Has anyone here managed to significantly improve their physique, athleticism, or general fitness while working at a serious career (60+ hours a week, stressful, mentally taxing) and maintaining a relationship? You can not be a fatty without going to the gym. I recommend you eat healthy and buy a treadmill with that good job you have. You can use the tread mill for just 10 minutes a night if thats all you have, but you will need to RUN on it, not walk or jog.

I've said it before to a friend and I'll say it again. If a person wants to get physically fit, they'll find a way. It's a personal commitment to your own self.
I started lifting on my friend's porch outside after work with just a bench, a barbell, dumbells, and weight plates. I sometimes did it at night in the dark. Sometimes it was nice out. Sometimes it wasn't.
Point is, it all comes down to what you're willing to do or not do to get in shape. I know that if I ever got a GF, she wouldn't stop me from going to the gym.

Relative Strength.
So I am 170lbs and I can bench 225 twice. IDK my 1RM. But I feel like that is decent relative strength, in fact I would say the average person my age (30) cannot bench 225 1RM. Now we know the average person isn't /fit/ but as far as fit people go, is 225-235 bench pretty decent? is it under average? is it damn good? Its 132% of my body weight.
I don't seen anyone in the gym my size doing this weight expect for MAYBE 2 people. Everyone else my size is struggling with weight that I dont struggle with.
I also dont think its fair to say 230 is shit because some anomalies out there can do 275 -300, surely that's like 1% of the guys that are my size.
So how do we figure relative strength?

225 is pretty normal among gym goers. I weigh 125 and can do 220 for one rep and can do 20 pull ups etc. That all sounds great, but 125 is fucking tiny so it doesn't really matter what my relative strength is. I could probably win in a fight versus people my own size but that's all I got going for me there

So how much can a beginner deadlift before it starts becoming a problem and would adding more sets allow me to improve that lift faster?
I'm gassed after my single working set, but I keep thinking I can do another set if I waited 5 or so more minutes. Would this be a detriment or a positive? I understand that as I keep moving up in weight, I won't be able to pull like that, but for now I think I could.

Mobility exercises, my friend. Go to YouTube and look for ones that open your hips, especially. You can even find ones for APT since it's so common. Bookmark the ones that are helping you, and keep doing it until you can do body weight squats with proper form. Then move from low weight to 4pl8 over the course of a few years.
