls.
Why I choose to ask in /ic/ is that /r/ is no longer available for such damands neither do I see that other boards would use tools such as dolls for sketching.
I thank in advance.
>neither do I see that other boards would use tools such as dolls for sketching.
Have you asked /toy/?
While lurking /ic/ I've seen many threads about dolls for sketching and surprisingly often I read opinion that mannequins dedicated for artists are shit compared to dolls that resemble anime characters. But I'm not sure is it truth - I prefer using big mirrors and selfies as a reference.
Alternatively, if you can't find any dolls, then you could just use a digital 3d model: "Design Doll" is a nice program for that. A bit buggy, but useful.
Don't listen to anyone that tells you to get a figma for figure reference. Depending on your budget you could shoot for something like a ball-jointed doll but that have a ton of articulation but they usually cost a few hundred to thousands of dollars.

The fingers do not articulate, but there are several different hands to swap out.
It's not hard to find hand reference anyway.
If I want to make my art wallpaper friendly, should I stick to any specific ratios?
Are you really that incompetent that you can't figure this out on your own?

I can't tell if you're the worlds hugest cunt, or if you're the puniest most insignificant rat cunt in the world.
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.

Would appreciate some opinion on this small landscape piece, a5 size. Pencil.
>>2691724
nice,nice.
Next step is to get some values in there. Do more of these referenced ones and try to get the perspective more intuitively + set up a basic value base.
Also try invent some forms and perspective from memory, as it looks like you got the basic perspective rules down ok.
Anyways nice effort and keep training
>>2691732
thanks this was sitting out the back of my house, I don't usually draw landscapes, it was a tough one due to working small but still trying for small details on proper perspective like the bricks etc.

Hi guys. How are you?
I don't know if this is the right place, but I want your opinion on my Donald tsum tsum biscuit. I made for my gf, and I was going to make Daisy too, but was wondering if it was good enough. So How is it?
Damn, missed the name of the thread. Anyway, its 4 cm lenght and 2 cm in wide.
Bump?
2/10 not enough loomis
Artwork you would like to tattoo on your body
Here is another one
nice b8 OP but i'll bite
if this could be turned into lines somehow and still look good, i'd get this
anything from katsuya terada, i feel like it'd look like a big fucking smudge tho, unless you do it big.

This thread is meant for artists who might want to try to make anime works in-between their studies. It is strongly recommended that you use this thread in conjunction with learning the elements and fundamentals of art. You can also discuss the visual elements of various professional artists as well if you keep it relatively articulate and civil.
Submit your drawings, receive feedback or critique others! Share your knowledge and remember to thank those who've critiqued or red-lined your drawings. Most importantly, have fun!

Bumping to this to here
tame enough for the thread I think.
non-referenced gesture and perspective practices
Granted a lot of apps such as Manga Studio, Illustrator, and others now have perspective ruler tools.
But for drawing on paper, carrying around a ruler or t-square isn't practical.
Well here all you need is a rubber band and two thumb tacks or push pins!
Can't be used for everything, but still a nice efficient and clever way to do it.
I feel it'd be one of those crutch things in the beginning. Once you get familiarized with perspective it's almost second nature.

um, wat?

It's definitely easier to use than repositioning a footlong stick a million times
In american gothic what is the woman looking at?
doesn't matter, she just has a vacant stare
His firm grim on his pitchfork and steady stare reflects on how he is set in his ways. He's probably a strict man who is content with what little they have. She looks to her husband, standing slightly behind him, following him as she has done throughout their marriage. A mousy thing, in her conservative clothes and plain looks, understands she will never know anything better than the life they share. Maybe she has a little bit of despondent resignation to their lot in life, maybe a bit in resentfulness for her husband and his unbending ways.
He put on a clean jacket to look good for the painting, but underneath is his filthy overalls, coated in the dirt he lives on, grows his crops in, and will eventually be buried in.

Shit i luv this stuff
so nice, i like this collor
I didnt realize how bad deviantart was.
I was just randomly browsing and saw at least two fairly popular posters who uploaded nothing but CLEARLY obvious traces of pictures with just slight retouching in photoshop or some kind of obvious copy/photomanipulation. these people had tons of people complimenting them. it was kind of sad/scary.
