I'm trying to build the circuit (pic related).
The closest audio transformer I was able to get hold off is the one I will post in the next picture. They're slightly different but I'm pretty certain it should work as a substitute.
The data sheet for the transformer I have (see next pic) shows which pin is which and how to use them in a 5 pin or 6 pin configuration. From the circuit diagram, it seems I need a 5 pin configuration, however, the pin missing would be pin 2 on the transformer whereas the data sheet only shows a 5 pin configuration for pin 5 being removed (which is on the secondary, not sure if I can just decide to flip the transformer around). How should I match the pins on this transformer to the circuit diagram? At the moment I've got it wired as the data sheet shows for an all 6 configuration but with pin 2 left floating.
Also, where do I connect the emitter of transistor Q2? It shows it going to -9v which I assume is the same as the line coming from the battery via the switch though the diagram shows that as +9v even though the battery is connected with a reversed polarity. Can someone please clear that up for me?
Thanks
TO CLARIFY: Currently have pin 1 connected to the 22uF cap, pin 3 to ground. Pins 4 and 6 to the diodes. Pin 5 to ground and pin 2 floating
Update: Still have the two problems I mentioned above and an additional one.
With the input port, the one which I'm using (taken from a broken amplifier), there are only two connections (similar to the output port). One for the signal and one which was originally connected to the amplifier casing but would now be connected to ground. What should I do about the line running from the input port to the output port? In the case of the output port, only two connections are required and one is to ground so this is fine.
However, with the input port, there seems to be three connections. There's still the grounded connection but there's two others too (S1a in circuit diagram). I used the one connection I have as the input to the .1uF capacitor. What should I do about the other 1?
Here's the story guys
>painting kitchen cabinets and drawers over weekend
>cabinets are some laminate or melamine plastic pink shit
>not very glossy or smooth at all
>sand every surface a once over with 600grit paper
>wipe with warm water to remove dust
>wipe a decent coat of ESP all over
>have used ESP before and paint turned out fine without priming
>wait 2 hours
>no primer
>paint 3 coats of semi gloss on
>it's been 2 days and the paint scratches off easily
>no peeling or cracking
>thinking of spraying a clear gloss coat all over to protect from scratches
Is the scratch problem because the paint has not cured yet, or is it because the paint has bonded poorly to the cabinets?
Due to there being no flaking, I'm hoping I can get away with a protective clear coat and not have to sand back to the plastic and start again.
Thoughts and advice would be appreciated because my missus is really up my ass about this one.

And when I say scratches off easily, I mean I can dig my nail in and leave a knick in the paint, revealing the cabinets original surface. Not scratching and chips of paint fly off.
-The cabinet material doesn't have a good bond to the paint.
-The paint you purchased is latex/ not for the purpose you used it for.
-Three coats if not allowed adequate dry time in between will take longer to dry. There is no wood underneath to absorb the moisture so all has to come through the top.
Pick one or a combination.

So a gloss coat over the top would not help to protect against scratches?
I'm happy to re do the whole job but if I can get away with a gloss coat and prolong the life of the the current job for a couple years even better
Getting hard to find quality Ni-cad batteries. Chinese ones are crap. Less than 6mo old won't hold a decent charge.
I have a fuck ton of B&D 20v yard tools and miscellaneous shop tools.
Don't want to thow away my trim saw yet.
So I cut up an old dead battery pack and sacrificed one of the cheapo 20v chargers to make an adapter.
> yes I know dewalt makes an adapter to use their 20v batteries on the old 18v tools, but this is the only dewalt thing I own. And all the batteries for it are junk.
Bottom of the adapter

I took the top off the charger.

Got this junk for free at a yard sale, planning on gutting it and turning it into a raspberry Pi classic game machine. Any tips?
>>1184748
Raspiss is only worthwhile if you'll be using pi-specific software or the i/o pins. Otherwise there's cheaper SBCs with the same power.
I, personally, wouldn't use any of them for emulation, because a bit more processing is needed for emulating 16-bit consoles to the degree of accuracy I want, so I do it on my desktop Xeon.

>gutting it
Why?
Why not use it for what it is? Games made to look good on CRTs won't look as good on LCDs. Are you just wanting wood furniture on an LCD? Seems pretty pointless to get a period accurate display only to not use it.
NTSC CRTs make noise that's unbearable to younger people.

Been doing sculpting and engravings for larger casts, but I've begun thinking about doing it for jewelry. Does anyone have a recommendation for a laser engraver or desktop cnc machine? The pieces I indent on making will be no larger than say, 2x2 inches. I could practice carving, but somehow I don't think I'll get good enough to do pic related.

check out etching, it doesn't require equipment. Otherwise you're looking at metal cutting devices which get grit everywhere and needs workspace
>>1184546
look up electric etching. all you need is masking (for the part) a couple nine volts alligator clips saltwater and a sponge. obviously better equipment equals better results. here's a link to the first video i found.

if electro isn't your thing I've heard ferric chloride is similar, but less user involvement. its often used to etch one-off circuit boards. also early link.

if your working with no-corrosive metals either tiny chisels, or pony up the $300-$∞ for a cnc machine like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hobby-Desktop-3-Axis-Mill-Small-CNC-Machine-DIY-PCB-Milling-Engraving-Router-Kit-/111891372282. cheers mate.

How much real precision can you get out of a small mini-lathe with a tool-post grinder attached?
like a Grizzly G0602. To my understanding since grinding removes so little material it may not be necessary to have a gigantic heavy machine, is there any truth to that?
>>1184160
pic related style of grinder
you'll get as much precision as you've got patience.

yeah
-tighten up gibs
-spend time squaring & securing the work in the chuck
-checking for vibrations/suppressing them
Best way to fix this?

I have this exact problem with my mac.
Electrical tape. Lots of it. Wind it very tightly. Cover a good 4 inches of the cord so it won't break again.

Hey guys, I just moved to a new city and noticed there are a lot of these types of phone booths sitting derelict.
I was thinking of repurposing them as mini-librarys but there are already a few of those around, anyone else have an idea for what I can turn them into?
>>1183921
One thing to keep in mind is that they may have an electrical hookup inside of the box. If it is still live, then this increases the number possibilities quite a bit.
I envision some sort of wifi connected VOIP phone that people can use for free. It will require a wifi connection of course. Doing it will be illegal, but I see it more as "constructive vandalism". It is ethical as it provides a free service to the public and to the homeless as they may not have access to phones.
If they've still got the phone line connection you could add a phone with just a button that connects someone to 911. You didn't need to put in coins for that on payphones. Could save someone's life.
>>1183934
Come to think of it though, voip is shakey even on a hardwired connection. I wonder if the phone line is still connected on these things? Maybe you could just wire up a regular telephone
I need two very short small wires for a dimmer switch I just got.
What household items can I destroy to find such small wires?

I have always had good luck with peppermint/spearmint toothepaste. When you find evidence of them, wipe down the area with cleaner (alcohol or bleach) and make a diluted concentration of water and peppermint toothpaste. Spray the effected area and see how it goes.
>>1181975
You have to be persistent.
Get the stuff they haul back to the nest. Kill the queen and the colony will collapse.
