Why do people dump these ROMs?
>>3754343
For our amusement and curiosity.

For preservation. Sure, some random bootleg probably isn't significant, but I guess the fact that such things exist is part of gaming history. I think a lot of preservationists take the viewpoint of "We can't say what is necessarily significant to the overall history of gaming, so why not backup what we can?"

Folk who grew up with it might want to check that shit they played as kids again for nostalgic purposes.
I'd kill for the ROMs of my old multicarts for Famiclone from 1992, a 30 in 1 and a 64 in 1. I remember most of the games, although there may be a few that I'm forgetting and I'd like to refresh the memory, and I'd even love to see the menues again (which was plain black background) and its sound effects (a sort of "plick" sound every time you selected a different game).
To play those games.
the real question is, why DONT people dump roms?
pic very much related
I actually used to download roms of bootleg games and famiclone multicarts all the time. Sure there was a lot of crap, but they were genuinely amusing to me.

Autism/they know if they hold out long enough they can get free money.
>>3754343
I'm fine with them dumping the ROM, i just wish they wouldn't end up in the fucking rom sets out there. As you have to then sort though 100% more roms that are flat out garbage or don't half work at all to find shit.

The tism. Same reason people put full sets on the SD for their ED.
So we can watch Uncle Jobel's morale slowly but steadily decline.

eyyy. bootleighs, man. theyre amazing (to look at)

Doesn't the story behind Sonic Bros not being dumped have more to do with hoarders and less to actually do with copyright?
I wouldn't be surprised. They were talking about it over on Sonic Retro and someone said that if the guy who owned this ever dumped it the community who owns a lot of precious things would "never forgive him" and proceed to never release anything just to punish the rest of the world. There's petty and then there's super petty

> He doesn't like bootleg games.

>if you release this game we will never release the things we are never releasing
I'd be shaking in my boots. kek.
Should history not be preserved? Bootlegs and prototypes are snapshots in time.
>>3754343
Better question, why the fuck wouldn't they?
>>3754343
for the lulz
Theres people who grew playing bootlegs because it was that or play with rocks. My second console was a NES bootleg console. I even beat the first SMB in that console till it blew up because the poor quality of the circuits.

hmm i dunno kek
I've never met anyone more pathetic than people who hold onto exclusive ROMs. They always have this crazy sense of self importance and act like they are a fucking god for even letting people know they exist. The worst are people like>>3755052 who would retaliate and "never forgive" someone for dumping a rom they have. Forreal? Grow the fuck up.

>I've never met anyone more pathetic than people who hold onto exclusive ROMs.
Does reading a post count as meeting someone? Because however bad they might be for hoarding a rom this post was just leagues more pathetic.
>Grow the fuck up.
Take your own advice, Kiddo.

I thought it was a prototype of that 3-player Sonic arcade game that actually came out with Red Sonic and Yellow Sonic being nothing more than placeholder for Mighty and Ray. Not sure why they felt the need to give Sonic palette-swapped siblings for a goddamn falling blocks game.

the soundtrack to this game is legendary as far as I'm concerned.

why do you write like an anime villain?

While I don't recall the details of this particular board, sometimes things might have to do with the source. For all we know, the guy he got the board from might have sold it to him with the condition that he not release it. Maybe the seller has another copy of it and doesn't want it to be devalued, or maybe he has ties to Sega and doesn't want that jeopardized.

You can't really transfer ownership of something with caveats like that. If I own something, who's going to stop me from doing whatever I want with it.
FACK YOU MAN
That's the first time I've even seen Street Fighter. That game has a special place in my heart.

Knock yourself out sport.
You can put whatever terms you want in a contract. They can be challenged and voided if they violate a statute or regulation but that doesn't stop you from putting them in there. Some kid saying "you can't do that" doesn't mean anything.

Youre so pendantic, I can tell youre a collector. Im saying "met someone" as a figure of speech as im not literally meeting them in real life but learning about qualities of their life through their online presence. Still doesnt change the fact youre a little baby for thinking your precious sonic tetris rom is priceless and punishing the world if someone leaks it

I was gonna concur until I read that shit. Sometimes you just need to listen to the kitty and stop typing.

Agreed, I played this first as a lad and was actually disappointed the soundtrack wasn't the same but arranged when I played actual MK2.
