Hi guys
I come to you because I need some advice, or maybe I just need to vent and put my thoughts out.
I want to be a good artist, I want to earn the habilities to draw and paint (I'm in love with watercolors) but I'm new to this and I'm poor, like, very poor.
If I'm lucky I think I can spend about 20€ a month in suplies or books or stuff, I can't afford any more.
How can I begin to work on it and improve myself? What should I focus on first?
When I get to draw a face and make the circle and the lines that mark the eyes and mouth and nose somehow I get blocked and I can't keep going forward into more detail.
I mean, I really want to do it and get good, get better and improve myself so I can be able to draw and paint the world as I want or the pictures and images I've in my head.
I just want to give life to my imagination in a faithful way, I want to make drawings and paintings of all the things and images that are so clear in my head, but I get a pen and fuck-shit-it.

The values look really nice right now but if I'm going to be picky I'd say that the left side is heavier than the right side. This makes sense because you have darker values on the left side and the creature on the right side is flying so it naturally looks lighter.

What's stick guy at the bottom left meant to do? Is he the handler of that dragon? He and his platform kinda get lost in the shape of the dragon.

Depression is an excuse artists use to make it seem okay why they aren't getting their work done. Cancel it and feel no guilt.
If you worked at a office job and didn't get your work done, would you be able to tell your boss "sorry I'm depressed today". No you wouldn't

Worth it?
No.
You're better off maintaining a real job with a sustainable income. Doing your art on the side and keep it a passion.
A lot of pro's have side jobs, it's not uncommon at all.

They just focus on structure more, whereas comparable ateliers in the west usually are more 2d shape/sight size based. They also have a larger talent pool to pull from and start education younger. For what it's worth, that drawing you posted is not even that good imo. Modern Russian drawings are in general much worse than they used to be even 50 years ago, pic related.
