What is your beverage of choice when drawing?
Coffee or Water

How did you get this picture of me?
My question is: Why haven't I bought a spill safe mug?
Couldnt find one so h-here i go!
questions thread
The reason i started this thread was for my own question of course:
Anyone else realize that being on /ic/ and comparing yourself to other artists in general kind of made you forget the point of drawing, which is to have fun?
>>2691342
Yes.
>>2691342
>comparing yourself to other artists
I think this is the main part of your problem
draw for your own sake not draw like your artist waifu
thats probably why you find it boring.
nothing to do w /ic/
I cant draw heads for shit, or faces, or bodies, I can draw animals just fine but WHAT THE HELL, HELP ME, should I memorize the proportions and double check them at every step? I always end up fucking up
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>sticky

So what does /ic/ mean with "making it"? How do I know I "made it"?
If you make 25k+ a year, every year, you made it.
>>2706716
Cool I got a 25k bonus from my non-art related job
>made it
>>2706716
Is it wrong to tell an artist that their work reminds you of another artist?
>>2705417
No, but I can see how someone that works with highly derivative subject matter would take offense to it.
>>2705417
Depends on the context. If the person your comparing them to is shitty, then it's an insult. If they get compared to the same artist a lot, it might be seen as an accusation of plagerism.
>>2705417
no
people who get butthurt over that type of thing are either overly sensitive nancies or are actually legitimately plagiarizing
Because we should not have to make new threads or post in draw threads with our fundamental exercises.
Feel free to post even the smallest exercise you have done to show you are still trying, do not give up, make your mom proud.
AVOID asking unrelated questions, there is a question thread for that.
RESIZE YOUR IMAGES TO ~1000 PIXELS:
#1)
>screenshot the image and post that instead (also images shouldn't come out accidentally sideways with this method)
#2)
>change camera capture settings to something smaller
#3)
>send to computer and resize in MSPaint

There's a new sticky in town! You can see it at:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1VfDTpLLVl5bWUGWguswKpPFml533luI8-NBd1EGYHnA/edit
>Thread study: Try to draw/paint the opening or any other following images.
Feel free to post your original works as well if you're trash.
TRY TO BE MORE ACTIVE AND GIVE PEOPLE SOME FEEDBACK - many studies are left unreplied, which is a bit sad and can be quite demotivating for the people that try their best to improve, but are left directionless.
Old Thread: >>2698838
First time poster here, any critiques and tips? I need help with hands and muscle shapes, does anyone know of any good techniques other than "practice practice practice"? Thank you. Also I'm aware there's probably a thousand "how do I draw" threads a day, so sorry if this is dumb lol.
>>2706660
Learn anatomy and learn how to see things as cylinders and boxes.
Don't make your own thread and read the sticky.

>get gud scrub
Torso too short. But acceptable for beginner
which is the bes portrait of merlin monro?
>>2705848
Why would you want an overused white girl tattoo of merlin monro? Get something actually worthy
>Merlin Monro
>not Marilyn Monroe
Fuckin' poser.
Why would you tattoo her on your face to begin with? You want to look like Monroe? That's not the way.
Anyone knows where can I get a bamboo fun 450 pen?

Google you tard.
a mirror
actually thats a pretty good idea.
didnt even think about that.
thx
I would start by not googling herpes
How do you discover good contemporary artists?
>>2705870
You don't.
>>2705871
Why not?
tumblr is where i go
skilled Twitter artists that spend their entire life drawing fan art of recent pop culture characters everyday.
I always wonder, how do these people make a living? How can day draw fan art everyday?
They don't even have a patreon.
They are obviously very skilled but they don't show any sign of having a real job.
It's strange, anybody knows how the lifestyle of fanartists works?
Most of them are in Japan or Korea, so maybe they are just very rich people that don't need to have a job.
Who knows, I'm just wondering how such a lifestyle is possible.
feels good to not be a wagecuck
>>2704524
they are obsessed with the characters, they draw so much fanart because they are addicted.
It's like being the stalker of a fictional character.
>>2704526
I rather contribute to some pop culture work than draw fanart of it everyday.
Lost 4 years of personal artwork, references, torrented programs, projects, inspirations.
Lesson learned, always back up your shit...
>>2704072
>not backing it all up into your brain
not gonna make it
yeah that happened to my music scores one time. it really sucks lol.
Wew, thanks for the reminder op, I'll be sure to do it tomorrow.
Is this any good? Any tips? Am i a fag?
A bit of wanky perspective with the eye on the right side of the image, a crooked mouth and a few other things but I do like it
Post it in the critique general next time though please
>>2706238
Thx
Whenever I attempt to draw from imagination, I almost always am never able to replicate what I learn from observational drawing. Does that mean I'm not doing something right even when I capture the figure correctly in terms of construction and gesture when figure drawing?
>>2706157
Figure out what you are struggling with most when you draw from imagination. Then, next time you do a study pay attention to the parts you tend to have trouble with.
someone post the link
you know which one i'm talking about
