Hi fairly new to /fit/, I lurk every now and again but never really got into the /fit/ lifestyle. I have a few questions, if they are too retarded or if I should re-read "the fucking sticky" just let the thread die I guess.

I've always "worked out" at home, bought a couple of dumb-bells, a jumping rope and started doing a few exercises sporadically. Lately though, I've started to turn my life around in several ways, and now I want to join an actual gym and take my health seriously.

Thing is, I've never been in a gym before, and I don't really know any of the "do's and don'ts", the general etiquette and how I'm supposed to approach things.

Do you usually get pointers and suggestions by the gym staff if you're a beginner? Is that usually considered having a personal trainer that warrants some extra cost? Because I don't know where to start when faced with a fully equipped gym, hell I wouldn't even know what half the tools are for. I realize that the best way to find out is to go to a gym in person and ask, but I just want to know what your experiences have been first to get a general idea.

What I'm asking is general advice when joining a gym, what to do, what to expect and maybe some stories about your first gym experiences.

OP, think of it as a public space like a library or a store. Just be polite and don't get in people's way. The trainers there will help you, but you should probably come with a routine in mind and watch a few videos on the correct form for whatever you're doing. If you're just using machines, they'll all have little stickers with instructions on them.

So I have losing a lot of weight lately from diet and physical activity . Down to about 172lbs. I have been running a route around my house. Up to 4 miles now. Like the route and have been working on lessening my time. Last week as I was getting to the home stretch someones huge dog comes running after me and tried to bite me before it turned back. I have a huge fear of dogs and have not ran since. I do not know what to do. I do not want to regress into my past self, but I rely heavily on routine and this is messing me up.

Alright fit stats are as follows
5 ft 10
Weight:150
Squat 200
Deadlift 225
Bench 200
OHP 135
Im sitting around 14 or 15% body fat and think i should get to bulking and getting stronger but primarily putting on mass. I was thinking some variant of U/L. Anyone have any suggestions for one?

I'm doing pic related for my routine, just started.

OHP was fine, I started with the bar and did more than 10 reps on the last set so I will be adding 5lbs.

Couldn't do 3x5 chin ups so I did as many negatives as I could. Not worried here just gotta work at it.

Squats is where I'm concerned. I started with 95lbs which didn't feel super heavy but I didn't get what I wanted out of the lift. Looking in the mirror I saw lots of butt wink, and I felt the lift almost exclusively in my quads and my groin.

How do I figure out which muscles need stretching and which muscles need strengthening so I can achieve proper squat form?

Also, my gym doesn't have 1.25lb microplates, only 2.5. How can I make up for this with progressing on the upper body workouts?

So I thought I would finally give stretching a try. After the hard leg workout I went on to stretch. It was unpleasant, but stretching never is. Hot muscles stretched much more than I'm used to. So that was okay I thought and went home. The next I couldn't take a dump because whenever I try to squeeze the shit out of me, my upper glutes hurt. Not in a bad way, but as if I had the most severe doms possible. So I have to relax, because otherwise it hurts too much. And the next day after that it still hurts as much, I can't take a dump, fit.

FUCK stretching.

I know this has been pretty meme worthy lately but I want to know. Are you guys actually fasting or just posting bullshit?

I have fasted before in the past but always felt like shit never making it past day 4. I recently thought about just fasting off of these little chicken/beef bullion packets instead of straight water in an attempt to keep my electrolyte levels up during the fast. Is this sound supplementation or should I throw is something more? I'm already planning on taking a multivitamin as well

Not memeing you here, I am currently at about 55 hours. Just go with raw salt to give yourself electrolytes when you start to develop headaches or when you're feeling low.This is my first fast longer than 24 hours and my dreams have been very vivid, my sleep schedule is real fucky but isn't making a difference in my high energy levels, interestingly enough.

So far I would recommend the experience, but I have yet to hit the hardest part so we will see what happens within a few days. Good luck, anon-kun.

I'm at day 15.

Lost 30 lbs already. Weight loss is easy on this. Bullion is good for keeping on the fast but since it has nutrients, you wont be experiencing a true fast. Water, multivitamins, some salt. That's all you need.

I want to start training my neck, are 4x30 neck curls once in the week enough? I was thinking about 22 pounds as weight.

Anyone got any tips or info for a huge neck?

But neck is like forearms and calves, you gotta hit it 3-4 times a week to get good results. Just avoid neck bridges for a few months, or it's snap city for sure.

Guys i'm fucking short of time and i'm not getting chance to go 2 the gym to do weighted core exercices ( i've forgotten to do abs too much).

Which are the best core exercices to do in the bedroom?

the only tool i have avaliable is an Ab Wheel that i bought in a flea market for 1 dollar.

Could an upper/lower split with different schedules work?
For example:

Monday:
Heavy bench
Light OHP
(Accessoires)

Tuesday:
Heavy squats
Light diddlys
(Accessoires)

Thursday:
Heavy OHP
Light bench
(A)

Friday:
Heavy diddlys
Light squats
(A)


Will start bulking soon and want a new routine.

So I have some pain near my knee on the muscle in pic. I was dead lifting and by the end of it my knee was super tight and the next day it started hurting after I ran.

Tell me /fit/. Am I fucked? Injuries General I guess.
