Where should I put the shadows on this painting? I'll skip the details but just imagine the white shape as a three dimensional rectangle with a cylindrical shape/handle coming out of the face, I'm unsure of how the shadow should look. I was thinking of having the imaginary light source at the top right side of the image. Any redline's or sketches would be appreciated!

Very low on horizon line behind the subject. Your background makes it similar to bloody evening sky when the sun is just about to hide.
I'd utilize this angle. Maybe even push it to the extreme right and low, very low, so you'd have very long shadows going on the ground, could be pretty expressive.
>>2702061
Actually I'm a retard, it's not evening sky but usually morning sky, but you get the memo.
Sun rises on the east and is just tiny-little above the horizon/on the horizon.

I like the sound of that, I'm just worried th unused space in bottom right corner might look weird, I'm unsure as to how to include the handle in the shadow ie how/where it will come out of the rectangle, my lecturer suggested actually creating and lighting the object but I'm too lazy
no ref thread in sight
I'm going to dump some architecture to get it rolling, mostly cathedrals
gonna upload every 10 mins or so
I'm going to study software engineering in my local taco college.
But I want to learn art, what would be some classes I can take that will help me to learn realism?
Should I take some life drawing classes and maybe try to look up some anatomy classes.
my college offers Fine art (basically a glorified high school art teacher) and graphic design.
I think I can pull some classes from graphic design.
But what can I take bros?
Look up some figure drawing classes and basic drawing classes. Fuck painting classes as those will mostly be full of middle-age women who want to paint pretty flowers and shit. Same with arts and crafts.
I'm also doing SE or at least trying to. You might eventually run out of coursss to take though if you're not at an art school.
I'm trying to start realistically drawing objects. any resources I can use to learn (videos, books, websites, etc.)? I have no idea where to start
read the sticky, dipshit.
Next!
The best thing I ever learned about realistic drawings is to look at the object 80% of the time and the page 20% of the time
Hi , im an artits from argentina, this is some of my work

I hate when every one gives good critissism when is obiously something is wrong, anyone have the same feeling?
Still better than the /ic/ method. Giving harsh criticism even when it's obviously done well.
Yeah, but it still is annoying
Same. I hate when people ignoring sound in space in Sci Fi movies. It's so oblivious why no one complains? There is no sound in space! Are they stupid? Idiots
First candidate tetsuya nomura.
this one should be easy

Those are some of the worst graffiti designs i have ever seen.

Most people are talentless shits and attention whores.
Especially those who do things for others to see.
This is true of most who take part in any art form.
Learned some stuff moving on tomorrow
Thank you for the new fucking thread with a fucking sideways picture you giant neckbearded faggot. This is why you will never have a paying job fuck

>Been trying to finish an art piece for over a year now
>Everytime I make progress, the file either corrupts, I save on the wrong layer, or just crashes while I'm working
>Recently start my 10'th attempt on it
>Won't even open now, it's just fucked
>In a funk for over 2 days
>Decide today that I'd get my shit together and do a Lady Layton drawing for Inktober
>Get all the way to the Lineart phase
>Won't save, try exporting and it just crashes
How can I build up the motivation to draw again when every attempt is met with some sort of cosmic failure? I don't even want to look at my tablet at the moment.
Get a better SAI.
>>2704044
You should not have started this thread kys
>>2704044

there's obviously something your not telling us op
would you be opposed to making a /ic related discord server?
or do you know some art related good communities on discord?
>>2702730
>/ic related discord server
>good communitie on discord
chose 1
>>2702733
I've been posting my art on level-up tons of times, on different art communities as well, nowhere i have recieved any critique, just here on /ic some anon finaly told me that my pics have no depth and i need to step up my values, if you know better communities, i'll be glad to join them
I say go for it OP
How do you deal with this sense of urgency of wanting to bring your ideas on paper while at the same time not having the skills to do so and knowing that it will take quite a while until you have them? It makes it hard for me to stay patient and focused during exercises.
one piece at a time
That´s easy: make a list of what you want to depict as soon as you are able to,
Just make a pretty detailed description of the future picture, and store that file until you are confident to execute it.
The detailed, juicy description should help you to look forward to actually do it.
>>2701292
no shit, thats why you need to spend huge ammount of time learning to draw before creating truly satisfying work. go read the sticky and get good.
also delete this pointless thread
Is there really an /ic/ discord?
Drawing often gets a little lonely and it would be great to have a related chat to be part of.
Find new sticky, then ctrl+f and type discord. Im sure you'll find it.

it's not there.
