This game is fucking awful

Just use it as a proxy card to bait a combo.

This. All you have to do to win is have a weak card with a bunch of arrows like what the OP posted, then place it somewhere where you will be the last one able to attack an arrow. The computer takes the bait every time

Am I the only one?

What other games did you always pronounce wrong?

For the longest time, I pronounced Ocarina of Time as ORCArina, like the orca whale.
>>
I'm not American, and I already heard a lot of American people saying "Ninja Gay-den", Ryu as "Rái-u", and a lot of things like this. Funny.

Thread devoted to all things Vectrex. This is my single favorite console of all time, surprised to see that it isn't really discussed often around here

Does this console have the single best homebrew library ever? Fan games are even higher quality than actual release titles

I'd be interested in getting a Vectrex but holy fuck have they spiked in price

Why do people dump these ROMs?
43 posts and 6 images submitted.

For our amusement and curiosity.
>>
>>3754343

For preservation. Sure, some random bootleg probably isn't significant, but I guess the fact that such things exist is part of gaming history. I think a lot of preservationists take the viewpoint of "We can't say what is necessarily significant to the overall history of gaming, so why not backup what we can?"

Folk who grew up with it might want to check that shit they played as kids again for nostalgic purposes.
I'd kill for the ROMs of my old multicarts for Famiclone from 1992, a 30 in 1 and a 64 in 1. I remember most of the games, although there may be a few that I'm forgetting and I'd like to refresh the memory, and I'd even love to see the menues again (which was plain black background) and its sound effects (a sort of "plick" sound every time you selected a different game).

ITT: games that you fucking hated.

I played Vectorman 1 and 2 on Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection just for complete all achievements, but I almost died.
I've never seen this game before, and this game sucks. The enemies keep respawing like retards and the game is boring as hell.

Vectorman had neat looking graphics for the time, but yeah it was bad. Vectorman 2 is especially fucking terrible. I just tried playing that a few days ago and it made me sick.
>>
>>3754309
It is more or less the equivalent of Donkey Kong Country on Genesis, neat use of the graphical capabilities and that was its selling point.

But the game itself pretty generic and boring.

I wouldn't call Kalm creepy at all. It's FFVII's take on the towns of past Final Fantasy games.

In fact it's comfy as fuck.

In an alternate universe where Nintendo released more than 10 units per of these per continent, how do you think these would have affected prices in the retro game market?

I think it might have lowered prices a bit especially seeing how 90% of bandwagon retro collectors just want a cool looking box to show off to their friends to play old games on

As far as recommendations outside of the usual? Chaos Seed's translation is pretty recent, remember to listen to the tutorial very closely though, it's quite the different game.

Is my imagination and older games seems better than modern games except by graphics.

All modern games seems like too focused on selling me a shit hollywood movie or anime with garbage story and 500 hours of trash.

What happened to the glory days of arcade gaming?

Or am I simply a stupid 27 year old nostalgiafag looming for ancient games.

I dunno, for my part it seems games from the 70-80 have some kind of no BS, this is you, this is your enemy, don't BS story attached, no emotional BS I don't care, no politics about race or gay or female being represented, just gold gameplay.

Pacman has no BS, no casual shit, no micro transactions, you play, you get good or die, nothing complex, and has better design and better AI than modern games.

I can't simply care about games with BS stories about hollywood crap or anime or manchild fantasy or sci fi shit, I rather read literature if I need a story.

Another anon posted this some time ago, and I thought it was an interesting view on the use of the word "nostalgia":

>you know, people tend to misunderstand how nostalgia works.

>Nostalgia is indeed similar to a drug, in the sense that, undoubtely, something you thought you had forgotten can trigger a chemical in your brain, which causes the nostalgia effect.
But nostalgia is not playing games you liked as a kid.
For example, if I play Contra every now and then, and remember it every now and then, it's not nostalgia, I'm just thinking and playing a game I genuinely like.

>Nostalgia is the feeling of suddenly seeing or remembering something you actually haven't seen or think about in years, or decades. That's what causes nostalgia.
Liking a game from your childhood is not, it means you genuinely like it and that's it.

>Nostalgia doesn't actually have to do with liking a thing or not, you might remember something you were kind of indifferent as a kid (like a shitty pop song from the radio you haven't heard in decades), but it still might trigger you nostalgia because you associate it with your childhood. But you might not necessarily like it, or listen to it again later, you just have a spontaneous nostalgia trip, and that's it.

tl;dr what happens to you isn't "nostalgia", you just like old style games better.

No. Just another kid trying to be special with muh "im so retro new games make me physically ill OMG why don't modern developers understand me" shit. It was sad the first time it was posted and is now only sadder and older.
