Hey guys, I need help, fast. My shower faucet from my grohe just broke off, with water leaking out. How do I turn it off without complete disassembly? I need to stop the water from running now, but I can call in a plumber at a later date. Thanks guys

It broke off at the black ring
Handle which broke
>>1186593
Don't you have a water source that you can turn off in your house or somewhere in your building ?
>>1186603
I do, but it's outside the apartment and more of a last resort
>>1186610
Well the idea would be to cut the water, fix the handle the best you can and then re-open it but I don't know shit about /diy/
>>1186593
just get a spanner or something and rotate the brass grooved part
>>1186619
You sure? I've tried, but it doesn't seem to move. I could try again though.
>>1186619
OK it totally doesn't move, seems to be some kind of connector piece. I could definitely be wrong, but it seems too tight to be a moving piece. The handle was connected by a long rod going through the whole thing, which was the part which snapped. It broke cleanly, so I've got nothing to grip to turn it. Any ideas?
u can go shut the valve on your water heater, pressure balance should stop water from running temp.
>>1186626
ok push the broken part with a thumb and then rotate at the same time
you separated 5 from 6, that black plastic you are looking at is the spline of 6. you can possibly stick a phillips screwdriver in it and turn the thing. I would take the handheld shower head off of the post and set it next to the drain while working on it

Where I live on even remotely new installations there needs to be a shut off valve. See pic.
>>1186682
So do I just turn it? I don't even have a spanner at the moment. I'm trying to work with what I have, which is just a trashy ikea toolbox.
>>1186648
The screwdriver doesn't seem to work, any other household objects I can wedge inside?
>>1186865
Just go turn the main off and call a plumber you dense fuck.
>>1186879
The plumber can't come till next week
how about jamming the output of the shower pipe leading to the shower head shut with a peny on an interconnect, instead of fumbling around with that idiotic assembly?
wtf guys...
>>1186891
Then find another plumber who can. Jesus Christ OP do you even have the life skills needed to live independently? Stop fucking about putting pictures up on here, go outside, shut the water off, open the Yell website, search for plumbers near you and work your way through the list until you find one who can come round straight away. You could have had the problem fixed by now if you had done that as soon as it happened.
>>1186595
Damn dude, it sure did.
>>1186862
>>1186682
The shut off valve is the small thing in the middle. If you have one, turn it with a flathead screwdriver.
>>1187293
CW to be clear. CCW and you have a bigger problem than you started with.
>>1186593
damn, a accidental cock-shot would be so in place on that photo
Go to your cabinet and take A Fistful of every medicine you see there and eat it you will die and you're suffering will be over
>>1186648
>you can possibly stick a phillips screwdriver in it and turn the thing
Or a flat blade slightly larger than the hole in the center.
>>1186865
If it shuts off clockwise, you could push a lag bolt in there and then use a nut driver to turn it. CW will dig the threads into whats left of the valve stem.
