stick power resistors in series with the two speakers. if you use 8 ohms, you divide voltage by 2 and power by 4, 16 ohms divides voltage by 3 and power by 9, etc.

Hey /diy/, the wife and I have been musing on building a house for some time now.
We haven't really made serious moves towards it as we are comfortable in our current home, but recently she fell in love with the design of these "Green Magic Homes". I've read all of the information available from the manufacturer and been in contact with my nearest distributor (Northern Missouri)However, there is very very little information if any out there from people who have built, and live with these homes. Is there anyone who can share any insight into them. Or maybe even similar alternatives that are more proven, we are shooting for a budget of around 150,000$.
I appreciate any information or help. Thanks.

That means you should aim for $50,000

>advice
get divorced, now, while you still have fond memories of each other. 'musing' is fine and good actually, building a house ain't, its stressful as fuck. And wtf is that thing - are you a fucking hobbit, or do you (or the good wife) have spades for hands, hooves for feet per chance?

No? then, enjoy life, stay in a home you are comfortable with, or, buy another one you'll be even more comfortable with - and, if that's got a big garden? give the wife a shovel, tell her to wire in, make her dream greenhouse dreams come true. But dont put every cent you have into nonsense like your pic related when you also have to build it and live in it.

Anyone have a tried and true approaches to making a smoker. I can get a used 55 gallon drum from work for free, and have a fluxcore welder and oxy/propane torch set, as well as many other tools.

I want to go with something quick and ugly because I just went on vacation and need to taste some delious brisket as soon as I can.

I was thinking of just removing the paint from the drum, cutting off the top, adding 2 air valves to the bottom, putting in a basket for wood in the bottom and adding some racks. It will just stand up as the drum is intended to do.

Anyone have an experience?

What are some books about fiberglass boat construction? I have no idea of how to work with it and I'm in my university's team for a competition where we have to make a fiberglass model and face teams from other universities for various tests.

Has your university hired a technician with all the composite know-how? I'd imagine it's hard for a bunch of kids to start a composite workshop from scratch.

Jesus fuck OP! Use a fucking search engine to find what you need. How stupid are you????

The school doesn't need a composite tech to teach how to do chopper gun or hand laid fiberglass, but students with IQs greater than that of a radish would help.

Boatbuilding forums exist. Go there.

I saw this shit floating around Facebook n shit. How legit do you think it actually is?
There has gotta be a nasty catch like "but you have to be worth 2 million and only Italian citizens"
You think it's possible for a young American contractor (younger than 30) who speaks no Italian to get something like this. At least a farmhouse or abby or some shit?
I'm honestly thinking about this since I love restoration and hate American stick houses.
Details: no debt, white, male, USA born and raised, ~30k in assets, no wife/kids, has lots of tools and skill, restored a 100y/o house before

Italianfag here, mind you have to be a good marketer, the reason we're losing population in the mountains is not because of structural issues (and earthquakes are not helping, damn I'm scared sometimes) but because there's no economic life there, people started slowly migrating in the cities cause of scarcity leaving worse situations until smallest centres died.
Given that, if you want a slow life in the middle of nowhere, in absolutely beautiful places, and want to try to build a small hotel for next to free you're welcome
>>
>>1183382
Tbh it's not an Italian exclusive problem, it's happening pretty much in the entire west. Younger generations, in general, don't wanna deal with the hassle of living middle nowhere, with no jobs, infrastructure or social life. People choose to live like rats in big cities instead.

Whats up, /diy/

I'm in process of building a small, one man submarine. I have everything worked out except what i will use as a seal for the hatch. Do you think a large bead of gasket maker will work? I was also thinking about encasing a ring of metal in the gasket to give it rigitity. Any advise?

Btw, fuck you for saying i'll die. If i listened to that shit, I wouldn't do anything cool. Pic related; my dive helmet diy told me not to make cause "xd u'll die"

Maybe you could try a soft metal seal? They use a copper ring that deforms when you clamp a hatch's harder metal shut on it for some purposes, but it typically requires replacing the copper after each run.

The pressure's going to be on the outside of the sub, so as long as the gasket is rigid enough not to squeeze everywhere, you'll be fine. If you have a pressure chamber of some sort you could run some scale tests. Better yet, if you could control the submarine remotely, even if it's by a cable out the top, your life wouldn't be in any danger, and the sub would probably be fine even in the event of a sudden leak. I say you should be trying to find some sort of marine-grade sealant, maybe even a thick, solid O-ring.

So is it electric or pedal powered? How do you control the buoyancy? And how do you seal the control surface shafts?
>>
I did hear that the Irish used screen doors
>>
>>1167484
Its electric, i have 2 115 ah marine batteries. I'm going to use a minn kota trolling motor as my screw. I'll also have a rudder and elevator. Both of which will be controlled by brushless motors mounted outside the hull. I have 4 10 gallon propane tanks mounted outside the hull to act as ballast tanks. A valve on the inside of the sub will allow water into them. Another propane tank will contain pressurized air to displace the water in the ballast tanks. A small compressor inside the sub will pump up the reserve air tank while on the surface.

My parents bought a plastic shed. I need to install it. We have a concrete slab from the old shed that isn't really an even surface and has some bolt heads sticking up in some areas. The slab level is too low and there is a ton of water that comes in that area that would flood the shed. What can I do to make floor for the shed?

I've been googling around, putting together a schematic for a circuit I'm trying to build. I think I have the components and connections down, I just need to know what value of resistors I should use

[pic related]

in short, I want this circuit to turn on an LED when the switch is in the open position.

R4 I should pick based on the LED and voltage of the circuit, that's easy enough, R1 I was going to make it a trim pot instead because the switch is going to be a magnetic reed switch some 300 feet or so away, and may change depending on install location (I need to make several of these things. also, what value of trim pot should I use then?), and the voltage drop may be too great for a fixed value.

so R2 and R3 are the ones I'm not sure of.

I plan on powering this circuit with 5 to 12v DC.

all that said, my other question is: will this work and be reliable?

>>
I forgot to mention the transistors are going to be regular generic 2n2222's (or whatever the common part is)
>>
>>1186333
R1=R2=R3=10kΩ, no need to adjust anything. R4 depends on supply voltage and LED voltage/current.
>>
that sounds fairly consistent with what I'm finding in google. there's a lot of math involved and lengthy forum discussions that I think is overkill for what I'm doing -- I just need to turn on an LED from far away with a magnetic reed switch, nothing too precise here.

I only have 20k resistors as far as anything in that range, I'll just put them in pairs, in parallel for the test version of the circuit then.

thanks, I appreciate your help.

I'm building right now, so I'll post back with results.

Hello guys, I have a raspberry pi zero and I want to do an interesting project with it involving electronics/programming. I know Python and I have moderate/advanced knowledge in electronics, I want to do something useful and somewhat impressive, I am looking for ideas and possibly some pointers to places in which I can find guides for parts of or the whole project.

Bear with me as this isn't intended as an /x/ thread, thanks. So my parents have started telling me their house is haunted. They revealed this to me several weeks ago by insisting someone was stealing my dad's pills out of his weekly planner box. Protip: I assumed niggers or, more regionally appropriate, white trash home invasion but turns out that's definitely not the case. Anyhohoo, tonite he is telling me he gets smacked in the head routinely by something he can't see, violently, and my mom insists she has seen this. Here's my question. They have an Echo. Can it be used as a voice recorder in a way that if my folks aren't losing their minds might capture a sound of whatever entity is smacking my dad? Or should I just blame niggers?
