I can run a 5k at 11 km per hour

my first ever 5k race is next week. Can I rely on adrenaline at all for a better pace?
3 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
If this is your first race and there's a crowd, yes. You can probably add 0.5 or even 0.75km/h to your pace. If you've done this before you'd be used to it by now so the effect isn't there as much.

This works for races up to a half marathon. In a whole marathon starting much faster than your training speed will only lead to failure in the last quarter.

Hey, i've always been sort of skinny and naturally athletic, but recently i had some major surgery :(( hindering my movement for about three-four moths. I've put on a bit of weight and feel awful in general, not moving around and eating junk all day. I want to start eating healthy and working out.

The only problem that i am weak as fuck. I can manage about three push ups. Used to be able to do 20 easy.

How can i build up my strength and loose a lil weight from home? What are some good exercises?

Thanks

buy a cheap set of adjustable dumbbells from walmart or wherever. you may need someones help carrying them home if you're as weak as you say you are

>tfw tore my rotator cuff

Can hardly move my shoulder. In excruciating pain. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Medical websites say that it may take 6-8 weeks to be pain free and have full range of motion again, but rotator cuffs tears never heal. Other than injecting cortisone, doctors can't do much other than do an X-ray, provide painkillers and give an ice or heat pad.

Go on and make it without me

>>
how did you do it
>>
>>42451797

I've torn both of mine years ago. You have to stop, let them heal but you can still do therapy to aid the healing process. In fact, you'll always have to do some sort of therapy for the rest of your life (if you don't want impinged shoulders), such as slow arm swings with 5 lb or some other small weight.

But it doesn't mean you can't lift again. This is just a bump in the road.

Also stop lifting like a fucking retard.
>>
>>42451821
Started off as a somewhat minor pain in shoulder. Decided to do some stretches in my shoulder. I did some stretches and exercise that help treated rotator cuffs online.

I felt like it wasn't enough. This is where I fucked up and went full retard more. Did a stretch where I held onto something, pulled my torso back and pulled my arm out of the socket. I was able to pop my shoulder a few times which I thought was a good thing, but as the day went on the pain slowly crept up and now I'm at a point where I can hardly move it.

I'm trying to incorporate more beans into my diet, but beans always give me awful gas and cramps and goopy, tarry shits that take half a pack of wet wipes to clean up. How long does it take your digestive system to get used to a new food? Or does everyone who eats tons of beans just shit toothpaste all the time?

Don't eat them if you can't handle them.

I tried really hard on lentils and beans for months but my body never got used to them, don't keep on going if you can't handle it but at least give it a month or so.

If you're vegan, just try pea protein isolate instead, not that great tasting but really easy to digest.

Look at these macros, you can have 200g of protein, 1600 calories of fat but absolutely no carbs. You could eat Parmesan cheese forever and maybe take a multivitamin and you would make sick gains.

Hey /fit/.

I'd just like you to know.

It's my third week lifting today.

No gains yet, but I'm not deluded.

I definitely feel much better about myself and my general mood has become much more pleasant, and it's helping me get out of the rut I've been stuck in for the past couple of years. I have suffered from mild/deep depression, never medicated, for a long time, and for the first time in what feels like centuries, I am not sad anymore.

And it is all thanks to you guys.

Thank you, /fit/.

/fit/ appreciation thread. Let's all post nice things about this board.

If Batman can put up these plates, so can you

Anybody on /fit/ have depression and deal with it with exercise?

In addition to medications, I keep getting told that it was THE healthy thing for both depression and anxiety.

It works, the endorphins kick in and I feel good from it. But after I calm down and go home I am usually still a little down.

What does /fit/ recommend? Does anybody else experience the same problem?

your diet will have a massive affect. eat healthy, get your nutrients/vitamins, exercize and keep your bf% low. this will foster a proper body environment to create testosterone which will help a lot. you can make it anon
>>
>>42451641
You basically described why I started lifting in the first place. Was a skinnyfat with massive depression/anxiety, and felt that lifting to improve how my body looks/feels would be very helpful because it would be physical evidence that I was doing something right in my life. Keep lifting OP, we're all gonna make it.

>>42451641

It definitely helps my pointless rage and sadness. I mean I'm still sad and angry but it stops me going public place machete massacre mode. I wish I could work out for hours everyday then sleep til the next workout.

We can't really help ya senpai.
Just don't buy the junk. If you're feeling hungry eat some veggies or lean meats. It'll fill you up without fucking over your caloric intake.

Really just snack on healthy shit. You'll feel full without taking in a shitton of cals

That's great, dude!
What you're saying tho, it sounds like you've lost your healthy relationship with food, if you ever had it.
It's up to you and your therapist to fix that, but you'll need it or you'll forever fail.
The easy /fit/ fix would be to only buy the food you're supposed to eat, and then just fuck it and stay hungry.

Former fatties here, what benefits did you find in being fit?

My back is starting to hurt me and I'm pretty sure it's because my BMI is around 32
